35 | No. 17 O'Fallon | 1 | Collinsville | 0 | Final |
36 | By: Diego Solares Area Scout, Illinois & Missouri In an old fashioned pitcher's duel between these Southwestern Conference foes, it was the ranked Panthers that came out on top, stranding the tying run on third base in the bottom of the seventh inning. O'Fallon scored the only run of the game in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Will Millard (2023), as each team's arms threw up zeros throughout the remainder of the game. Sophomore Connor Blue (2025) looked like his vintage self in this outing, hurling six shutout innings, while punching out seven and scattering three hits. Blue ran his fastball up to 87 early, holding 84-86 mph with late life at times throughout from a fast, athletic arm. He confidently spun a 70-73 mph curveball at his convenience, landing it for strikes while also grabbing swings-and-misses to the glove side with it. Jack Velino (2024) allowed a leadoff runner in the seventh, but sent down the next three batters in order notch the save for O'Fallon. Flossmoor extended their lead to 9-2 in the top of the third inning, as Head delivered a two RBI single right back up the middle of the field. Despite the loss, junior Kristopher Alcorn (2024) really looked the part for the Kahoks. The athletic, upside southpaw fanned nine over six innings, holding the Panthers to just three hits, and the only run of the game wasn't earned. His fastball too reached the 87 mph mark, sitting at 84-86 mph with plenty more to come, and he spun a sweeping breaking ball at 70-72 mph for strikes, while also spotting it below the zone for whiffs. Junior Mason Hartmann (2024) tossed a clean seventh inning out of the 'pen, showing feel for all three of his pitches. Haidyn McGill doubled and dropped a bunt single out of the leadoff spot for O'Fallon. Ethan Bagwell doubled and totaled two hits on three barrels to lead the Collinsville offense. With the win, O'Fallon improves to 21-4 on the year.
