2 | We use a free online textbook. Students have option to buy copy of book for 30.00, but not required as the online book can be downloaded. This online book is our adopted book for the class. Within the book one can find each chapter set in a city using realia. There are a group of students, both German and American who encounter day to day events. Students experience what these students experience and learn how to cope. It comes with access to grammar, cultural, and auxiliary information. We use online videos in class and these same videos can be accessed outside of class too. We developed a business language class were we are using contacts with overseas businesses to promote study and work/study abroad. Students are able to network directly with universities and businesses. Students can gathering information for living, working, entertaining. Development of a club open to all students, whether taking a German class or not, as well as community members who would like to participate in events. Our program also has access to OER from the Goethe Institute and the German Embassy. Both organizations have a large library of online books, movies (old and new) and other information useful to our students. Our students are also able to access these sights even after they have left SBCC. |
