Dual degree Law and International Public Affairs students complete a required 111 credits (75 law and 36 public affairs).
37
A law degree required 90 credits, 15 of which may be ontained from the MIPA program (75 of which must be law credits). The 15 credits from the MIPA program will not apply toward the J.D. until the student has
38
completed the MIPA program. The two programs may be completed simultaneously.
39
If a law student takes more than 75 law credits, the extra credits may be considered as electives toward the International Public Affairs degree if they are policy related.
40
This is a sample course plan, some students complete year 1 as a law student, year 2 taking mostly international public affairs courses, and finishing the MIPA in the third or fourth year.
41
*Students choose either PA 854 or PA 856 (spring only)
42
**Recommended but not required. A maximum of 3 credits can be accrued for internship via multiple internships or one worth 3 credits.

45
This course plan is intended to serve as a resource for students to ensure they complete all program requirements but is not the only path that students can take. For specific advising questions contact Mo O'Connor at mcoconnor@lafollette.wisc.edu
46
Students should meet with Emily Kite at the UW-Madison Law School in the spring of their 1L year. Additionally, they should meet with the Law School's registrar before their final semester.
