Gravel, dirt & sand are deathtraps for people requiring Walkers or wheelchairs, the device that is supposed to help you walk becomes a device you now have to figure out how to carry through Sand and Gravel because all the school campuses are designed for able-bodied people over disabled parents and students. Also it is not fair that able-bodied students have access to buses the very first day of school, and students with 504 or IEP medical needs have to wait 6 weeks before buses are assigned to pick them up and drop them off at their front door and it makes it really hard for disabled parents with disabled students to figure out how to get them to school. It's very frustrating because you guys prioritize able-bodied people and able-bodied students over special needs people constantly, everybody does. We are all four of the acceptance of transgendered people, we have transgendered people in our lives and they mean the world to us, it would just be nice if disabled people would get the same acceptance and knowledge and for people to make things easier for us to be a part of the community also. He was forced out of mainstream Middle School into Rio Rancho cyber Academy because of his physical disabilities. I am terrified they are going to try and do the same thing to my youngest son who also has the same bone disease. My oldest son suffered because he did not get taught the way he needed to be taught, he had boring monotone people sitting in front of him on a computer screen who wanted to be anywhere else than talking at a camera and you could tell they hated what they were doing. My oldest child hates online school and missed out on important social education and opportunities because the teachers at the mainstream Middle School kept losing my child's work when he would be out for 6 to 8 weeks for a surgery and he would be forced to redo the homework over and over. Now we are in a more digital age, but not to where we were when everything could be accessed virtually for students with medical needs. I also believe that although parents should have a say in education some have not attended higher education and do not have the educational skills that would be beneficial in making good decisions for education in general. I understand that sometimes it is a leap of faith for some parents to trust the educational system and more information and dialogue could be helpful for that particular population. There was nobody there for my kids. As for Transgender. I believe that it is the parents sole responsibility to address that topic. To have a teacher talk to a kid about their sex without a parents knowledge is worse than allowing teachers to talk to kids about Jesus Christ and converting them to Christianity without the parents knowledge. They will not allow that either. I have 2 boys and they were not interested in talking about sex until they were teenagers. So nobody should be allowed to approach a child without the parents approval. I believe that they should open up the statue of limitations to 25 years and allow these transgender individuals to sue the people directly responsible for having pushing this agenda and ruining their lives. They should be allowed to sue them personally so that they cannot just declare bankruptcy and walk away. New Mexico test scores are consistently ranked in the bottom 5 for the country. We need to start giving the kids an opportunity for success rather than a feeling of victom hood. Schools need to concentrate on math, reading, writing, science and real history.
