The data was transferred to a subcontractor’s network that wasn't following proper security protocols where a “malicious cyberattack,” took place, a CBP spokesperson told TechCrunch, but says its own networks weren't compromised. The agency first learned of the breach on May 31 and says it affected fewer than 100.000 people at a single land border.||https://techcrunch.com/2019/06/10/cbp-data-breach/|

The browser lets users limit access to CPU and RAM resources to ensure smoother gameplay.
Opera GX also comes with Twitch integration so users can log into their Twitch accounts from the browser's own sidebar.
Opera GX is currently in early access and available for download for Windows users.

Liu said 25 precent of Foxconn's production capacity is outside China, in places like Mexico, Brazil, Europe and India.
Liu said investments are being made in India in particular.
iPhones made in China are not yet subject to tariffs or other US restrictions and Apple has given no instructions to change production lines.

The songs dated back to 1997. In response Radiohead said “Instead of complaining—much—or ignoring it, we’re releasing all 18 hours on Bandcamp in aid of Extinction Rebellion. Never intended for public consumption (though some clips did reach the cassette in the OK Computer reissue) it’s only tangentially interesting.” The recordings will be on sale for 18 days, at the price of £18 ($23). Extinction rebellion is an environmental movement.||http://fortune.com/2019/06/11/radiohead-hack-new-yorke-release/|

Uber plans to launch Uber Air in 2023 in Dallas and LA, when it will at least be cheaper than a helicopter. If enough people use it, it will become comparable to Uber X and Uber Pool. After that the cost of manufacturing the flying taxis needs to come down to make it cheaper than owning a car. Uber is working with Boeing, Embraer, Bell and just announced today, Jaunt Air Mobility on the flying taxis, and will begin tests next year - starting in Melbourne, Australia. Of course to make its fleet of autonomous vertical takeoff and landing taxis a success, Uber will also need places to take off and land, customer trust and of course regulatory approval.||https://techcrunch.com/2019/06/11/uber-envisions-uber-air-will-one-day-be-cheaper-than-owning-a-car/|

The report touches on slow ecommerce growth, rising internet ad spending, freemium subscription business models, telemedicine, photo-sharing is dominating communication, interactive gaming is becoming he new social network.|
She noted that as the Internet has passed 50% global penetration, new growth is harder to find, with Asia Pacific holding the most potential. China has the most internet users in the world followed by India and the US. She also notes time spent on mobile has passed time spent watching TV. Digital video now makes up 28% of the video viewing vs. TV.
Podcast listening, Amazon Echo users, Wearables users and on demand consumers (Uber airbnb etc), NextDoor neighborhoods have all doubled in the past 2-4 years. Non-US based innovation remains robust, especially in data driven and direct financial services. She also said Data is the new Application "Data is now fundamental to how people work and the most successful companies have intelligently integrated it into everyone's daily workflow." People are still majorly willing to share data for personalized experiences. The pace of innovation is out running humans increasing ability to adapt. Social media usage is decelerating. 87% of web traffic is now encrypted vs. 53% in Q1 2016. People prefer negative news (no matter what they say) and the internet amplifies it and traditional media amplifies social media's trending topics. Freedom is both increasing and falling on the Web to a partly free middle. Cyberattacks increasing. Two-factor authentication stagnant, limiting effectiveness. (54% in 2014 to 52% in 2018) Online education offering more growth, more users, more choice and lower costs than off-line learning. SuperApps dominating in China. Grab, Rappi and Uber incorporating super-app features worldwide.

Microsoft is committing to get every Xbox One game to run on Scarlett, plus games from Xbo's four generations.||https://www.theverge.com/2019/6/10/18660423/microsoft-xbox-backward-compatibility-project-scarlett-e3-2019|
|Xbox players can now choose a Gamertag that’s already in use, but it will include a hashtag and random numbers next to their display name. Original Gamertags like MasterChief or MajorNelson will appear with no numbers next to them, solidifying them as original owner of the tag. If an Xbox Live member changes their Gamertag, their original will still be up for grabs.||https://kotaku.com/xbox-players-can-now-have-the-same-gamertag-if-they-do-1835409721|
- It's just like any other console, without the console. But no big change to the industry beyond that (yet?).
- Anyone can use it, including Ubisoft for Uplay+, and maybe EA soon?
- The "subscription to games" makes less sense if publishers have theirs on too.
|Email from Josh in Japan:|
I have a gaming PC in one room, and a MacMini attached to my large screen TV in another. I use streaming via Steam, but there is often controller issues etc.
I want to completely switch to Mac,,, but gaming has always made me keep a pc. If Stadia is good, I could still play games, but on my Mac.
Just hope they have accessibility features like button remapping (I’m disabled). Anyway, there has been a lot of “who is this for?” talk. Well, people who want to use Mac and game!
|Microsoft Projet Scarlet:|
- Only expected specs.
- Emphasis on Game Pass.
- Game Pass is transitional; get people in, they'll stay for Scralett (actually, they won't necessarily need "Scarlet").
- Starts in October (before Stadia).
- If it includes Game Pass games and includes server streaming, it's likely the best real "Netflix for games".

|Tim has an app tip based on our conversationn last Friday about dual commands to Amazon's assistant ("turn off the hall light and turn off the entry light) |
Tim says: one of the many things I love about AnyList is that when I tell Alexa to add something to our grocery list in AnyList, if it's already there, it tells me I already have it on the list, asks me if I want to add it again, and listens (without me needing to say the wake word again) to my answer! (Additionally, it supports entry on the web, pictures, recipes, multiple lists, custom order for the aisles in stores, and a bunch of other awesome features. In fact, with having a default list I can just say "Alexa, add potatoes to the list" and it will default to my main grocery list without having to say which list.
