25 | No. 14 Lyons | 6 | No. 11 Downers Grove North | 7 | Final |
26 | By: Peter Hamot Area Scout, Staff Writer No. 11 Downers Grove North squared off with No. 14 Lyons Township in a West Suburban-Silver matchup and saw the Trojans emerge victorious by the score of 7-6 in walk-off fashion. With the bases loaded an no outs, Wisconsin-Whitewater commit Joe Chiarelli (2023) stepped up to the dish and delivered a deep drive over the center fielder's head, plating pinch runner Oliver Thulin (running for Jimmy Janicki (2024) who singled to lead off the frame) and giving the Trojans the 7-6 victory. Lyons fought back from a two-run deficit to tie the game in the top of the seventh inning. A leadoff single from Michael Mango (2023) and double from Kent State commit Frederick Ragsdale III (2023) would place runners on second and third with no one out. An error would go on to plate Mango, and a fielder's choice off the bat of Troy Stukenbrg (2023) would notch the game at six runs apiece. North entered the bottom of the fourth inning chasing two runs. West Virginia commit Tony Konopiots (2023) led off the frame with a ringing double down the left field line, while a bunt single from the aforementioned Chiarelli and walk to sophomore Brady Schallmoser would load the bases with no outs. Two errors on the infield and a single from sophomore Russel Oros would push across five runs for the Trojans and give them a 6-3 advantage at the time. Lyons grabbed an early lead in the top of the first inning thanks to a two-run home run off the bat of senior Sam Viniard, plating himself and Jack Falls (2023), who reached base via a single to make it 2-0 at the time. The Lions would add on to their lead in the top of the third inning thanks to an RBI single from Falls, making it 3-0 at the time. The Trojans would plate their first run of the game in the bottom of the third inning with an RBI single off the bat of Troy commit Jimmy Janicki (2024), plating Michigan State commit Jude Warwick (2024) who walked earlier in the frame and bringing the score to 3-1 at the time. Senior Jack Falls paced the offense all game long for Lyons, highlighted by his RBI double in the top of the fifth inning to plate Stukenberg, who doubled earlier in the frame, making it 6-4 at the time. Sophomore right-hander Tucker King was extremely impressive for the Lions over his five innings of work, punching out nine batters to only two walks, scattering four hits and three earned runs. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound fireballer boasted a fastball that sat 88-89 mph early on, topping out at 90 mph with heavy sinking action. He consistently went to a sharp, sweeping slider at 81-83 mph to miss bats, showing mature feel to spin for strikes and to put hitters away. Notable Performances: Joe Chiarelli (Downers Grove North): 2-for-4, RBI, R, walk-off Jimmy Janicki (Downers Grove North): 2-for-3, RBI Tony Konopiots (Downers Grove North): 1-for-3, 2B, R Jack Falls (Lyons Township): 3-for-4, 2B, 3 RBI, R Sam Viniard (Lyons Township): 2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI, R Frederick Ragsdale III (Lyons Township): 2-for-4, 2B, 2 R Troy Stukenberg (Lyons Township): 1-for-4, 2B, R Tucker King (Lyons Township): 5 IP, 3 ER, 4 H, 9 K, 2 BB

29 | Belleville East | 5 | Freeburg | 3 | Final |
30 | By: Diego Solares Area Scout, Illinois & Missouri It was Belleville East who came out on top in this non-conference Monday matchup, rallying from an early deficit and starving off a late comeback effort from Freeburg to improve to 9-5 on the season. Freeburg pushed two runs across in the first two innings on a pair of infield hits and an error. That was all the Midgets would muster until the seventh, largely in part to yet another quality outing from senior Owen Kelly (2023) on the mound. Though he didn't have his best stuff, Kelly battled throughout, allowing one earned run over six innings of work. His fastball sat 85-87 mph, touching 88 mph early, and he spun a short wrinkle slider at 80-82 mph off it. Joe Mendiola (2023) had an explosive day for the Lancers, finishing 4-for-4 at the plate with two doubles, and two RBIs, all coming from the leadoff spot. Jalen Jones (2025) plated a pair in the bottom of the second on a single to left field, and Ean DiPasquale (2023) brought a run home in the bottom half of the fourth to add to the Lancer lead. Another noteworthy performance came from Tommy Kramkowski (2025) on the mound. The Lancers' sophomore struck out a pair of batters, touching 86 with his fastball, and sitting 83-85 mph. He spun two different breaking balls, both of them around the zone - a curveball at 68-69 mph, and a tight slider with swing-and-miss spin at 74-76 mph. Notable Performances: Owen Kelly (Belleville East): 6 IP, 5 H, ER, BB, K Joe Mendiola (Belleville East): 4-for-4, 2 RBI, 2 2B, RS Jalen Jones (Belleville East): 1-for-3, 2 RBI, RS
