MicroLED is similar to OLED in that it doesn't need a backlight. It's similar to how video billboards are made but with smaller LEDs, so you can't see the pixels unless you're within a foot or so of the display. And Samsung says THE WALL is a consumer product and available for purchase sometime this year with more detail coming in the spring. It's somehow modular allowing you to start with just a few panels and add them as you need a bigger TV. No details were released on how that actually worked.Samsung also has two 8K proof-of-concept models, the Q9S which can upscale any video including standard def to look crisp in 8K.||https://www.theverge.com/circuitbreaker/2018/1/7/16861790/samsung-the-wall-microled-modular-tv-announced-ces-2018|

|sl||People talk a lot about how much better it is to cover CES from home rather than actually going there. And the people who go complain about the crowds. It seems like a topic for a journalism podcast. I just want to hear about the gadgets themselves. I don’t care as much about how much walking the journalist had to do to get to the gadgets. |
