| No. 2 St. Laurence | 12 | Morton | 5 | Final |
| By: Gavin Smith Area Scout In a non-conference matchup between No. 2 St. Laurence and Morton, the Vikings came out victors after a big fourth inning, winning the game 12-5. The Vikings started things off in the first inning on a walk from Jesse Contreras (2023; Heartland) who eventually scored on an RBI groundout from Luke Stulga (2023; Illinois State). The Potters followed this up with a leadoff walk from Brandon Sieben (2025), who scored on an RBI groundout from Bayler Wilkinson (2024). St. Laurence added three more runs in the third inning where they recorded three hits. Stulga delivered a two-RBI double where he hit a curveball to the leftfield gap. The Vikings had an offensive onslaught in the fourth inning where they recorded hits from Ryan Seldon (2024), Jameson Martin (2024; Minnesota), and Matthew Carrano (2024), the latter delivered two RBIs. The Vikings walked four times and were hit by two pitches in the inning and scored eight runs to give them the 12-1 one lead. Morton tallied three more of their own in the bottom half of the fourth inning. Nolan Reiman (2024) got things started with a single, eventually scoring on an RBI single from AJ Davis (2024). Braylan Smith (2023; Lincoln Land) delivered a two-run home run to cut the Vikings lead to eight. They tallied one more run in the bottom half of the fifth on an RBI single from Reiman, but weren’t able to score anymore runs. 39 | No. 20 Lincoln-Way East | 8 | No. 22 Lemont | 5 | Final |
| By: Drew Locascio Illinois Scouting Director Lincoln-Way East put up five runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back, holding onto an 8-5 non-conference win. The Griffins were able to put up the early crooked number without getting a hit in the frame. Lemont would chip away and close the LWE lead to 6-4 before senior, SS Tyler Bell (Pittsburgh commit), launched a two-run home run to deep center field which provided a 8-4 cushion and some much needed insurance runs at the time. Lemont fought back throughout the game putting up two runs in the bottom of the first on RBI doubles by seniors Carter Storti and Brandon Johnson. They put up two more in the bottom of the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Storti and a Balk that forced in a run. Johnson would double and score to lead off the bottom of the sixth inning but that would be it for the Lemont offense as sophomore LHP Aaron Scott locked down the win throwing the final three innings. Scott pounded the zone with a lively fastball that at 83-84 mph, T85 and over three innings of work, scattered two hits, one run, struck out three and did not walk a batter. Lemont went to freshman LHP Cannon Madej out of the bullpen and he kept them in the game with an impressive performance. Madej went 5.2 innings pitched, scattering four hits, two earned runs, walked two and struck out 10. Madej worked with a fastball in the upper-70s that flashed run and sink and routinely missed bats and barrels down in the zone. He paired it with a sweeping breaking ball that showed feel and the ability to land for strikes throughout. The young freshman arm was unfazed by the varsity atmosphere and is highly-competitive on the mound. RHP Daniel Giusto got the start and win on the mound for LWE. The senior Loras commit went four innings, scattering five hits, four runs, walked four and struck out two. He worked mainly at 82-84 mph throughout and went to a sharp curveball with depth at 70-71 mph. Giusto has high-spin rates across the board and seemingly plenty more velocity to tap into down the road. NOTABLE PERFORMERS: + Matt Hudik (Lincoln-Way East): 2-for-4, R + Tyler Bell (Lincoln-Way East): 2-for-2, HR, 2 RBI, 2 R, 2 BB + Carter Storti (Lemont): 1-for-3, 2 RBI, 2B, + Brandon Johnson (Lemont): 3-for-3, 2 2Bs, RBI, R, + Noah Tomaras (Lemont): 1-for-2, 2B, BB
| No. 21 Sandburg | 6 | Joliet West | 4 | Final |
| By: Kevin Cronin Tech Analysis, Area Scout No. 21 Sandburg jumped out to an early 6-0 lead before holding off a late surge by Joliet West to win 6-4. The Eagles led the game off with a bang from their uncommitted senior in Jason Sullivan, as he led the game off with a solo shot to right field and took an early 1-0 lead after one. In the third inning, Sandburg went on to add three more runs. Sullivan, Ethan Highfill (2024), and Colin Kissane (2023, Loras College) all reached base with singles setting up Victor Zaragoza (2023, St. Xavier University) with a bases loaded opportunity. Zaragoza singled home Sullivan and Highfill followed to score on a throwing error. Kissane would score before the inning ended on a pick off attempt that was overthrown. Sandburg's final two runs came off the bat of Highfill with a towering two run home run in the fourth inning to make it 6-0. Joliet West’s big inning came in the bottom of the fourth inning when they cut the lead down in half. Matt Marchiniak and Parker Schwarting lead off with back to back singles. Cael Karczewski singled home Marchiniak for the teams first run. Schwarting scored on the next batter on an error by the shortstop and James Love (2023, Eastern Illinois) hit a sacrifice fly to score Karczewski to make the score 6-3 after four innings. Joliet West would add one run in the seventh but left the bases loaded as Grant Tenuta (2023, University of Chicago) closed out the game with a two inning save. Notable Performance: Sandburg Jason Sullivan: 3-4, HR, RBI I 4ip, 3er, 7h, 5k Grant Tenuta: 1.2ip, 4h, 1er, 3k Ethan Highfill: 2-4, HR, 2 RBI Victor Zaragoza: 2-4, RBI Nick Zimmerman: 2-4 Joliet West Cael Karczewski: 2-4, 2 RBI Matt Marchiniak: 2-4, 2B Zack Tarrant: 2-4 John Spoto: 2-4
| Belleville East | 3 | Columbia | 4 | Final |
| By: Diego Solares Area Scout, Illinois & Missouri This non-conference Saturday matchup pit two of the area's top pitching prospects against each other. Ole Miss signee Zander Mueth (2023) toed the rubber for the visiting Lancers, while Dominic Voegele (2023), who's headed to Kansas, opposed. It was a tight knit contest for both squads, tied 1-1 through four innings before a thunder delay stopped play for roughly 45 minutes, knocking both starting pitchers out of the game. Ean DiPasquale (2023) doubled into the right-center gap to plate a run for the Lancers. Reed Drabant (2023) responded moments after for Columbia, slapping a single through the infield for an RBI. Later in the game, Drabant picked up another integral hit to the Eagles' rally, and the Vincennes' signee is slashing .600/.692/.933 in 39 plate appearances this spring. DiPasquale delivered again once play resumed, launching a no-doubt two-run home run over the right-center field fence, putting Belleville East ahead 3-1 in the fifth. Columbia once again answered, pushing a run across in their half of the frame. Things held at bay until the game's final frame, where it was the Eagles who came to life again. They tied things up on a wild pitch, loading the bases shortly afterwards with two outs in the contest. Then, a sharp ground ball took a bad hop and carmed into the outfield grass, plating the winning run and improving Columbia's season record to 11-1 on the year. Mueth looked every bit the part of a high-follow MLB Draft prospect in this look, toeing the slab for three strong innings, punching out four. The 6-foot-5, 190-pound senior ran his fastball up to 98 mph, sitting anywhere from 94-97 mph, while throwing a 78-81 mph slider with more consistency than we'd previously seen this spring. Voegele was equally as impressive, fanning six over four innings of work, and surrendering just an earned run. He continued to showcase his sharp, swing-and-miss breaking ball, while also sitting in the low-90s throughout, reaching back for 94 mph a handful of times. So far, in 24 innings this spring, Voegele has allowed three earned runs and he's struck out 38. Notable Performances: Dominic Voegele (Columbia): 4 IP, 4 H, ER, 6 K, 2 H, 2B Zander Mueth (Belleville East): 3 IP, 4 H, ER, 4 K Joe Mendiola (Belleville East): 3-for-4, 2B, RS Ean DiPasquale (Belleville East): 2-for-3, HR, 2B, 3 RBI
