| No. 8 Providence Catholic | 14 | Homewood-Flossmoor | 2 | Final |
| By Drew Locascio Illinois Scouting Director A massive 11-run top of the fourth inning by Providence Catholic, helped propel them to a 14-2 win over Homewood-Flossmoor on Saturday. Providence was leading 3-1 heading into the top of the fourth when they proceeded to break the game open for good. A number of different hitters produced in the big inning but two sophomores, Nathan O’Donnell and Eddie Olszta, had arguably the two biggest hits. O’Donnell, who started and threw well on the mound, helped himself with a bases loaded, two-run double to right field. A few batters later, after a pitching chance, 3B Olszta, put the finishing touches on the inning with a three-run home run that was a backspin line-drive over the left-center field wall. Senior Lucas Winters also had a two-run double down the left-field line in the frame. Another sophomore, Enzo Infelise (Oklahoma commit), stood out at the start of the game for Providence Catholic. Infelise banged an RBI single off the center field wall in the top of the first inning to get the Celtics on the board. He proceeded to add another RBI single in the top of the second. In between his RBI’s he also threw out a runner attempting to steal second base in the bottom of the first inning, showing off a plus arm. Yet another sophomore who stood out throughout the day was SS Nolan Galla who led the game off for the Celtics with a double (4.48 on the turn) and finished 2-for-2 with two walks, three runs scored and a stolen base. O’Donnell got the win on the mound going four innings (71% strikes), three hits, one earned run, four strikeouts and one walk. Homewood-Flossmoor made it a game early on when senior Preston Lund (Christopher Newport) led off the bottom of the second inning with a no-doubt solo home run to left-field to cut the lead to 2-1 at the time. CF Dillon Head (2023; Clemson), the No. 1 prospect in the state, was back in the lineup for the Vikings and had his fair share of eyes on him throughout the contest. Despite going 0-for-3 Head was on the barrel and turning in a couple of above-average run times throughout. Notable Performances: + SS Nolan Galla (Providence Catholic) : 2-for-2, 2B, 3 R, 2 BB, SB + C Enzo Infelise (Providence Catholic): 2-for-4, 2 RBI + RHP Nathan O’Donnell (Providence Catholic): 2-for-4, 2B, 3 RBI + LF Jacob Garcia (Providence Catholic): 2-for-3, 2B, 2 R, 2 RBI, BB + RF Lucas Winter (Providence Catholic): 1-for-2, 2B, 2 RBI, R + 3B Eddie Olszta (Providence Catholic): 2-for-3, HR, 3 RBI, 2 R + LHP AJ Vinci (Providence Catholic): 1 IP, H, R, 2 K, BB + C Preston Lund (Homewood-Flossmoor): 1-for-2, HR, R, RBI + Alijah Rainey (Homewood-Flossmoor): 1-for-1
| Effingham | 2 | No. 13 Mahomet-Seymour | 0
| By: Diego Solares Area Scout, Illinois & Missouri In what may go down as the best pitching matchup we'll see all year, Effingham managed to pull off an upset over Apollo Conference foe Mahomet. The Hearts were led by a masterful outing on the mound from ace Josh McDevitt (2023), who's performance in front of 20+ professional scouts may have created some serious buzz around the Missouri signee. McDevitt dominated, fanning 13 batters over 5 2/3 hitless innings, doing whatever he wanted throughout his time on the mound. His fastball reached as high as 96 mph in the first inning, sitting anywhere from 91-95 mph throughout, while spinning a sharp 80-82 mph curveball with power bite. Opposing McDevitt was another star, as Blake Wolters (2023) drew the start for the Bulldogs. The Arizona signee, and one of the highest rising MLB Draft prospects in the entire country, showed his usual explosive stuff, sitting 97-99 mph early on, settling at 93-96 mph as he went on. Wolters grabbed a 96 mph in his third, fourth, and fifth innings of work. He confidently spun an 82-85 mph breaking ball, manipulating a more vertical axis to it for strikes while creating more lateral, horizontal spin for whiffs. Wolters departed with just an earned run after 4 2/3 innings, striking out 11. Jack Harper (2023) relieved McDevitt, concluding the no-hitter and an Effingham win with 1 1/3 innings of work. He was also the leader in the clubhouse on offense for the Hearts, finishing with two hits, including an RBI single to left field. Notable Performances: Josh McDevitt (Effingham): 5 2/3 IP, 0 H, 13 K Blake Wolters (Mahomet-Seymour): 4 2/3 IP, 2 H, ER, 2 BB, 11 K Jack Harper (Effingham): 2-for-3, RBI, 1 1/3 IP, 2 K
| Niles Notre Dame | 5 | Marist | 2 | Final |
| By: Kevin Cronin Tech Analysis, Area Scout After giving up two runs in the first inning, that's all Niles Notre Dame would allow as they came back and defeated Marist 5-2. In the fifth inning, Notre Dame would score three runners to their first lead of the game up. Uncommitted junior Nick Baffa got the inning started with a single to left field. A sacrifice bunt and a walk to sophomore Dominic Holton would put two runners on for leadoff hitter Julian Cabanin (2024). With two strikes and two outs, Cabanin lined a single past the first baseman to score both Baffa and Holton. Cabanin would later come around to score in on an error by the second baseman to make the score 3-2. The next two following innings, The Dons would go on to add to their lead. Sophomore Jacob Creeth kept the sixth inning alive with a two out single and would advance to second on a pass ball. Holton would drive home Creeth on a single pass the first baseman. In the seventh, Cabanin led the inning off with a single to center field. Two batters later and with two outs, senior Michael Khouri scored Cabanin on a sharply hit single to left field. Senior Jackson Bruno tossed a gem of a game for Niles Notre Dame. Bruno hurled a complete game with 11 strikeouts. The crafty right-hander surrendered just two hits and no walks while allowing just the two earned runs.
