| Majella Henchion | Outside UCD | As the current president of the UCD EGA, I'm humbled to get to follow in this one small aspect of Tom's foot-steps. I'm saddened that I won't get an opportunity to avail of his wisdom and council or to see him at our events post COVID-19. He was and will remain a shining example of what an excellent engineering leader can be - someone who gave of himself tirelessly across a wide range of interest areas for the betterment of society as a whole. In the quite way of many of the leaders of the engineering profession, he has shaped the Ireland of the 20th and 21st centuries to the benefit of all. His impact on us all will live on for many years to come. |
| P J Rudden | Outside UCD | Sincere condolences to Rosaleen and family on the death of our first UCD EGA President Dr Tom Hardiman. Tom was RTE Director General at a very young age during a turbulent period of Irish history (1968 - 1975) when he ensured the integrity and independence of public service broadcasting. He went on subsequently to other national leadership roles in education, industry, banking and international relations. He was truly one of the builders of Modern Ireland together with T K Whitaker, Ivor Kenny, Liam Connellan and others. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis. |
| Aoife Ahern | UCD Staff | My deepest condolences to Tom Hardiman's family and friends from the UCD community. |
| Simon Kelly | Outside UCD | Very sad news to learn of Tom’s passing. A great deal is owed to him by us all, not only for his efforts in the founding and establishment of the EGA, but also as a leader of engineering in Ireland for decades. My condolences to his family. |
| Tony O'Brien | Outside UCD | My sincere condolences. Tom was a lovely man whom I met many times before, during and after my terms as President of the EGA. He was always supportive, a very good listener and a giver of wise advice. He will be missed. |

| James Mac Hale | Outside UCD | As a freshly-minted UCD EE bound for Japan via the Fas/Enterprise Ireland scheme of the time, Tom invited me to a dinner he was hosting at his home for some Japanese business executives, back in 1987. Just one example of his kindness and thoughtfulness which I've always remembered. My condolences to his family, may he rest in peace. |
