Pew researchers made a list of the 2,315 most popular sites and then analyzed 1.2 million tweets that included links to those sites over a six-week period. The study also found that 500 of the most active bots tweet 22% of the links to news sites. The researchers say they did NOT detect a notable political bias in the bots.||http://www.pewinternet.org/2018/04/09/bots-in-the-twittersphere/|

Last month, Walmart announced plans to expand its grocery delivery business for online orders to 800 stores by the end of 2018, and at the time said it would use Uber and Deliv, as well as other partners to provide transportation. Minimum purchases must be $30, not including a $9.95 delivery fee, to use the new Postmates feature.||https://www.cnbc.com/2018/04/10/walmart-taps-postmates-for-grocery-delivery-service.html|

WebAuthn replaces passwords with more secure login methods like biometrics and USB tokens, and already works with major services like Google and Facebook, where you can log in using a Yubikey token built to the FIDO standard. The standard is built on a zero-knowledge proof so there’s no single string of characters that guarantees access to an account, which means phishing attacks are harder to pull off.||https://www.theverge.com/2018/4/10/17215406/webauthn-support-chrome-firefox-edge-fido-password-free|

Instagram is also rolling out Focus, a new portrait mode which blurs the background while keeping someone’s face, or other foreground subject, sharp.||https://techcrunch.com/2018/04/09/instagram-nametags/|

|The idea of a cashless society is one often tossed around on the Internet but it in most places is still more theoretical than practical.|
Sweden is one of the countries that is close to having to actually decide if it should get rid of cash.
The BBC recently checked in on Sweden's movement towards becoming a cashless society.
- For instance, none of the High Street banks around Stockholm's Odenplan square handle cash any more. BANKS. Cash is only handled at 7 of 118 SEB branches.
- Since 2010, cash transactions in retail have dropped from around 40% to 15% according to the central bank.
- 85% of Swedish 16 to 74-year-olds banking online in 2017.
So why not just get rid of cash?
- Those who don't use internet or computers. (Hefty fees for in-branch transfers not done online)
- Security. Sometimes people don't trust using a card with unfamiliar merchants
- Fraud and data protection in general
- Risk of crisis or war
Sifo poll earlier this month suggested that seven out of 10 Swedes still want the option be able to pay with cash in future.

- Facebook. There seems to be a "piling on" effect going on with Facebook. And I see this with other things like other companies or movies or TV shows, etc. I'm not saying that Facebook doesn't deserve at least some of the criticisms it's getting but there does seem to be a "cool kids hate Facebook, so I'm going to hate Facebook" effect going on. But maybe that's more to do with the age we live in where you can only love or hate a thing, there's no middle ground anymore and if you dare try to be in the middle you get disowned by both sides. - David
