INSTRUCTIONS
• This worksheet is for inputting data for disclosures under GHG Protocol Scope 3, Category 1 "Purchased goods and services" – covering IT Hardware, covering all computers, laptops, screens, server racks, devkits, etc. GHG emissions covered here are the embodied emissions, in the devices or objects themselves, which have been produced through the manufacturing process, the transport of the device, and the end-of-life expected disposal/recycling emissions of the product (excludes use phase emissions – these are expected to be largely covered by Scope 2 during the use of the product).

• Option 1 provides a place for supplier-specific figures, based on data sheets obtained from suppliers.
• Option 2 provides a methodology for an average device CO2 footprint based on comparable devices (if extant)
• Option 3 is a simple spend-based methodology that allows for quick and simple calculation of any/all remaining IT spend not already covered by Option 1 or 2.

• Read instructions for each method before completing (smaller text below each large heading)
• Working from left to right, one row at a time, fill the red shaded boxes with your collected data. Remaining cells should auto-calculate based on data input.
• For questions, feedback, or bug reports – please email ben@sustainablegamesalliance.org

*** FUTURE FEATURES:
– Option 2 is in development with data centre supplier partners.
– More options for regional/national EFs via EXIOBASE EFs for European DC spending.

NB – Ensure that IT Hardware purchases are only included in one method to avoid double counting. e.g. If you use Option 1 for GHG footprints of specific devices, do not include these items in your Option 3 calculations, by removing the cost of the devices covered in Option 1 from the Total IT Hardware spend.

Option 1 – Supplier embodied carbon emissions
In this method, users of the standard collect embodied GHG emissions from IT Hardware directly from supplier data sheets, or other sources.

Option 2 – Average device embodied emissions / device family
In this method, users of the standard use average emobied emissions figures for the type of device – e.g. smartphone, desktop, etc. Currently requires further research to establish reasonable baselines.

KNOWN ISSUES:
• Not currently in use, requires more research and data collection

Option 3– spend-based method
In this method, users of the standard collect data centre spend data and apply a single, simple spend-based emissions factor.

FUTURE FEATURES:
• Expand from using a single USEEIO EF to allow the use of EXIOBASE EFs for European DCs where possible
• Allow for inflation currency adjustments for more years
