Building on “Jesse”, Tracey’s second short, “Brooklyn United”, found even greater success and international acclaim. “B.U.” screened at the Cannes Film Festival Short Corner, won the Audience Award at the SENE Film and Music Festival and also won the Platinum Remi Award at WorldFest Houston. Tracey then helmed her first feature documentary, “Not Black Enough”. The film stars Professor Henry Louis Gates of Harvard University, actress Vanessa Williams and Grammy Nominated Rapper Petey Pablo. “NBE” won film festivals worldwide, including the Women of the World festival in Dubai, as well as film festivals including the Austin Revolution, The Buffalo-Niagara and Roxbury International Film Festivals. Along with “Jesse” and “B.U.”, “Not Black Enough” is available on Amazon Prime, where it is currently the most viewed black documentary. Tracey completed her second feature, “Livingston Taylor – Life Is Good”, an exploration on the life and work of noted singer songwriter Livingston Taylor, and how his artistry has impacted audiences, as well as his students at Berklee College Of Music. The film stars Carly Simon, Ian Anderson, Ben and Kate Taylor, who all explore Livingston’s unique relationship to world around him. The film won the Van Gogh Award at the Amsterdam Film Festival, and was an official selection at the 27th Woods Hole Film Festival. Like her earlier films, it enjoys world-wide distribution. Tracey has recently completed her 3rd feature, “There She is”, a study of beauty pageants in the “Me Too” era. Since then, I’ve directed, edited & produced numerous independent projects and films. In June 2019, I completed two short docs which I directed, edited and produced in collaboration with UnionDocs. A large part of the cinematography in “By Way of Canarsie” involved shooting 16mm and Super-8 which was integral to the subject matter and my practice as an analog filmmaker. In 2017 I began producing a feature-length investigative documentary titled “NIKKO” detailing the story and events of a convicted serial killer with severe mental-illness on death row in Nebraska. Ultimately, Lande hopes to contribute to increased control, ownership, and management of media for content creators of African descent across all available content platforms. Ariam is known by her incredible narration style. She has written several short stories, poems and dramas. Over the past one decade, she has worked in a wide variety of professional capacities from a private sector to a national radio and television and has achieved many awards. Thus far, Ariam has written and directed two films “ Yoel Ab Fetene”(Joel's hardship) and “Yiqre Nmen" (Forgiveness for Whom). "Forgiveness for whom?" is an award winning film at the Silicon Valley African Film Festival CA 2017 and in "Houston International film festival" 2020. It was also the first Eritrean feature film screened at the AMC theatre in Dallas, TX 2019, and received very good feedback from audiences. In 2014 Ariam published a book that contains poems and short stories titled "Kdmi qedamay"(Prime of the prime) and it was the bestseller book in that year in Eritrea. Ariam was also a host for the Art program in the Eritrean national Television, and also for youth program in Eritrean National Radio between the years 2009 and 2013. In 2015, she is the first in Eritrea to have an Independent Talk show called ‘Aru-Show’.It was the highest-rated live hosted show at that time was featured elegant stylish, folk, and modern music. Recently in 2019, Ariam was working on teaching a course called ‘An Introduction to Art’ to an interested groups with Eritrean community of Santa Clara in collabration with Global Communication Education And Art in Oakland, CA.
