2 | 9/21/2023 15:28:27 | “Comparing AI and Faculty Written Feedback | We are conducting a research study that seeks to compare written feedback delivered to students by a natural language processor (i.e. artificial intelligence, or AI) and faculty members. We know that high quality feedback is invaluable in helping trainees grow and their potential. To answer our research question, we would like to compare feedback provided on medical students’ Experiential Learning Research Project proposals (submitted in M1) between AI and faculty. Feedback from both sources will be provided to participating students, and students will be asked to rate the usefulness of each one (without being told the source). If you are interested in participating, we will ask to collect your research proposals from Elentra, and will contact you with the written feedback and follow-up survey. No identifying information will be delivered to faculty members providing feedback, nor to the AI system. Your participation in this study is voluntary. Your decision to participate will not impact your academic standing nor your evaluation in the research course. The formal grading of your research proposals will still by done by the Course Chair and not by faculty providing feedback for this project. By completing this survey and agreeing to the online consent form, you are providing consent to use your research proposal, and to contact you with the feedback and follow-up survey. Please access the consent form and online survey at this link: https://uwo.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_1XNKgk8Ns6aNxEW For any questions about the study, please contact the Principal Investigator Dr. Amrit Kirpalani: amrit.kirpalani@lhsc.on.ca | 5 minutes | Online | Both | https://uwo.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_1XNKgk8Ns6aNxEW | No | amrit.kirpalani@lhsc.on.ca | 10/20/2023 | |

11 | 5/9/2024 9:56:59 | The Use and Perceptions of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Undergraduate and Postgraduate Medical Education: A Multicentre Study | In recent years, generative AI in the form of chatbots and image generation tools have exploded in popularity and permeated numerous facets of modern society. Current use of generative AI in undergraduate medical education in Ontario has yet to be quantified. The aim of the study is to identify and analyze how generative AI is currently impacting medical education, and to explore the perceptions of future healthcare practitioners. A web-based questionnaire will be created and disseminated to undergraduate medical students across Ontario. The questionnaire will explore the use of generative AI, and attitudes and predictions surrounding its use as a tool for education, communication, and clinical workflow. The responses of the survey will be analyzed with descriptive and inferential statistics to characterize the role of generative AI in medical training. | <5 minutes | Online | No | Cecilia Tran, cetran@ohri.ca | 6/7/2024 | Participation is voluntary.
