8 | Plainfield East defeated No. 15 Brother Rice 3-0 to advance to 4A State Semifinals on Saturday. Plainfield East took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 3rd. Sophmore Brady Louck got the inning started with a lead off single to centerfield. One two batters later, Christian Mitchelle tripled down the right field line scoring Louck. Jacob Eason drove in Mitchelle with a sacrifice fly to left field. Plainfield East added an insurence run in the fourth on a two out RBI single from Louck. Louck went 3-3 with two doubles, a RBI and a run scored. Louck got the start on the mound, throwing a complete game shut out with thirteen strikeouts, two hits and walked two. Louck commanded the zone with all pitches. A fastball with arm-side run held at 88-90 mph, sinking changeup sat 81-82 mph. Louck completed his three pitched sequences with a curveball with sharp 12/6 break sitting 69-71 mph. | ||||

10 | No. 20 St. Laurence defeated Marian Catholic 5-2 to advance to 3A State Semifinals on Thursday. St. Laurence score early in the first inning and never looked back. Mike Laudando led the game off with a walk. Later would come around to score on a two out single by John Wendling. After Marian Catholic scored one run on the top half on the third, St. Laurence's Kevin McCormick and Jason Krol would answer with RBIs to extend the teams lead back to two, making it 3-1. McCormick answered the call on more time in the fifth with an RBI single to left field scoring Laudando. In the same inning, Krol would come aroun to score by a sacrifice fly from Angelo Luna, giving St. Laurence the final score of 5-2. Michael Laudando threw a complete game allowing one earned run on eight hits and struck out twelve. From a short arm action, high 3/4 slot, Laudando fastball sat 83-84 mph and topped out at 85 mph. Laudando mainly threw his curveball throught the game, capable of throwing it in any count, 11/5 break with sharp actions at time sat 73-75 mph. Sinking changeup sat 74-76 mph. Eddie King went 3-4 with a triple and two runs scored for Marian catholic. Marian Catholic starting pitcher,Tyler Fullman's fastball sat 89-91 mph. | ||||

14 | Hononegah defeated Prospect 9-7 to advance to the State Finals. The Indians found themselves chasing three runs heading into the bottom of the first inning; senior Noah Goddard would erase that deficit with one swing and tie the game with towering homerun to left-field. Prospect put up three runs in the top of the first; junior Ethan Rossi would plate two runs with a triple and would later come around to score himself to give the Knights an early 3-0 lead at the time. Braden Sayles (Hononegah) would lead off the top of the third inning with a double to put a man in scoring position with no outs; senior Gabe Roessler would go on to single up the middle to score Sayles and tie the game at four run a piece. Senior Scott Porter would deliver a 2 RBI single to left-field to give the Indians their first lead of the day. Juniot Bryce Goodwine would lead off the bottom of the fourth inning with a single; Dylan Sayles would go on to single on a hard ground ball to right-field to score Braden Sayles and Goddard to extend their lead to 8-4 at the time. Dylan Sayles would later come around and steal home on a wild pitch to inflate the lead tp 9-4 at the time. Prospect would push three more runners across in the remaining innings but would fall short 9-7. Braden Sayles picked up the save on the mound to send his team to State. Sayles featured a confident mound prescence and bulldog mentality, as well as a fastball that ran up to 87 mph with life through the zone. Sayles also featured a sharp 11/5 breaking ball in the 71-75 mph range. The right-hander filled up the zone and attacked hitters no-matter the count. | ||||

18 | Prarie Ridge defeated St. Francis 5-4, advancing to the State Finals with the win. The Wolves came out swinging in the top of the first, putting up three runs courtesy of a pair of doubles from senior Alex Milone and senior Dylan Bremer. St. Francis would charge back and tie the game in the bottom of the second inning. Junior Adam Wiborg led off the inning with a single and would later come around to score on a double from senior Daniel Maller. Another run would later score due to a bases loaded hit-by-pitch to even up the game at three runs a piece. In the top of the third inning, senior Will Komar would lead off with a sharply hit double and later come around the score on a fielder's choice to give the Wolves the lead once again, 4-3. Prarie Ridge would add on some insurance in the top of the fifth inning; Komar, Milone and senior Owen Brock all strung together singles to push home the fifth run of the game and extend their lead to 5-3 at the time. The Spartans wouldn't go down easy however; sophomore TJ McMillen singled and would later come around to score on an RBI single from sophomore Rocco Tenuta to cut the deficit to only 5-4. The one run would prove the be the difference however, as senior Parker Swanson came out of the pen and notched the save to send the Wolves to the State Finals. | ||||
