“Halfway House of Gospel”
The Halfway House of Gospel is a stage play that gives you a look inside of the home of a group of people trying to make their way back into life, after being on drugs in jail or a rehab facility. One man, TC, started this halfway house after a major loss in his life. TC’s goal is to provide a safe place for people to go to transition back into the hustle and bustle of life without being overwhelmed by temptation and the stress.
We are looking for people of all ages and all ethnic backgrounds to play the following:
Jonathan Lewis - Alcoholic that went to treatment during his 2 years in prison for embezzlement.
Shirley Robinson – Addicted to crack cocaine. Spent 90 days in a program after being picked up in a raid of a crack house on the south side. She is 6 months pregnant and a recovering prostitute just released from SAFP - Substance Abuse Felony Program.
Kurtis Hampton – Homeless addict that is a daily pot smoker, who also uses PCP and Valium. He was a self-check-in at Samson Clinic.
Lori Misty – Addicted to Crystal Methamphetamine. She is what we call a revolving treatment addict. She has been in and out of programs since she was 13. She finally completed a program after being admitted in the hospital, when she was found in a meth lab that blew up.
Kari Butler – Pain medication addict that is a mystery to us. Her file came to us very light, no back story information. We only know that she completed a program at the Anderson Clinic that focused on battered women. She was on suicide watch during the beginning of her treatment, but the program believes that she is able to handle being out now.
Jerry Davidson – Does not have a favorite drug. He will take whatever he gets his hands on, anything from sniffing glue to shooting heroin.
Stage play will be on September 10, 2016. Subject to change
We will be filming this show to produce DVDs for sale to help fund the development of the web series for this play.
