Dear WCS Parents and Families,
|WCS is thankful for a dedicated staff and supportive community. In response to the Covid-19 requirement for remote learning a rethinking of traditional school was required to ensure the students in WCS can be accommodated. Welcome to the WCS Remote Learning and Operations Plan for educational and operational success.|

|EXPECTATIONS||Expectations for Staff and Parents||Teachers make contact with students 2 or 3 times a week minimum. Materials that are available online must have content with a similar objective as a packet if students need offline resources.|
|Parent without access must packets for students in grades K-13.|
Parents with any questions, please call CSS at 252-793-5171 for any concerns. We will route you to the appropriate person for next steps.
|Adminsitration and CSS are on call for assistance.|
|Attendance for Students||Attendance will not be taken March 27th to May 15th in PowerSchool. However, it is expected that teachers are working with students in order to determine pass or fail for end of the year. Teachers will be tracking the students they work with each day. Exceptions will be made for extreme circumstances with documentation.|
Spring Break is April 10-17th. There will be no instruction or operations this week.
|Grades||Grades will be not be applied after March 15th, however assignments will be collected and noted for mastery and non mastery by the standard taught for teachers to keep track of how students are progressing. Online high school courses will be graded according to the university or college standards.|

|INSTRUCTION||Hours of Instruction Offered||40 minutes: 20 ELA, 20 Math, Please offer "playtime" to your child for 30 min||2 hours: English Language Arts 1 HR, Math 1HR (Science and Social Studies will be integrated into this instruction)||4 hours: English Language Arts 1 HR, Math 1HR, Science 1 HR, and Social Studies/History 1 HR||4 hours: English Language Arts 1 HR, Math 1HR, Science 1 HR, and Social Studies/History 1 HR|

|Read Each Day||Have someone read to you for 20 minutes a day||Read to or with someone 20 minutes a day.||Read for 30 minutes a day.|
|Exceptional Children Services||EC teachers will be contacting students to schedule individual or group sessions 2 or 3 times per week|
|Required Reading Journal||A weekly reading journal (book, online materials, etc) is required for all students. Students must be reading each night and journal about what they read that day. See hours of instruction for more information.|
|Enrichment||Encore teachers will promote 20 minutes of instruction for each student or groups of students every 4 weeks at a minimum. Materials will also be availble via packets and online.|
|Student Support Services||Counselors will be contacting students for individual or group sessions and to delivers lessons. If a parent would like to request a contact please call the central office. Social Workers and Nurses will be used to help student connect with the school.|
|OPERATIONS||How are we distributing/collecting materials from those without access?||All PK will have packets for pick up on site on every other Monday (3/30, 4/6, 4/20, 5/4) they will not have online instruction. Instructional packets will be offered for any students without Internet access. They will be individualized and available for pick up upon parent request. Pre-K -2: Monday, 3-5 Tuesday, 6-8 Wednesday, 9-13 Thursday. Materials will be collected when meals are picked up at school. We will have a container for these items. Please contact the central office you have no way to get information back to the school.|
|Content - Standards based||Week of March 16 to 27 should be review of previous materials.|
|Weeks of March 30 to May 15th try to align with the current pacing guide focusing on essential standards.|
|Lesson Plans||Submitted to principals in 2 week structures or a 9 week plan: Mar 29-April 8, Spring Break April 10-17, April 20-May 1, May 4-15, May 18th- potential return to school|
|EC support by category||EC teachers will be in contact with students 2 to 3 days per week to deliver services.|
|Assistance Needed||Please contact the central office between 10 am to 2 pm Monday to Friday.|
|Meal Delivery||At this time food is created for pick up at CES, WCMS, and WCHS. Please pull up and come up one person at a time to get a breakfast and lunch.|
Q1 The bus has bot stopped by my home. Who do I need to call?
A1 We wil no longer run buses after 3.30.2020
Q2 I did not fill out a form to share information on student internet access and meal delivery. How do I do this?
A2 The form can be retrieved on the link below. If you need one delivered to your home, please contact your central site.
Q3 How can I get a chromebook for my child?
A3 Please contact the central office 252-793-5171 or come by for pick up between 10 am and 2 pm.
Q4 Will attendance be taken during this time?

|Do you need help finding food for your child? Text FOODNC to 877-877. You will be asked to enter your address. You will receive a text back with the location of the closest meal sites and serving times. You can also call 2-1-1 to speak with an operator 24/7 who can help locate meal sites and other resources.|
