34 | DIKSHA is a national level project undertaken by the NCERT in collaboration with the various state boards of education in India to create open access content for education in India, seeing as the pandemic sent he entire educational paradigm, for many years centered around a classroom, into a tizzy. French, as a foreign language for children, is one subject for which creating content requires immense innovation and perseverance as one must ensure that the material is age-appropriate, correctly licensed and labelled, and of course, relevant to their lived realities. Being drafted into DIKSHA teams for four out of the five classes for which French is offered a subject, I created original content in various forms such as audio, video, presentations, worksheets, as well as adapted existing content to suit the purpose at hand. The materials ranged from translation and comprehension of textual content, basic grammatical forms and sentence structures to vocabulary tools, games and activities promoting application of language in cultural context. This content was designed as per the lesson plans provided by the supervisors / curators based on the existing textbooks of French of the Goa Board. However, majority of the ideation, compilation and execution was at the discretion of the creators. I have created content, in full and in part, for more than eight units across the platform, some of which are still under review. |
