Venice Beach Interactive Right to Health Display

Hosted by GlobeMed at UCLA & GlobeMed at USC. We will set up a table on the boardwalk in Venice Beach. Our art display will include a giant chalkboard where people can write what the right to health means to them, and a giant map where they can pin places in the world they would like to see changes in the healthcare system. We will have GlobeMed chapter members asking people questions about healthcare and engaging people on the boardwalk. Depending on the crowd we draw, the day could end with a candlelight vigil at sunset.

But even they have lack of facilities at the hospital; they are managing available resources and giving the best services to the patients.

There are some of data in 2012, All the public hospitals of the country have provided outdoor service for more than 130 million patients and through the indoor service, they have provided for more than 4 million patients. In our country doctor and patient ratio indicate for the one doctor has to look after 3297 patients (1:3297), for the one nurse has to look after 11,000 patients (1:11,000), one medical technologist has 27842 patients.

<hoct25country>Uganda -- Iganga</hoct25country></br><hoct25country2>Health as a Human Right in Lake Victoria Fishing Communities (March/Rally)</hoct25country2></br><hoct25country3> Organized by: Heather Zimmerman, hzimm32@gmail.com</hoct25country3></br>Uganda Health and Development Associates (UDHA), an NGO that provides integrated outreach health services in eastern Uganda for under-served communities. UDHA targets communities that have not received appropriate access or quality of health care services, due to being remote, low-income, or stigma. UDHA serves the remote, resource poor fishing communities on the islands in Lake Victoria, among others. Many of these islands do not have a health care facility, forcing residents to chose between traveling to the main land (which can be timely and costly) or going without vital health care services. UDHA works to provide greater health knowledge at the local level and lobby district level administrators for facility renovations and improvements.
UDHA will hold a variety of activities on both Serinyabi and Kaaza islands on 25 October. We will travel will formal health providers, who will provide islanders with important health services in the field, including: child immunizations, antenatal care, HIV testing and counseling, STI screening, and Vitamin demonstrations. Additionally, UDHA staff will organize demonstrations that illustrate the barriers for islanders to accessing appropriate health services, highlighting both prohibitive costs and transportation times. There will also be a rally and petitions gathered, which will be formally submitted to the national government along with a letter demanding provision of greater access to health facilities by islanders. UDHA will garner extra attention for the event by bringing tv reporters to both islands.

Since Global Action Day is on Saturday 2014-10-25 the Teddy Bear Clinic planned the campaign for Friday 2014-10-24 to accommodate the learners during school hours.

Learners will be provided the opportunity to post letters/completed questionnaires to the Teddy Bear Clinic, which TTBC can use for advocacy, call to action and awareness, in order to enable learners to have safe schools. The Teddy Bear Clinic will provide each participating school with big red branded bins to be placed in visible and easily accessible locations on the school grounds for the learners to post their letter or completed questionnaires in.

The questionnaires or letters that will be available for the learners to complete and drop into the red branded TTBC bins will have the following questions on:
1. What is your biggest worry at school?
2. What would you like to see happen about this?

The information received through the completed letters or questionnaires will be captured by the professional staff at the Teddy Bear Clinic. A report will be compiled on the data collected and shared with Department of Education and schools.

The health situation of coastal disadvantaged communities is severely deplorable mainly due to four reasons; firstly, prevailing of poverty along with lacking of nutrition escalates the health hazards and vulnerability. Secondly, environmental catastrophe such as existing and prevailing of arsenic with tube-well water, pollution, unhygienic sanitation, changes of climate, increasing water salinity etc. are the main causes to accelerate the water borne diseases and other health hazards. Thirdly, the health services, processes and medicines/ materials (family planning) support are not available, favorable and easy accessible especially for the women and children. Fourthly, health awareness level regarding preventive diseases as well as imminent diseases of HIV/AIDS is still very low in the communities. But male children are occupationally used in big mechanized fishing boats as a cook and they are sexually abused by the adults and consequently they may be infected by HIV and other venereal diseases.

Considering the above context and justification, the Action will be mobilization of Community Based Organizations (CBOs)through human rights advocacy and social campaign with the instrumental means of HR training, video advocacy, education and cultural program, coastal regional dialogue seminar among the rights holders, defenders, duty bearers and local member of parliament, sound bite message development and circulation with print and electronic medial, internet e-mail campaign and sign collection</br><br>

Palidoyer pour la santé des enfants handicapés objet du commerce mendant et les malades mentaux

En organisant une caravane avec des cyclistes, accompagnée par des spots publicitaires en rapport avec la journée et certaines maladies comme la malaria, les malades mentaux, nous allons mobiliser des jeunes pour qu'ils lancent un message clair aux autorités politiques pour que la question de la santé et de la dignité des enfants handicapés objets de la mendicité commerçante soit pris en compte dans les politiques et stratégies, sans oublier les malades mentaux qui n'ont pas accès aux soins de santé. Les enfants handicapés qui font l'objet de la location devraient être retirés de la rue et placés dans des centres de rééducation.

Celebració del Dia d’Acció Global per al dret a la salut a Girona

Des de la Càtedra de Promoció de la Salut de la Universitat de Girona es va organitzar, el dia 25 d’octubre, en el marc del Dia d’Acció Global per al Dret a la Salut es va celebrar a Girona, un acte de sensibilització per al dret de la salut. L’acte, amb la participació d’estudiants de la Facultat d’Infermeria de la UdG, el grup de música amateur les Xuic , la fotògrafa Mònica Sala i el dibuixant Jaume Rondós, va consistir en la recollida de desitjos i propostes en pro del dret a la salut per part de les persones que accedien a col•laborar.
L’article 25 dels Drets Humans declara que “ tota persona té dret a un nivell de vida que asseguri, per a ell i la seva família, la salut i el benestar, especialment quant a alimentació, vestir, habitatge, assistència mèdica i als serveis socials necessaris; també té dret a la seguretat en cas d’atur, malaltia, incapacitat, viduïtat, vellesa o altra manca de mitjans de subsistència independent de la seva voluntat”. “La maternitat i la infantesa tenen dret a una cura i a una assistència especials. Tots els infants, nascuts d’un matrimoni o fora d’un matrimoni, gaudeixen d’igual protecció social”.
