21	Elem K-2 Piece by Piece: Constructing Successful Math Students	Helping young students achieve mastery in grade-level content can feel like putting together the pieces of a puzzle—much like assembling a Mr. Potato Head! In this session, we’ll use the iconic toy as a metaphor for scaffolding learning. Just as each piece of Mr. Potato Head contributes to a complete figure, each skill and concept builds toward mastery. This session will focus on leveraging language and grammar as a tool to support students in comprehending complex texts. 34	MS & HS: Number Sense Routines/Hands-on Equations	This session is an amazing 2 sessions in 1! The first hour, you will discover the transformative impact Number Sense Routines (aka Number Talks) can have on students' problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Participants will step into the role of students, experiencing firsthand how these routines allow the opportunity for students to feel safe and open to share and learn different strategies and perspectives. Valuable resources and strategies to effectively implement Number Sense Routines in in your classroom will be shared. (The first 20 to register will receive a free copy of the book Making Number Talks Matter by Cathy Humphreys and Ruth Parker.) In the 2nd hour, teachers will learn how to use Hands-On Equations to translate algebraic equations into a physical, hands-on experience. 55	Rolling out the Art	Why throw out your paper towel or toilet paper rolls when they can become ART? Recycle and have fun ROLLING out some new and different creations! This session will entail creating a collage/sculpture with paper towel rolls. The participants will cut and shape slices of discarded paper rolls, and have freedom to design mandalas, animals, random shapes, floral inspirations, etc. Several techniques will be shared with the group with time given to practice. The project will include focus on 2-D and 3-D examples that can be created with recycled paper towel/toilet paper rolls. The presenter will show different examples of student work to inspire participants into creating their own sample works of art to take back to their classrooms. LET"S ROLLLLLLLLLL..... 56	Authentic Support for Arts Educators Part 2 with Sarah Baumgardner	The arts can bring about a lot of emotions, both from those creating the art and those appreciating it. But how do we manage those feelings in a constructive and positive way? Join us as we look at the often challenging aspects of the creative field - those that come from working with people! From upset parents, to difficult subjects and themes, to children managing rejection over not being chosen for a role, there are a lot of factors to navigate and a considerable amount of diplomacy required. In this session we will dive deeper into having a positive classroom mindset, handling upset and angry people in a positive way, and keeping our own anxiety in check.
