A banner will appear at the bottom of the compose panel or chat window to let senders know when there's an out of office time block on their calendar, and will also note when the recipient will be back.||https://www.engadget.com/2019/08/30/gmail-ooo-notifications/|

The move is the last pieces of an agreement between Disney and the US Department of Justice to sell off 22 regional sports networks it acquired with 21st Century Fox. The New York Yankees keep their previous 20% stake in YES.||https://www.cnbc.com/2019/08/29/disney-sells-its-stake-in-yes-network-to-investor-group-that-includes-amazon.html|

The FTC voted 3-2 to approve a settlement, which now goes to the Justice Department to review. The FTC has not commented on Politico's story.|

|:33||tm||Google's Project Zero published research on an attack on iOS from 2017 until February of this year. In January this year Google’s Threat Analysis Group -- or TAG-- discovered compromised websites that installed malware on visitors iOS devices without their knowledge. Simply visiting the site was enough to get infected. Ian Beer wrote that the attackers used 12 separate security flaws. Most were bugs within Safari. The malwware could access location info, contacts and passwords stored in keychain and relay it to a remote server every 60 seconds. TAG passed the discovery to Apple which patched the vulnerability in iOS 12.1.4 on February 7. Google did not publish which websites were infected but said the sites received thousands of visitors per week.|

The free service will feature 30 different vehicle models capable of Level-4 autonomous driving, but include a human driver. |:41||tm||In new Windows Insider builds, Microsoft is testing a redesgined tablet mode for 2-in-1 devices running Windows 10. The redesign keeps the desktop in full view, keeping task bar icons visible, but with increased spacing to make it easier for touch. Some tablet features remain. The search box collapses into an icon. The touch keyboard appears when you tap on a text field and file explorer switches to a touch-optimized layout. The changes are currently limited to 2-in-1 devices and are designed to be automatically enabled when you remove a keyboard like on a Surface Pro. The old tablet mode will still be available in settings if you want to turn it on. Dedicated Windows 10 tablets will remain unchanged.||https://www.theverge.com/2019/8/29/20839655/microsoft-new-tablet-experience-windows-10-convertible-hardware-desktop|
|:44||sl||On June 20 Apple announced a voluntary recall of 2015 MacBook Pros with Retina Display due to a fire risk from overheating batteries. The recall covers some, but not all, MacBook pros sold between September 2015 and February 2017. This week airlines started to take notice. Virgin Australia announced that all 15-inch MacBook pros, regardless of model number must not be put in checked luggage. Qantas said its policy further requires the laptop to be switched off during flight. Thai Airways and Singapore Airlines will not allow the laptops on flights at all until the battery has been verified safe or replaced. And TUI Group Airlines, Thomas Cook Airlines, Air Italy, and Air Transat have prohibited affected laptops as well.|

|I think there might be a way for Google to help Huawei, but it would involve Google giving Huawei preferential treatment and exceptions.|
As it is now, it is not easy if impossible to sideload Google services into open source Android or phones not part of the Google Android Alliance. This is because of a new policy Google implemented around a year plus ago that have more checks.
I think what Google should do is allow Mate 30 phones to side load with less checks or no checks, IE "look the other way". It will of course not be the same as having them preloaded but will still salvage some usability.
The issue will mostly be how it is seen by other members of the Alliance as prefentrial treatment. But I think there's a (not 100%) chance that they will see it as beneficial ijncsse they too get hit by a trade ban, since a few of them are China based.
Full disclaimer, I am a user of the Mate 20 X (7.2 inch version of Mate 20 series, you had a story once about it last year) and I love it very much. I am really hoping this issue gets solved or a bypassed in some ways because Huawei makes really really good phones - and that is coming from a former iPhone user of 9 years.
