23 | The OERs I created and continue to create are intended primarily for Spanish labs at the university level. Through the Pathways OER Commons initiative through Boise State University, I have researched what it looks like for K-12 language instructors in the state of Idaho to implement these activities into their classrooms. Using the research, I am updating these activities to align with national standards, Idaho standards, and ACTFL standards. I work with a team to create the activities, and have been working to make these OERs more accessible to instructors outside of the university setting. We include the materials which all contain copy-right free images and graphics. These OERs are classroom ready materials, and other teachers can also remix the activities to fit their own classroom. All of the OERs are interpersonal speaking activities. In a language classroom, it is vital to provide students with ample time for interpersonal speaking, which is most often the most difficult of all the language learning modes. By providing activities for teachers to use, the time creating the interpersonal speaking activities is severely cut down, and the teachers will be able to spend more time practicing with their students and allowing for a more interactive classroom. |
