5 | Professional Experience. | I've been a police officer, detective and supervisor for 27 years. I'm currently employed by the City of Fort Worth: our nation's 12th largest city. During my tenure, I've had a myriad of duties that mirror the duties of a justice court judge. In my earlier years and still some to this day, I've answered patrol calls on a daily basis where I was legally responsible for ensuring the safety and due process of adults and children in all types of police calls. I've been dispatched to every type of criminal call or civil dispute imaginable. As a detective, I've drafted numerous arrest and search warrants for persons, places and things. I've utilized Justice courts for the granting of arrest warrants as well as the other available courts as proscribed by law. As a police supervisor, I currently supervise 17 people and possess the needed management experience to supervise productivity, maintain fiscal responsibility for the unit and strive to have a welcoming place for my team to come to work being ever mindful of their respective skill sets and personalities. Further, I've had numerous hours of additional training dealing with a multitude of supervisory topics that no doubt will be relevant to the Office of Justice of the Peace. Some relevant examples include Interpersonal issue training dealing with diversity, the LGBTQ Community and people of color to name a few. As a licensed attorney for almost 10 years now, I am well versed in the necessity to protect the procedural and substantive rights of all parties involved in both criminal and civil cases that will come before the court. Although this is the court closest to the people and blessed with some informality, I will use my knowledge base to ensure that all parties are treated with dignity and the cases I rule on will be conducted fairly, always following the law and never legislating from the bench. This in turn will save tax payer money and help maintain the legitimacy of decisions rendered in the court. Simply put, cases that are ruled on correctly are less vulnerable to appeals which in turn costs taxpayer money! While being a police officer as my main source of income, I've been financially able to serve others as an attorney by helping them with legal issues at a free or discounted price. I've assisted in divorces, truancy issues, child adoption, landlord/tenant disputes, evictions, wills, trusts, elderly concerns, debt claims, and protected people in debt claim harassment issues. This is not an exhaustive list, just a mere sample of my training and experience as an attorney. Many of the issues I've helped with have original jurisdiction in Justice courts.

8 | Why I Am Running for Public Office. | I am a lifelong public servant. It's just who I am, was and will always be. I've made it to the finish line with my police career. Now, I desire to use my life of training, education and experience to serve the community where I live.
9 | Judicial Experience. | None officially as a judge. I've never been elected to office. Throughout my life I have worked with the courts as both a police officer and attorney and the multitude of duties that intertwine. I've presented arrest and search warrants to magistrates, testified as a witness for the State of Texas countless times and represented clients and defendants in both civil and criminal cases.
10 | Judicial Philosophy. | Follow the law as written and never legislate from the bench. Always be mindful of the procedural and substantive due process of defendants. Will always strive to be conservative in protecting tax dollars and will attempt to run the court the most efficient way practical.
