|Eric Edwards and I created 'Radio Arlecchino' to improve students' language skills through podcasts. Although these twenty-two podcasts can be used independently, the creation of ‘Radio Arlecchino’ was inspired by the intermediate textbook we wrote 'In Viaggio, Moving Toward Fluency in Italian.' The podcasts are built around dialogues that explain the Italian grammar behind communicative language functions: functions like describing and comparing, recommending and expressing opinions, recounting the past, expressing likes and dislikes, hypothesizing, and talking about the future.|
We followed the framework of the seven major communicative functions used in 'In Viaggio.’ Eric Edwards and I worked with Prof. Carl Blyth-COERLL, director of Studio Operations and Audio Manager Michael Heidenreich-LAITS, and Graphic Designer Suloni Robertson-LAITS. Eric and I are the "hosts" of the podcasts in which we explain in humorous manner grammatical structures and introduce the dialogues; colleagues of the French and Italian department collaborated in the dialogues written by Eric and I. The dialogues are based upon the interaction of masks of the Commedia dell’Arte. In the pdf files, students find transcripts of the dialogues, in Italian, accompanied by an English translation, detailed explanations of the grammatical structures, and cultural notes.
So, Eric and Antonella, I’m a 51 year old lawyer, with some success, living here with my wife and our three kids (4, 6, 8).
Anyway, you two were so terrific, had such incredible chemistry, and are such incredible teachers, you are not only a joy, you are an inspiration to me as a trial lawyer. I could only dream of bringing material to life the way you do. And grammar at that.
I am sure I am not the first listener to say that I feel that I know you both, which is an incredible statement inasmuch as neither of you ever revealed a personal detail on the show.
Anyway, enough blathering. I just wanted you to know that there’s a guy walking the streets and riding the busses with a smile on his face, these many years after your last recording.
Best regards to you both.

Hello Eric and Antonella,
I wanted to thank you and your team (and the students) for your amazing learning tool with Radio Arlecchino. I've been studying my Italian for past couple years and started by listening to Radio Arlecchino. I wanted to ask if you or any of your team members might teach an online Italian course? My wife and I live in Laguna Niguel, CA in Orange County. She's from Texas and went to School at Southwestern University in Round Rock. The quality of your teaching style is outstanding.
I appreciate you time and feedback.
