11 | This course is for those who have successfully completed Algebra 1. It prepares the student for further math courses in Trigonometry and pre-calculus as well as work in math intensive science courses. Algebra 2 begins with a brief review of integers, operations with polynomials and factoring. It continues with the following topics: -Factoring binomials, trinomials and quadratics -Solving quadratic equations and rational equations -Graphing linear equations and finding the equation of a line -Solving systems of equations -Working with roots and powers to solve equations -Introduction to logarithms Applications and word problems will be integrated throughout the course. As with learning a language, practice and repetition will strengthen the student's ability with Algebra. Homework assignments are the vehicle for practice and repetition and must be faithfully, neatly, and carefully performed. The course will meet once a week on Tuesdays. A second hour of class will be offered on Thursday morning (possibly by Zoom) for: - students who desire help with the topic or homework - students with less than an 80% average MUST attend the second hour of class - students who wish to delve further into a topic God has created this beautiful and complex universe and has given us, made in his image, the ability to explore, enjoy and gain understanding of it. Mathematics is one path to opening some of the riches of his creation, enabling us to "taste and see that the Lord is good". | ||||||||
