5 | Congratulations to the wrestling team for taking 1st place at the Church Farm Invitational Wrestling tournament on Saturday. The Griffins had 10 out of 12 wrestlers place in the top 4 in each weight class. Good luck to the team as they take on George Washington on Friday in the semi finals of the Public League Championship. |
6 | Congratulations to the Girls Basketball team on an exciting win yesterday over Rival Central HS. The team was up by as many as 12 points in the contest but Central fought back to get it to within 2 pts with 42 seconds left in the game. Aisha Muibi hit a foul shot with 1.5 seconds left that sealed the 47-43 win for the "Good Guys!" Aisha led the team with 19 pts. Naimah Hargrove was a beast in the paint with a career high 12 pts. Bea Kaeli scored 8 pts including a crucial 2 down the stretch. Rounding out the scoring was Soleil King with 5 pts, Ava McKee with 2 pts and Anyla Byrd with 1 pt. The win give the team an 8-3 record on the season. IN other exciting basketball news, on Monday, Senior Captain Aisha Muibi made Palumbo "herstory" as she became the school's first female basketball player to score 1000 pts! Aisha currently has 1035 pts and with 7 games left in the season plus playoffs, is WELL on her way to becoming Palumbo's all time leading scorer!!! |
