| No. 12 Downers Grove North | 2 | York | 12 | Final |
| By: Peter Hamot Area Scout, Staff Writer No. 12 Downers Grove North and York squared off in a West Suburban-Silver matchup and saw the Dukes come out on top by the score of 12-2 in six innings. York exploded for five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to put the game out of reach for good. Walks to Nico Ruggieri (2024), Eli Maurer (2023) and Ryan turner (2023) loaded the bases. Chris Danko (2024) then stepped in and was hit by a pitch, pushing across one run to make it 5-0 at the time. Josh Fleming (2025) then stepped in and delivered the swing of the game, a grand-slam over the center field wall to make it 9-1 at the time. The Dukes scored early and often, pushing across two runs in both the first and second innings. Ashland commit Jack Rozmus (2023) started the scoring for the Dukes with a two-run opposite field blast in the bottom of the first inning to make it 2-0 at the time. The following inning, the aforementioned Maurer and Turner both recorded RBI singles to extend the Dukes’ lead to 4-0 at the time. York was able to end the game early by pushing across three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning thanks to a two RBI double from Jack Bruan (2023) and RBI single from Paul Reedy (2024). The Trojans added a run in the top of the fourth inning, thanks to a home run off the bat of Troy commit Jimmy Janicki (2024), cutting the lead to 4-1 at the time. North would add another run on a defensive miscue in the top of the fifth to make it 9-2 for the time being. Spring Hill commit Tommy Van Daff (2023) was excellent on the mound for the Dukes, firing five strong innings with six hits, four strikeouts and only one walk - limiting the extremely potent Trojans lineup to only one earned run. The southpaw worked his fastball up to 81 mph early on, sitting mostly 79-80 mph in the cold weather with heavy sink through the zone, missing barrels consistently. He also flashed a slurvy breaking ball and changeup to keep the hitters off his fastball and mix up the timing. Uncommitted senior Lucas Bormann was extremely impressive in his one inning stint, not allowing a hit or run while striking out two and walking one. He worked his fastball in the 84-86 mph range with tilt and arm-side run, attacking the zone and playing with noticeable life out of the hand. He went to two different breaking balls; an 11/5 curveball at 71-72 mph and a 10/4 slider at 74 mph, both playing with depth and sharp/late bite. Notable Performances: Josh Fleming (York): 2-for-4, HR, 4 RBI, R Jack Braun (York): 2-for-3, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R, BB Jack Rozmus (York): 1-for-4, HR, 2 RBI, R Ryan Turner (York): 2-for-3, RBI, 2 R, BB Tommy Van Daff (York): 5 IP, 1 ER, 6 H, 4 K, BB Jimmy Janicki (Downers Grove North): 1-for-3, HR, RBI, R George Wolkow (Downers Grove North): 2-for-3

| By: Kevin Cronin Tech Analysis, Area Scout No. 17 DePaul College Prep came back being down 2-0 after the first inning to defeat Chicago Mt. Carmel 7-5. The game was tied 4-4 in the sixth inning when AJ Garcia (2023, Michigan commit) got the inning started with a hit by pitch. Two batters later Oliver Vigerust (2023) kept the inning going with a one out single. Next batter and starting pitcher Kevin O’Connor gave his team a 7-4 lead with a three run home run to deep center field. No. 17 DePaul College Prep grabbed their first lead of the game in the fourth inning. Trailing 3-2, Robert Rivera got the inning started with a bunt attempt that was thrown away and allowed Rivera to get to second. Sophomore Beni Espinosa tied with a single to left field after getting down 0-2 in the count. Couple batters later, Vigerust was robbed of a single from a diving third baseman but still scored a run on a bases loaded fielder’s choice to make it 4-3. On the mound, O’Connor picked up the win with six innings pitched and allowed two earned runs on eight hits and struck out six. The southpaw used his fastball early to get ahead of the Carmel hitter, sitting 78-81 mph. The main off-speed pitch was a curveball with slurve-like movement due the arm angle and sat 68-70 mph. 37 | No. 18 Mundelein | 15 | McHenry | 9 | Final |
| By: Andy Sroka Illinois & Wisconsin Asst. Director Mundelein moved to 5-2 on the season after an outpouring of offense in McHenry on Thursday evening, as the Mustangs combined for 19 hits and earned six walks which helped them score runs in all but one of their seven half-innings at the plate. Mundelein snagged an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first frame on a two-out double off the bat of senior catcher Daniel Connelly (UW-Oshkosh commit), with an assist from the sun. Senior starter Bennett Musser (Valparaiso) took the mound for Mundy, and while he didn't quite have his best stuff, he was still effective while sitting 85-87 mph across three innings, scattering one run on three hits, one walk. Meanwhile, the Mustangs' bats continued to add on scoring another five runs while Musser was on the mound, turning over a 9-1 lead to star senior Ryan Geraghty (Wichita State), who hadn't pitched since last week Thursday. He looked poised to mow down McHenry hitters, flashing some of his best stuff right away, recording four swings and misses in the first two at-bats with a heavy 90-92 mph that complements a sharp, late-breaking slider that he demonstrated feel and confidence in. A dropped third strike preceded a walk and an error, which teed up McHenry's most productive hitter, senior backstop Cooper Cohn (Illinois-Springfield), for a big moment in which he launched a no-doubt home run over the left-center fence on an inner half fastball to revive McHenry's bench. Geraghty notched back-to-back strike outs on seven pitches from there to end the frame, but the Warriors had nudged the door back open a bit. In the fifth, senior Michael Farina's (Southeastern CC, IA) third hit of the day brought home Mundelein's 10th run, and another run-scoring hit by Chris Callas (UW-Oshkosh) helped score an 11th, though McHenry made Geraghty work again in the bottom half. Sophomore shortstop Kyle Maness led the half-inning off with a base hit to right-center, and he eventually scored after on a ball in the dirt. Geraghty looked a little more comfortable in the sixth, still working in the 88-90 mph range, preventing the Warriors from scoring in a third straight frame while recording another two punch-outs to finalize his line with six total Ks in three innings, allowing three earned runs on three hits, two walks, and a hit by pitch. Mundy sprung for four more runs in the top of the seventh to further separate themselves from McHenry, recording four doubles off the bats of seniors Callas, Christian Seminaro, Derek Costillo, and Michael Carlson; that was Seminaro's second extra-base hit of the day as well, after a connecting for an RBI triple to deep center earlier in the game. McHenry still managed to battle down nine with their final three outs, scoring three runs before ultimately falling short by a final of 15-6. Notable Performances: Michael Farina (Mundelein): 3-for-4; BB, 2 RBI, 3 R Chris Callas (Mundelein): 3-for-4; 2B, 2 RBI Christian Seminaro (Mundelein): 2-for-4; 2B, 3B, BB, 2 RBI Caden Earing (Mundelein): 2-for-4; 2B Derek Costilla (Mundelein): 3-for-4; 2B, BB, 2 RBI Cooper Cohn (McHenry): 3-for-5; HR, 3 RBI

Mannino entered in relief and was stellar, fanning six over 3 2/3 innings of work, and failing to allow an earned run in the process.
