| 6/21/2021 15:48:16 | Relentless determination played on an impulsor to allow a unit that disembarked from the impulsor after having made a normal move to charge. Refer to the rarerules update to remaining stationary. Is that still the case. | No. | LSO |
| 6/22/2021 12:46:52 | Is assault dice considered an official GW dice app? | No, unless the initial dice roll is greater than 30 dice. In addition, your opponent must allow you to use the dice app and you must let your opponent use the same dice app. Any refusal is subject to penalities in the CoC. | LSO |
| 6/26/2021 9:44:05 | Do fight lasts such as TSKs Obiescence Generators and Whirlwind Suppression Fire cause units to be ineligible for the counter offensive stratagem? | Yes, per the Core Rule Book's Designers commentary. | LSO |
| 7/1/2021 9:28:40 | Is the bodyguard rule used by Celestian Sacresants (page 106 Sisters Codex) an aura ability that can be shut off by rules that interact with auras? It is not defined as an aura ability in its description, but is quite similar to one. For reference, auras are on page 7 of the core rules pdf defined as: Aura Abilities Some abilities affect models or units in a given range – these are aura abilities. A model with an aura ability is always within range of its effect. The effects of multiple, identically named aura abilities are not cumulative (i.e. if a unit is within range of two models with the same aura ability, that aura ability only applies to the unit once). | Yes, the Bodyguard ability is considered an aura. | LSO |
| 7/1/2021 9:29:44 | Will terrain at the Lone Star Open be the same format as the Atlantic City Open? | We will be creating a document to describe the terrain format shortly for the LSO. Please keep tabs of the FLG website and social media pages for the newest information. | LSO |
| 7/3/2021 13:29:58 | Is there a specific link or email we need to send lists to by the 16th? Or will BCP allow us to register and we post our lists? | The BCP player app should allow you to upload your list. If you have any difficulty, please contact a judge in the player packet. | LSO |
| 7/3/2021 20:58:07 | Another quick ruling before Dallas flip belts and dense terrain, if the ruling for the unit states “moves across as if the it were not there” how would the - modifier for movement work then? | You would ignore the movement penalty. | LSO |
| 7/5/2021 9:22:59 | If a unit disembarks from a transport, it counts as having moved even if it does not move further, and never counts as remaining stationary (page 211of the main book). Does this overrule specific rules (such as the Order of the Argent Shroud, Sisters codex page 62) that allow a unit to move, advance and still fire as if they remained stationary? The way it is written makes me think that it is intended so that you can't disembark, not move, and then count as stationary. But, I can also see a strong argument for a disembarking unit to never count as stationary. | The disembark rule will take precedence. | LSO |
| 7/5/2021 18:01:24 | Sisters of Battle Codex - Relic Sebastian Thor pg 75 - Allows model/unit two sacred rites instead of the the ones active for the rest of your army. Do I need to have pre-selected the two sacred rites (and have on army list) or can I select when I determine the sacred rites for the rest of the army? | Select it when determine the sacred rites for the rest of the army. | LSO |
| 7/5/2021 18:04:42 | Sisters of Battle Codex - Retributor Squad pg 114 - Retributor's are allow two Armorium cherubs. Can I use both in one battle round? If yes, can they both be on the same model or does the second one require that it be used on a different model? | You can use 1 armorum cherub per unit per turn. | LSO |
| 7/5/2021 18:10:09 | Sisters of Battle Codex - Dominion Squad pg 112 - The Holy Vanguard ability allows a pregame move of 6" for a dominion squad. This also applies to the transport they are embarked in. If the transport also has a non-dominion squad embarked, does this disallow the Holy Vanguard ability for the transport or can that extra embarked unit go for the ride? | Yes the transport can utlize the Holy Vanguard ability even with a non-domining model embarked. | LSO |
| 7/5/2021 20:14:19 | Can Argent Shroud Retributors disembark from a rhino, advance and still shoot? Do they suffer -1 to hit? Argent Shroud order conviction states "Each time a unit with this conviction makes a Normal Move or Advances in your movement phase, it counts as having Remained Stationary." (pg. 62) Transports section of basic rules, under "Disembark" section "Units that disembark can then act normally (move, shoot, charge, fight, etc.) in the remainder of the turn, but its models count as having moved that turn, even if they are not moved further (i.e. they never count as having Remained Stationary)." Which rules takes precedence? | The disembark rule will take precedence. | LSO |
| 7/7/2021 0:38:00 | For Space Marine Drop Pods, when they are deployed are they deployed with the hatch doors required to be open? required to be Closed? Either all open or all closed? Or with some open, some closed at the marine player's discretion? | Player discretion, however doors do not count as part of the model when deployed. | LSO |
| 7/8/2021 9:29:38 | Sister of Battle Codex – Overwatch (BRB pg 227) and Bodyguard rule (SoB pg 105&106) – Overwatch rules states “any rule that states the unit cannot be target unless it is the closest target (e.g. Look Out, Sir) does not apply when firing overwatch.” Is it meant to also include rules like the Bodyguard rule which doesn’t utilize “closest” language? While I would think RAI it should just wanted clarification. | The Bodyguard rule would not apply. | LSO |
| 7/8/2021 9:30:43 | Sisters of Battle Codex – Argent Shroud Order (SoB pg 62) and Disembark (BRB pg 211) – Disembark says “…models count as having moved that turn, even if they are not moved further (i.e. they never count as having Remained Stationary).” Argent Shroud says “Each time a unit with this conviction makes a Normal Move or Advances in your movement phase, until the end of the Shooting phase, it counts as having Remained Stationary.” So if an Argent Shroud unit disembarks and makes a normal move with an advance, is it treated as Remained Stationary? | The disembark rule will take precedence. | LSO |
| 7/8/2021 15:39:08 | The spore mine rule living bomb states they are discounted for any victory conditions (pg 99, tyranid codex). How does that interact with the current secondaries. | Does not count towards any secondaries. | LSO |
| 7/8/2021 20:23:01 | For the benefits of any cover, does a unit have to actually be WITHIN the terrain piece, or if I am for example in clear LOS of a model shooting me but I’m touching the terrain (but not within it), would I then receive the benefits of cover on those models touching the the terrain? | The model must be touching the base of terrain in order to be considered on the said terrain. | LSO |
| 7/11/2021 6:03:36 | Does victor of the blood games need to be accounted for in the list or is it used "when a character is set up" during deployment. If I have to pay for it before the tournament begins, how do I account for the stratagem cost on battlescribe since there is no accounting for victor of the blood games. | Yes. When uploading your list to BCP you can manually type in the strat under the approperate model. | LSO |
| 7/11/2021 13:45:07 | Question: Is choosing to Randomize 2 Packs and 1 Damnation per the Chaos Knight Codex permitted at the event? If so, how does this work with the Rune of Nak'T'Graa? How do I reflect this on my list for submission, as it doesn't seem possible via BattleScribe at this time? Packs & Damnations Read: "If your army is Battle-forged, then before the battle you can give one Dreadblade model in each Detachment Packs and Damnations. To give a model Pacts and Damnations, first either select one Pact from the table below, or roll two D6 to randomly generate two Packs from the table (a duplicate result has no effect). After determining the model's Packs, you must either select two different Damnations from the table below or roll one D6 to randomly generate a single Damnation..." I would like to Randomize both my Packs (for 2) and Damnation(s) (for 1). Rune of Nak'T'Graa: Dreadblade model only. A model with this Relic has a 5+ invulnerable save against attacks made with ranged and melee weapons. That model gains ONE additional Dreadblade Pact and ONE additional Damnation of your choice. This would essentially mean I would have a total of 3 Pacts and 2 Damnations. Thank you! | The correct order is 3 pacts (2 random 1 chosen) and 2 damnations (1 random, 1 chosen) | LSO |
| 7/11/2021 19:23:18 | The GT packet refunds CP for a super heavy auxiliary that shares a faction keyword of 2 cp exluding the super faction keywords. Does a knight of the cog questor mechanics imperial knight count as admech for that purpose? | Yes. | LSO |
| 7/11/2021 20:38:46 | As named characters can’t be given relics because they “already have one or more artefacts, and cannot be given any of the following relics” Excerpt From Codex: Astra Militarum Games Workshop LTD Would they be worth 3 VP for the adeptus mechanicus accretion of knowledge secondary? | Yes. | LSO |
| 7/11/2021 22:04:43 | Can we take a second look at the Argent Shroud Retributor disembark interaction? It seems clear that the wording under "disembark" means that a unit cannot *choose* to remain stationary after disembarking. That being said, it seems the Argent Shroud rule gives the condition of "Remained Stationary" to a unit that moves or advances, regardless of w/e conditions it had previously, and regardless of core rules that would disallow it. Specific abilities have always overruled core rules i.e. assault weapons being able to be shot in the shooting phase, even though the rules clearly state that such a unit is not eligible to shoot. | No. | LSO |
| 7/12/2021 12:47:46 | BRB pg. 218 "Heavy" states, "When an INFANTRY model shoots a Heavy weapon, subtract 1 from the hit rolls when resolving that weapon's attacks if the firing model's unit has moved for any reason this turn (e.g. it made a Normal Move (pg 207) this turn). Because the choice to "Remain Stationary" is a type of "Move", just like a "Normal Move" is a type of move, do abilities that count a unit as remaining stationary have any affect on conditions, such as the penalty for moving and firing heavy weapons, or abilities, such as an Exocrine's Symbiotic Targeting ability? | If the exocrine does not move it will benefit from the Symbotic Targeting ability. | LSO |
| 7/12/2021 16:36:21 | Just to clarify a previously asked question, does the Bodyguard ability prevent affected Characters from being targeted by Overwatch? The current ruling states that the “Bodyguard rule does not apply”, but it is unclear as to whether this is in reference to not applying to Overwatch. | Overwatch | LSO |
| 7/12/2021 17:42:58 | At a recent event I was prevented from receiving the benefit of Savage Fury when using the Bestial Nature Space Wolves stratagem on one of my Space Wolves units. At your event, what is the ruling on Savage Fury activating when the Bestial Nature strat or the Instincts Awoken psychic power is used to put a Space Wolves unit into the assault doctrine before turn 3? | Yes, you would be able to go into assault doctrine before turn 3. | LSO |
| 7/12/2021 22:13:41 | Does taking a house raven knight super-heavy detachment, and using the ad mech Metallica "Knight of the Iron Cog" strategem for each knight unit enable you to take ad mech secondaries? The wording on the "Knight of the Iron Cog" strategem, from the book of rust states "the inclusion of this unit in your army does not prevent ADEPTUS MECHANICUS units in your army from using any of the rules that require every model in your army to have the ADEPTUS MECHANICUS keyword." | Yes. | LSO |
| 7/14/2021 14:13:37 | How does a unit receive Light Cover from the Hills on the Field Base Terrain? BRB p.260 - Hills are a separate category than Obstacles, Area Terrain, etc. that do not typically give cover. I'm assuming they'd be played as Obstacles and give light cover to Infantry, Beast, and Swarm within 3" rather than Area Terrain (which would require touching it), but it would be good to clarify. | The terrain would be simular to a runined wall and models would be required to touch the terrain to benifit from light cover. | LSO |
| 7/15/2021 13:26:32 | Can a Freeblade Knight take 'Knight of the Cog' ability? | Yes | LSO |

| 8/21/2021 11:41:06 | Do the additional attacks made by an attack squig that fail to cause damage generate additional attacks with the attacks squig profile or the Warboss close combat weapon profile when using the brutal but Kunnin warlord trait (pg 65 and 84 Ork codex) | Attack squig profile | LVTT |
| 8/21/2021 21:04:05 | Can admech Pteraxii disembark from a dunerider transport and then use the Booster Thrust stratagem at the end of the turn? | No | LVTT |
| 8/22/2021 18:42:05 | Hello - how does the interaction with the Drukhark Succubus with Tryptych whip and the competitive edge Warlord Trait into Necron Warriors. Do I get to reanimate after she throws her first round of attacks and then again when she attacks again? This is worded poorly in the Drukhari codex. No reason why a 60 point character can pick up a unit of 20 warriors or 10 lychgaurd. Thank you! | You roll reanimation protocols after they have completed all their attacks. | LVTT |
| 8/22/2021 19:03:15 | Hello - the necrons command Protocol gives a directive that a unit receives the benefits of cover, but it isn't actual cover. So if a rule removes the effects of cover, like from the Aeldari custom craft world masterful shots,.does that remove my protocol directive? | Yes, if an enemy unit has a rule, such as Masterful Shots, that states that the targeted unit "does not receive the benefit of cover..." then it removes the effect from the protocol | LVTT |
| 8/23/2021 18:12:50 | Good Day - if I have multiple lords/overlords who have the Relentless March Aura, do I get +1 to move with each one from 6 inches of each lord? It doesn't say that these don't stack. THANK YOU! | multiple of the same aura do not stack | LVTT |
| 8/24/2021 13:49:15 | Hi! My name is Shawn Allen, I had a question concerning play for a Sisters' Battle Sactumn. Pic for reference below. My question is: What constitutes being "within" the terrain as GW hasn't made it clear. It is considered Area Terrain and I know that the answer varies depending on the event. So is being within terrain crossing the threshold, under the upper levels, touching the piece with the base of the model, or something different? Thank you for your time! And thank you for what do for the community! Sincerely, Shawn Allen | Touching the wall of a ruin counts as being on/in | LVTT |
| 8/24/2021 23:15:51 | The recent Core Rule FAQ (page 8) made an update regarding units that can have any special rules that allow them to count as stationary or not moving, even if they had moved. The Death Guard have a an ability (Inexorable) that allows infanty to count as Remaining Stationary even if they moved. A Chaos character can summon a demon unit if they did not move in the movement phase. So my question is this: Can a Death Guard character move and still summon a demon unit? Thank you for your time, John | No. The rules states "instead of moving" and there is no mention of remaining stationary. You give up the model's movement phase to summon | LVTT |
| 8/25/2021 9:59:41 | Can an Adeptus Custodes player, after an opponent has activated a fighting unit, utilize the 2 cp generic counter offensive stratagem and the Custodes specific Indomitable Guardians stratagem to be able to activate two units back to back. Essentially can you activate both stratagems and resolve their affects--allowing you to select two different units to activate/interrupt the normal sequence of the fight phase--one after another before the opponent can selecting a different charging unit? | No, you may only use one of the stratagem | LVTT |
| 8/26/2021 0:45:15 | Does the new Be'lakor allow/benefit from Daemon Loci if in the correct Detachment? | Yes, if Belakor is not the warlord | LVTT |
| 9/1/2021 18:09:00 | Hello - Necron custom Dynasty Relentlessly Expansionist and a Doom Scythe. I elect to move my plane with this, it can only move 6 inches, which is below the minimum move and therefore placed in strategic reserves and/or I move part off it the table, also putting it in strategic reserves. This is specifically covered on page 212 in the core rulebook, "if an aircraft cannot make its minimum move, or it's minimum move would result in any part of the model cross the ensge of the battlefield it would go into strategic reserves, page 256-257 rulebook. Dallas open did rule that thus interaction would happen too. I have also emailed GW a bunch, no clarity. Thanks! | The Doom Scythe would go into reserves if it was the Movement Phase. Since it is not the movement phase, flyers just move the 6" and do not go into reserves | LVTT |
| 9/2/2021 10:50:27 | Are 3D printed models allowed, especially if they are high quality, very close to the original, and painted well? | They are allowed | LVTT |
| 9/3/2021 12:22:25 | Hello! I am bringing an ORK list to this event. I need to 1. Get my Warboss on Squig cleared for play. 2. Ask if I am required to bring and play the grot models with my Mek Gun? Please respond at your earliest convenience. Thank you for your time. -Eric Forsman | 1. for conversion/proxy approvals you can send an email to bahkara@gmail.com 2. The grot models need to be with the gun | LVTT |
| 9/7/2021 14:23:49 | Can Drukhari stratagem Insidious Misdirection be used at the start of the battle to allow reserves to come on after turn 3? The stratagem happens at the start of the first battle round. The strategic reserve rules say the coming on by turn 3 does not apply to units that go into reserves once the first battle round starts. Drukhari stratagem page 55 Reserve rules GT2021 Section 10 page 6 last sentence | The models put in reserve would have to come in by turn 3 or be considered destroyed | LVTT |
| 9/9/2021 20:43:03 | Can a single grey knights psycher cast a sanctic power more than once? In the big rulebook under manifesting psychic powers it says a Psycher cannot cast smite more than once. In the psychic convergence part of the GK codex above sanctic powers it says you can cast a sanctic power even if another psycher has casted it. There is nothing that says a psycher can not cast a power other than smite more than once. So can a single grey knights psycher cast a Sanctic power more than once with the mental focus strat? A good example would be a Libby casting purifying flame twice and then vortex of doom. | You cannot cast the same santic power twice by the same unit | LVTT |
| 9/11/2021 18:24:43 | Couple of questions for the #LVTT. Will Argent Shroud count as stationary if they've disembarked and made an advance move? Their rule states after they've made a normal move or advance move, core rules state that after disembarking a unit doesn't count as remaining stationary, however, the Argent Shroud special rule would seem to over ride this provided a normal move or advance move was made. I think GW meant that disembarking and not moving still counted as moving. Will two armorium cherubs be able to be used in the same turn? The App's rule doesn't show the same restrictions as the hard copy rule book. It simply states that after a model has shot the Cherub can be used to make a model shoot again. Thanks! | 1. They still suffer the penalty for moving 2. 1 cherub per unit per turn | LVTT |
| 9/12/2021 20:21:21 | My question is regarding Grey knights tide of shadows. "While this Tide is dominant for your army, each time a ranged attack made by an enemy model more than 12" away from this unit targets this unit, models in this unit are treated as receiving the benefits of Light Cover. If every model in this unit was already receiving the benefits of Light Cover, models in this unit are also treated as receiving the benefits of Dense Cover" My question is, does my unit need to be more than 12 inches away to gain the dense cover part of this rule, or is being in light cover regardless of range give my unit dense cover. | Both parts need to be met, so 12" or more away and every model in unit in light cover | LVTT |
| 9/13/2021 20:24:37 | Hello, when a model either hovering puts their smallest part of their hull over an objective does this count as holding? Or does the base of the Hovering model need to be touching the mat/ objective distance? | If the model's datasheet says to measure to the hull when measuring distance, then yes, any part of the model would hold the objective. | LVTT |
| 9/14/2021 0:36:26 | For the vital Intel mission, the designers note says the minimum distance between deployment zones is 24in and the that the 15in by 20in is an easy to get the corners. This puts the shortest distance at 25in (yay Pythagoras, I'm a math teacher, I can't help myself). Are we using the blue guidelines, or 24in? Thank you! | 24inches | LVTT |
| 9/14/2021 21:16:45 | For Adeptus Sororitas Argent Shroud Conviction, will Argent Shroud units that disembark from a rhino be eligible to move/advance and count as remaining stationary in the shooting phase per the order conviction? | They still suffer the penalthy for moving | LVTT |
| 9/15/2021 1:20:27 | How is the green tide Secondary for orks being ruled? Is the table quarter drawn in the traditional way by bisecting the table horizontally l and vertically? Or does the ork player get to choose? Thank you! | bisect the table horizontally and vertically | LVTT |
| 9/15/2021 11:35:11 | Does the Grey Knight litany (chaplain power) when in Tide of Convergence cause 1 mortal wound or 2? (This is a pretty common topic of discussion, just ask the nearer GK player if you don’t know what I’m talking about). | 2 MW for the first 6 instances, then 1 MW thereafter, per the GW FAQ | LVTT |
| 9/17/2021 13:30:24 | In the manifesting psychic powers section of the main rule book, it says “with the exception of smite” no power can be cast twice by either a psycher or multiple psychers. And it says SPECIFICALLY that smite can not be cast by the same psycher. In the Grey Knights codex it says in psychic convergence that “sanctic powers” can be cast multiple times with increasing charge, and purifying flame is in the sanctic section. Overriding the big rule book. Mentioning nothing about the same psycher. There is a stratagem called mental focus that allows a unit to cast multiple powers. Can one librarian from GK cast purifying flame twice with the strat?! Because the only exception I see is smite, and nothing that says two sanctic powers can’t be cast by one psycher. Can you confirm that? | A unit may only attempt a power once per psychic phase | LVTT |
| 10/6/2021 9:55:08 | A couple questions regarding the latest Ork Codex- 1. Brutal But Kunnin' WT- the rule for BBK states the model can "make a number of additional attacks against that enemy unit equal to the number attacks that did not reach the Inflict Damage step of the attack sequence during that fight." Under the rules for the Beastboss on the Squigosaur, it states under the Squigosaur's Jaws weapon profile "Each time an attack is made with this weapon, an unmodified wound of 6 inlficts 3 mortal wounds on the target and the attack sequence ends." The BRB states Mortal Wounds are only inflicted after all attacks that the model makes are fully resolved. Does this mean that if the Squigosaur Jaws rolls a 6 to wound, it triggers an additional attack from BBK? 2. Also regarding the above, it states under the Squigosaur's Jaws "no more than 3 attacks can be made with this weapon." If the Jaws miss or fail to wound, must the new attacks generated be taken with the units Beast Choppa or are they taken with the Jaws? 3. Transports (and Trukkboyz)- in 9e codexes, unit rules use the language of "when the model makes a ranged attack, add/subtract 1 to that roll." Examples include the Astartes Obscuration Hallucination (each time a model in that unit makes an attack, subtract 1 from that attack's hit roll.) and the Trukkboyz special rule (while any Trukkboyz units are embarked upon a Trukk, each time that Trukk Model makes a ranged attack, add 1 to that attacks hit roll). Under the Rare Rules FAQ, under transports it stated that any modifiers to a transports ranged attacks are also applied to any units embarked. Since those above rules state "when the model makes an attack" do those modifiers NOT apply to embarked units since they go away when the model isn't making an attack? Or is the modifier considered to be on for the whole phase? 4. Trukkboyz- if a transport moves and Trukk Boyz use their rule to disembark, do they count as having already moved and thus cannot make an additional move or advance? There is an FAQ for a similar rule for the Soaring Spit WT but nothing about it in the Ork FAQ. 5. Strategem Groundshaker Shells- the strategem states "Use this strategem in your Shooting Phase when selecting a target for the 'Eavy Lobba. Until the end of the phase, each time that model makes a ranged attack, if a hit is scored against a model that is not Titannic and Cannot Fly, then until the start of your next movement phase, halve the Move Characteristic of models in the target unit and subtract 2 from the result of Advance and charge rolls made for that unit." a.) How long does the effect last on affected units? b.) The strategem doesn't specify only the 'eavy lobbas attacks, only ranged attacks. Does this mean I can declare three separate targets (1 for Wurgh Tower, 1 for Stikka Kannon, 1 for 'Eavy Lobba), and apply this effect to all three enemy units? | 1. The WLT says when the Warlord fights, not the squigosaur, so the answer is no 2. Not relavent due to the answer to #1 3. They DO apply to the embarked unit 4. They can still move normally 5a. The effect last until the Ork player's next shooting phase 5b. The stratagem specifies to choose 1 'eavy Lobba and only THAT (emphasis mine) model can cause the result of the stratagem. | SoCal |
| 10/8/2021 12:49:05 | Interactions with the Malevolent Charge Cabalistic Ritual for Thousand Sons. Do you actually have to cause mortals wounds to enemy units to trigger the additional D3 mortal wounds? Or does the power that was successfully manifest only need to have the ability to do mortal wounds? Example 1 - Smite causes 1 mortal wound to the nearest unit, this is neither mortal wounds (plural) or enemy units (also plural) Example 2 - Smite causes 3 mortal wounds to the nearest enemy unit, wounds (plural) satisfied but units (plural) not satisfied. Example 3 - Gaze of Hate, may or may not cause any mortal wounds at all, can it trigger Malevolent Charge? | You have to cause a mortal wound | SoCal |
| 10/8/2021 13:04:21 | Can an Argent Shroud unit Disembark from a transport, Advance, and still fire heavy weapons per the Deeds Not Words ability that says: Each time a unit with this conviction makes a Normal Move or Advances in your Movement phase, until the end of your Shooting phase, it counts as having Remained Stationary. | They still count as having moved as they are still under the effects of disembarking from the vehicle | SoCal |

Meaning on its next movement phase, it cannot make a normal move or advance and can only make a fall back move? | Per the Core Rulebook, Aircraft can make a normal move or advance move even if within engagement range of an enemy model | SoCal |
| 10/11/2021 1:50:02 | When a Noise Marine unit suffers casualties while within engagement range of enemy models, can I first pull the models within engagement range of enemy models (firing their pistols) before pulling models outside of engagement range (and thus firing their assault, rapid fire or heavy weapons since the unit is no longer engaged)? | Yes | SoCal |

| 10/12/2021 9:46:00 | This is a question for SoCal Open regarding the Foul Infusion ability for the Biologus Putrifier. Are you able to stack this ability on a single unit twice, first during your own Charge or Fight phase, then again during your opponent's Fight phase? | You cannot stack that ability per the GW FAQ | SoCal |
| 10/12/2021 9:48:36 | This is a question for SoCal Open. If you take Typhus in a non-Harbingers detachment, does the Herald of Nurgle ability allow you to use the Plague Company Relic & Stratagem, or only the Contagion? | If the rest of the detachment has the same Plague Company, they get access to that plague company's relics, stratagem and warlord trait | SoCal |
| 10/12/2021 12:13:48 | Is there a formal ruling regarding how player placed terrain works when you cannot fit a piece of terrain on the table? At LVTT, judges said the table is designed to fit all the terrain, however, tables can be set up in such a way that bigger pieces cannot fit anywhere. Do players start over? Or do we shift terrain slightly so things can fit. Thank you | You would nudge the terrain on the table, as little as possible, in order to fit the terrain piece | SoCal |
| 10/12/2021 16:14:06 | If a character has 2 wounds remaining and they use the blade of sacrifice relic to lose 2 wounds during their fight activation would they get to resolve their attacks or be removed as a casualty immediately? | The loss of wounds takes place when the unit is selected and the choice of wounds to use is made. As a result, if a player chooses to lose 2 wounds then they are removed as a casualty immediately. | SoCal |
| 10/12/2021 21:26:42 | This question is for SoCal Open. Does the Gaze of Fate psychic power allow you to reroll a single dice or an entire dice roll? For instance, can I reroll one dice for a charge roll, both dice, or either? Gaze of Fate: If manifested, you can re-roll a single dice roll later in your turn. | Per the Core rulebook glossary, when rerolling a dice roll, you roll the entire dice roll | SoCal |
| 10/15/2021 1:47:53 | Regarding the Chaos Daemons' "Banner of Blood" upgrade on page 126 of the Chaos Daemons codex, if the Bloodletter unit in question has used it's "once per game" 3D6" charge ability, but then is slain by a Grey Knights unit, and is then brought back by the "Daemonic Incursion" stratagem on the same page, would the Banner of Blood be brought back with them since it is an upgrade? Would it also then be allowed to be used again since revived units count as new units according to the BRB rules on revived units on page 363? According to Engine War page 95, in regards to the "G'rmakht the Destroyer" relic, it would seem to point out that in normal circumstances, relics, upgrades, and WL traits would normally be revivable, since this relic has to point out that when using it, the model in question loses some of these traits. | The banner does not come back with the unit as it is considered a new unit, not the same unit, per the page that was referenced in the BRB | SoCal |
| 10/15/2021 18:26:11 | Attending: SoCal Open I my list has a Cult of Strife detachment but not a Cult of Strife warlord, can I use the Prizes from the Dark City stratagem to give that character a relic from the Cult of Strife found in the Book of Rust? Thanks! | In order to use Cult of strife relics, the Warlord must be from Cult of Strife | SoCal |

| 11/30/2021 13:24:18 | 1. Question regarding the Iron Hands superdoctrine Calculated Fury: "Whilst the Devastator Doctrine is active, models with this ability do not suffer the penalty for moving and firing heavy weapons." Do devastators that arrive on Turn 1 in a Drop Pod while Devastator Doctrine is active shoot at their ballistic skill or at -1? 2. Can Auspex Scan and similar abilities target units that are disembarking from a drop pod, or just the drop pod itself. | 1. Balistic Skill 2. Just the Drop Pod | LVO |
| 12/6/2021 23:02:15 | For the LVO can a SM chaplain using the commanding oratory stratagem recite a litany that he does not know? | No | LVO |
| 12/6/2021 23:05:51 | For the LVO, question is about the Dark Angels secondary Stubborn Defiance. Can different units score the secondary assuming they have been on the objective multiple turns, or must a unit be declared? For example units A and B are on the nominated objective all game and unit A is killed on the bottom of turn 4. At the start of turn 5 can unit B score 5 points since they have been on the objective for the required amount of turns? | Yes, as long as the unit scoring fully meets the requirements involved they are scoring the objective. | LVO |

| 12/9/2021 11:02:04 | World Killers - 3 CP - Use this Stratagem at the start of any battle round. Until the end of that battle round, enemy units cannot use any abilities that allow them to control an objective marker (e.g. Objective Secured) if there are any BLACK LEGION units from your army within range of that objective marker, even if there are more enemy models within range of it. Warzone Charadon - Book of Fire Page - 102 This is specific to Cherokee Open I have seen 2 rulings on this: 1. The only ability this cancels is Objective secured. Models can still control if they outnumber my Black legion models. 2. This prevents my opponent from controlling any objective that my models are in range of. | 2. Your Black Legion unit controls the objective regardless of being outnumbered. | LVO |
| 12/22/2021 17:04:50 | For my guard Russ tanks I have all battle cannons and want to proxi and run them as Demolisher cannons is this ok? I’m new to tourney play. And I am going to attend the 40K main tournament | No, your army must be modeled correctly, Conversions are allowed, but using Proxies/Counts as is not. | LVO |
| 12/15/2021 4:55:06 | end game - what is the actual ruling? I realise there may be multiple ways - talking it out, hard dice down at 3 hours, finish game round etc. - but IF you end high up the rankings and it really matters, is there a rule in place? | LVO has a hard dice down rule when time is called. If you are worried about finishing the game in a fair and equitable manner you need to bring it to the attention of the judging staff prior to the round ending. The earlier the better. | LVO |
| 12/17/2021 19:05:03 | Are large models which base measure (such as the harridan) allowed to move, shoot, etc. turn 1 on dawn or war so long as the base fits wholly within the deployment zone even if the wings overhang the front of the deployment zone? | The model must fit, not just the base. | LVO |
| 12/20/2021 7:27:09 | Regarding the "Encircling Hounds" stragatem for Chaos Knights: Use this Stratagem during deployment. Select one HOUSE KHOMENTIS WAR DOGS unit from your army. You can set up this unit encircling the foe, instead of setting it up on the battlefield. If you do, at the end of one of your Movement phases you can set up this unit anywhere on the battlefield that is within 6" of a battlefield edge and more than 9" from any enemy models. The War Dogs Vehicle Squadron ability only takes effect when this unit is set up on the battlefield, not when it is set up encircling the foe. You can only use this Stratagem once per battle. Is this to be read that the Veichle Squadron ability doesnt take effect, and each model can be placed separately on different locations at any board edge? | Yes, they may be set up separately when using this stratagem. War Dog Moirax are considered War Dogs for rules purposes. | LVO |
| 12/20/2021 16:22:55 | Can you fast roll a number of dice (for instance, 10 saves) and then use a CP reroll and/or Moment of Grace after seeing the results of these dice? | Yes | LVO |
| 11/28/2021 14:41:08 | With regards to the Necrons custom Dynasty trait of a 6 inch normal pregame move, if I have a Doomscythe aircraft, does this automatically put this in reserve since I can't move my minimum distance? This has been ruled they it does work this way in every event I have attended this year, including LVTT, just making sure though. Thanks!! | The ruling is the same as other FLG events. | LVO |
| 11/29/2021 8:34:12 | How does the goff clan trait (pg52)), the additional attacks from a squigisaur (pg 91), and the warlord trait brutal but kunnin interact (pg65)? | It can generate extra attacks but the attacks must be made with the Choppa and not the jaws. | LVO |
| 12/22/2021 1:02:48 | Can you clarify our response to the Drop Pod doors question: "Player discretion, however doors do not count as part of the model when deployed." Which players discretion? If the doors do not count as part of the model when deployed, does this mean they do not count for LOS blocking if left up? What do they count as instead? terrain / part of the battlefield etc.? | The owning player's discretion is used for Drop Pod doors. They are ignored for measurement purposes, and for placement of other models in terms of engagement range etc if deployed down but are used for determining Line of Sight if left up. A player must always play the drop pods the same for the entire event and may not switch back and forth between games, nor in the course of a single game. The doors must all be played the same by a player, no mixing and matching. | LVO |
| 12/22/2021 0:43:51 | For the purposes of the Dark Angels secondary Stubborn Defiance. Does a unit who controlled an objective in a mission with Data Terminals, still count as the controlling unit for the purposes of scoring the secondary objective? Data Terminals: The objective markers in this mission represent data terminals. In this mission, if you control an objective marker at the end of your Command phase, it remains under your control unless your opponent controls it at the end of any subsequent phase, even if you have no models within range of it. | No. The Dark Angels unit for Stubborn Defiance uses the normal definition for controlling an objective, not the Mission Specific determination for holding the Primary Objective. | LVO |
| 12/23/2021 10:03:39 | Can a Judicer take the relic master crafted weapon from the BT codex? | Yes, the Execution relic blade is not a "Relic". | LVO |
| 12/28/2021 21:06:47 | How do Soulburner Petards on Chaos Decimators (wherin a wound roll of 2+ inflicts a mortal wound and the attack sequence ends) interact with 'Transhuman'-like abilities (which states a model/unit gains an ability wherein a wound roll of 1-3 always fails regardless of other abilities)? Is the wound roll independent of that and a wound roll of 2 "fails" but still inflicts a mortal wound or does the "failure" also override the mortal wound rule? | Transhuman, and rules like it, do not override the Soul Burner Petard inflicting Mortal Wounds on a 2+ | LVO |
| 12/17/2021 13:46:41 | In General: Are Army of Renown restrictions only checked once in the "Muster" step like other ‘IF EVERY UNIT IN YOUR ARMY’ rules? Specifically: Can Tervigons spawn Gaunts if they are in a "Crusher Stampede" Army of Renown? Can you use the 'Sporefield' Strat. What happens when you shoot and miss with a Biovore. | Army of Renown restrictions, similar to those that fall under "If Every Unit in Your Army" rules, are checked for validity when you're finished mustering your army ie creating your army list. If you spawn/summon units once a game has begun you are not in violation of the Army of Renown rules. | LVO |

Is it possible to get 1 power from both trees (Hive mind and Mass Convergence). If not does that bullet point not exist if you have Mass Convergence powers or do you get to generate one additional Mass Convergence power. | Yes. 110 | 12/27/2021 15:13:37 | 1. If a dimachaeron is destroyed and uses Death Surge stratagem, would the thorax spine maw activate before it is removed from play? 2. Can a Leviathan psyker character (such as a neurothrope) in a crusher stampede army of renown select one power from the mass convergence discipline and then be equipped with the void crown relic and select an additional power from the hive mind discipline as described by the relic? | 1: No. The Dima is removed from the table immediately after resolving its attacks. 2: Yes, you must select powers from Hive Mind with Void Crown, even if previous powers are from Mass Convergence. | LVO |
| 12/27/2021 12:55:51 | The spororcyst's Bombardment Organism rules allow it to deploy before the start of first turn "anywhere on the battlefield that is more than 9" away from enemy models." Does this fall under the "unless otherwise stated" rider on deployment restrictions for units with the fortifications battlefield role and allow it to be set up within 3" of a terrain feature? Note also that the Sporocyst itself is a monster, and does not have the terrain or building keyword. | Yes. A sporocyst can be deployed within 3 of terrain. | LVO |
| 1/4/2022 18:21:06 | Custodes Martial K'atah (the stances) (according to the shadowthrone rules) are an ability on the datasheet of units, like angel of death is for space marines. By the time the rules lock in for lvo is, GW will have most likely not have updated the forge world units to have the Martial K'atah rules. Will all forgeworld custodes units not be able to benefit from the stances from the codex then for LVO? | If there is no update for them then they will not get stances | LVO |

| 1/6/2022 | What detachments can <UNALIGNED> units be included in? 9th ed books have a provision that they don't break faction bonuses, but it's unclear if they can be in the Detachment in the first place...? | They must be in their own detachment | LVO |
| 1/6/2022 | Can you give Swarmlord a relic? | NO | LVO |
| 1/2/2022 | When using the army of renown for deathwatch, if I use the strat Specialism Etremis, will the auto wound effect be triggered off of weapon that auto hit like flamers or deathwatch shotguns? | No, a roll to hit must be made in order for there to be an automatic wound. | LVO |
| 1/9/2022 | Regarding the new custodes vexilla granting “the benefits of dense cover,” does this stack with a unit being in dense terrain since they are different sources and dense terrain has a different requirement? The GW FAQ actually introduces more confusion to this… as it states that the negative modifier is NOT imposed by a unit that has the benefits of cover. Simply by the terrain feature being between the two… so if they “have the benefits of dense terrain” they have a -1 and the shots firing over the terrain technically are modified by a different source. | They do not stack | LVO |
| 1/17/2022 13:29:00 | Stratagems that are used in the command phase, that say a "select one unit from your army" how do they apply to unit in reserve or deepstrike not in a transport? The new Custodes codex has a number of strategems that affect units in the command phase but do not say on the battlefield. | Units that are not on the battlefield, such as those in reserves, cannot benefit from a stratagem, nor be the target of one. | LVO |
| 1/10/2022 23:26:19 | The Custodian relic Praetorian Plate states, "At the heroic intervention step of your opponents charge phase, this unit may perform a teleport-shunt. Remove the bearer from the battlefield and set it up within 3in of a friendly unit and within engagement Range of an enemy unit. The bearer cannot perform a heroic intervention in the same turn". Since this ability is not a heroic intervention, and specifically says the unit can not perform a heroic intervention in the same turn, would an enemy who charged, and did not declare the relic holder as a target, be able to fight the relic holder? | Yes, enemy units can pick the model with the Praetorian Plate as a target for attacks. Treat a model that has used this ability as if it made a heroic intervention. | LVO |
| 1/15/22 | Does Crusher Stampede fight on death stratagem combine with things like Lashwhips to allow you to fight twice when your model dies? | No, only the one additional time. | LVO |
| 1/9/2022 | Can you use the Martial Discretion stratagem to have a unit benefit from a martial ka'tah that normally cannot benefit from a ka'tah? | No. The stratagem states "that unit benefits from that stance, instead of the active stance(s) of your army." Meaning the unit the strat targets must already be an eligible beneficiary of a ka'tah. | LVO |
