35 | Since I started my professional career, at the beginning of the millennium, I have been passionate about sharing and creating a community of practice in the context of foreign language teaching and learning. For the last decade I have been exploring, researching and teaching how to integrate Open Educational Resources (OERs) and Open Educational Practices (OEPs) in foreign languages. In terms of teaching practice, I have created dozens of OERs and directed 7 Language MOOCs (e.g. “Professional English”, “How to succeed in the English B1 level exam”). I have also designed the master’s course “Open Language Learning” at Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED, Spain), which aims at making students aware of the different degrees of engagement and integration of OERs within the teaching practice, ranging from fully embracing open pedagogies and encouraging students to participate in course design, to simply creating and sharing content through social networks and open repositories. I have provided teacher training to help language practitioners become familiar with OERs and their potential for foreign language teaching and learning. The training sessions covered various aspects of Open Education applied to foreign languages, and included summer courses, workshops and continuing education programmes for educators, both at national and international level. Finally, most of my research in the past years has been devoted to Language MOOCs -conceived as a continuation of the OER/OEP initiative- aiming at consolidating it as a relevant subfield of Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL). Apart from participating as presenter in numerous symposiums and international conferences, I am the founder and coordinator of the LMOOC SIG (Special Interest Group) at EuroCALL (The European Association for CALL). My most relevant contributions in the field have been the co-edition of the first monographic volume on LMOOC research (2014) and the publication of the special issue on MOOCs for language teaching and learning in the ReCALL Journal (2021).
