6	Yes!		Joanie's Family Wishlist	Our kids are great and would probably understand if we told them Christmas was cancelled due to our financial troubles, but I hope they do at least get 1 gift. I'm a struggling romance author (under a pen name) and don't make enough off my books to buy gifts. My car recently broke down and we had to get a predatory loan to pay for it, and it's caused other things to get behind. Romancelandia are always a great, generous bunch of people when it comes to need in the community, and I am so thankful I have this opportunity. Anything at all will be deeply appreciated. 7	Yes!		Gifts for a Cat enthusiast/Future astronaut/artist	I appreciate this SO MUCH!!! The hospital didn’t give us a bonus this year, so I’m getting a bit stressed. My kiddo is my whole world but it’s just the two of us and I do my best. Honestly she is thrilled with anything, and that just makes me want to do more. One year all I had was a big box of Crayola crayons (96!) and some pretty notebooks and it was like I got her an iPad. Last year I took a whole week off and she said that was her favorite gift. She’s so earnest it almost hurts (and I don’t know where she got it from, her dad is a selfish twerp and I am a sarcastic meanie lol). Things are hard (like the power company cutting our power while my mom is on oxygen hard) but I know this goes for everyone. Getting books or a tea strainer or pens might be unnecessary, but it means the world to me. Nothing was covered by insurance so my nest egg is now an empty nest. I know a lot of people are struggling right now, so any gift would truly be appreciated. We also do cat rescue work completely out of pocket. Being on an extremely tight budget, this means anything that isn't an absolute necessity often gets shuffled to the side for some undefined "later". 29	Yes!		Escaping the Bad Luck Year	At the end of a long, bad year, my husband's work truck was badly damaged and all our holiday savings are going to repairs instead. This list is so we can send gifts to family we're committed to in a gift exchange and a few critical items for us. If we get just enough to gift our family members, it will be a huge relief this season. (Romance has kept me sane [and maybe alive] for about 5 years now. The romance community has welcomed and sheltered me and made me have hope for humanity. 37	Yes!		Melinda Wish List	This has been one of the hardest years of my life, having done chemo non-stop for the last year with no end in sight. One of the things that have helped me through it has been books. Listening to a romance while I'm doing an infusion or reading a comfort read by Alyssa Cole or Olivia Dade for the 5th time is one of the only things left I can still enjoy. Things like puzzling or coloring are things I can do to occupy my time since I can't work. The combo of romance novels + an activity is unparalleled to get me through the day. Romance authors are the unsung heroes helping so many of us through so much shit. Moved in with my husband's dad and step mom in July. Was told the 11th of December we needed to find another place to live. His wife can't take the dogs barking anymore. Mind you they only bark at her or my father in law because they want nothing to do with my dogs. So now were having to find a place to live instead of buying stuff for our kids and my husband for Christmas. 47	Yes!		Lex Valentine Homeless Author & Kitties xmas wish list	The items on this list are things we can't afford at this time, items for our elderly cats or to keep us warm. As an author, it's been hard being homeless and having nowhere to work. It's hard to admit to people you don't have money for food or meds or a warm sweater or socks. I'm grateful to the warm hearts of the romance community and those who don't judge. Their kindness can make the difference for us and have in the past.
