2	This spreadsheet contains estimates derived from different sources:
3		Composting sites with the regulatory status of Permitted and Notification were provided to us in one spreadsheet by CalRecycle. Please see the CalRecycle Unedited Datasheet tab or Appendix E: Data Gathering Methods for more information.
4			"Permitted" is broken down into permitted sites that accept food waste for processing and permitted sites that do not. Generally, permitted composting sites are larger, and are therefore referred to as commercial composting sites.
5			"Notification" is for sites that are not fully permitted and are generally agricultural and green composting sites.
6		The Dairy Composting data was compiled using two distinct datasheets and some internal calculations by PFL. For the full details of these calculations, please see Appendix C: Manure Composting Cost Analysis and Appendix E: Data Gathering Methods. The total estimated excreted manure was calculated. The list of dairies found to be composting were listed as participating in CDFA's Alternate Manure Management Program. The estimated throughput was found by cross-referencing these dairies with our Water Boards data set, found in Appendix A: Feedstock Availability
7		The estimated throughput for Community Composting was provided by the California Alliance for Community Composting (CACC) and LA Compost. Granular data on the diversions of each active composting site was not provided.
