El Station BRC 2025

Welcome to El Station BRC 2025!

The purpose of this welcome letter and questionnaire is to give you a bit of information about your future home in the desert for a week and ask a few questions so we can know a bit about you. Our goal is to build the most amazing camp possible and with you that will be possible.

You ready? We are! We cannot wait to have you part of the El Station BRC Playa family. Let's GO!!!!!

Who and what is El Station BRC?

Building from over ten amazing years of collective rocking the mic Playa history, we are excited to introduce El Station BRC, the love child of the Camp Porta 501c3 non-profit and the incredible Camp Porta Party who graced Black Rock City (BRC) for 10 sweet years (2014-24).

The El Station BRC theme camp will bring to BRC a one-stop shop of community, refuge, and yes of course, a bit of Playa Insanity. Our camp will be a way station of wonderfulness, a perfection of petrol, the favorite of all filling stations – in essence a decommodified 7-11 fully dedicated to community, music and alternative art.  It will provide daily rations (coffee, booze and potstickers) to our famished and tired fellow BRC City dwellers and other surprises to boot from its daily open bar!

And because every service station worth a damn has a devious diner as part of the fun, El Station BRC will also be home to the famous Hel’s Diner, a 38 ft, two-story mutant art car serving up some daily Playa misadventures, with groovy tunes, cold beverages, tasty treats and of course a sick slide and some kick-butt fire effects. Yes, the Playa always provides!

Importantly, El Station BRC is a consent-driven collective of all ages, races and genders, fully committed to Burning Man’s 10 principles, celebrating equality, diversity, community and radical individualism.

What Can You Expect with El Station BRC?

El Station BRC will provide a safe and secure sanctity to up to 125 campmates, be loads of fun, and included with your camp dues provide some pretty sweet amenities, including, but not limited to:

  • Daily themed dinners brought to you by our amazing camp mates

  • Common area shade structures, couches and misters

  • Access to a full kitchen and refrigeration

  • Outdoor Shower, coffee and breakfast

  • Two amazing large art cars  (Hel's Diner & Pyramix)

  • High-speed internet (if that is your jam)

  • Access to a 24-hour power grid (for an additional fee, see below).

How Much is all this Wonderfulness?

2025 El Station BRC Camp Dues are currently $1250 and will go up to $1500 August 1st, 2025. Please note camp dues are how we share the cost of operating the camp. Burning Man tickets are separate and so are vehicle passes. If you get in early you'll have access to purchase a Burning Man ticket through the camp. This means you don't have to sit for long times at a computer and wait to get in a cue to purchase your BM ticket.

We are also doing everything we can get get external power. If we we do and if you want to connect to the power grid there will be an additional fee from the power company ranging from $500-$1500 depending on how many AMPs you intend to use. This not be finalized until July and if it does not happen we will figure out alternative options to make the camp as quiet and safe as possible.

We accept donations using Zelle (info@campporta.org) and Venmo (@campporta). If you are outside of the United States please arrange with the camp lead for an alternate method.

As you all know, building, managing and striking a BM camp is a HUGE EFFORT that takes the collective commitment of all campmates, both physically while you are on the Playa and monetarily. Camp dues and donations are how we share the cost of operating the camp and we cannot stress how critical camp dues and donations are to making the magic happen.

Camp dues and donations are non-refundable, non-transferable, but tax-deductible. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit. For more information please check out our camp with us page for detailed information on how camp donations are used: https://www.elstationbrc.com/

How Do We Communicate

Whatsapp is what we use to communicate for Camp before, during and after Burning Man. The app is free. Download it!

What Else Do I Need to Do

Here are a few other essential things you need to do:

  • You will need a Burner Profile. If you don’t have one, sign up today. If you have one, make sure you login to keep your account activated. And be sure to remember which email you have associated with your Burner Profile, as you will need to use the same one for the questionnaire below.

  • Sign up for The Jack Rabbit Speaks (JRS). JRS is Burning Man’s official newsletter providing year-round information about the growing community and culture of Burning Man. It includes important up-to-date information about preparing for Black Rock City.

  • If you are on Facebook, join the El Station BRC Facebook Group and be “interested” in the El Station BRC Events Page

  • Tell your friends about all the good bad decisions you are making and ask them to join the fun.

Do you have a social media page? Please list it.
Have you been to Burning Man before? Which years?  *
How did you hear about El Station BRC and/or who referred you?
*
Where are you traveling from? What country and/or state? *
How many people in your crew?  If you are just 1, put one silly. *
Do you have a Burning Man ticket? If not read below on how you can obtain one through El Station BRC. *
Directed Group Sale (DGS) tickets or Stewards Sale Tickets are a special privilege and are allocated to the build crew, art car, mutant vehicle crew, break down & LNT crew and for those who offer workshops or a camp dinner in camp. If you feel you qualify for any of these please explain below in order to be considered.
El Station BRC SET UP CREW - If you are going to be part of the camp build crew you need to come either on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday of build week with a Work Access Pass (WAP) and your Burning Man ticket. If you try to get in earlier than your WAP date and time you will have to wait in the D-Lot. We do not offer WAPs for Friday or Saturday build week because the camp will be mostly set up by then.

BREAK DOWN & LNT CREW - We always need more help at the end of the burn. If you are helping break down camp you must stay until Monday or Tuesday after the burn. We need to count on you to do your part. And next year you're locked in with the lowest camp dues if you decide to come back!! you've earned it and we respect that.  *
Required
What are your exact arrival and departure dates? If this changes as we get closer to the event please let us know. *
Describe in detail your footprint. We need to know what size and type of vehicle you are bringing. Are you staying in a RV, Motorhome, tent, yurt, ShiftPod or your own vehicle? Does your RV have slide-outs? Are you setting up your own shaded area? What is the total amount of space you will need for your vehicle and anything else you are bringing. Be as precise as you can please. If you don't know yet please let us know when you can and keep us in the loop. *
If you are driving in a rental RV or trailer you must drive it out yourself. You can not leave your rental in camp and have someone from another camp or someone from the rental company drive it out. If this ends up being the case your rental will most likely be towed at your expense. El Station BRC is not responsible for any charges or damages. *
Power Grid - We were on a power grid in 2024 and it was a total success. It is safer as you won't need to bring extra fuel and store it in camp. The grid is on 24/7 starting build week. If you are in a yurt or shiftpod you may only need a 15 amp circuit ($250) whereas a RV may need a 30 amp ($500) or 50 amp ($750) depending on how many AC units are running.  *
Will you be running your own generator? Any extra fuel brought needs to be stored inside a tub incase any of the containers leak. Generators need to be set up such that the fumes do not go inside someone else's space. We highly recommend the power grid option. It is much safer.  *
Do you plan on bringing a mutant vehicle? If yes have you submitted an application to DMV?  Please explain in detail the dimensions and theme of your mutant vehicle. *
Have you read and understood the "Camp With Us" page? https://campporta.org/camp-with-us/. If not do it meow!!! and/or ask questions in the main whatsapp chat! *
Required

We use WhatsApp in order to communicate. You must have a presence in the camp. A lot of planing goes into making this an amazing year. If you are not present you will miss out and extra resources must be allocated to bring you up to speed. So we ask that everyone downloads WhatsApp and is connected as we plan for a great Burn!

We also hold a one hour weekly camp development meeting online every Tuesday 6pm-7pm PST. It is understandable that not everyone can make all of the meetings all of the time so we ask that you join a minimum of one per month. This helps in team building and makes for a better community on the playa. A lot of questions are answered in these meetings.
