| Date Groomed or Used | Trail | Trail Conditions |

| 4/26/23 8:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Groomed from trailer to Water Canyon. Pretty thin below CC hill, might be the last time? |
| 4/24/23 8:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Groomed from trailer to Water Canyon. Soft conditions due to overnight cloud cover. Really nice above 2nd gate. |
| 4/21/23 8:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | One more lap to the yurt and back with the ginzu groomer. Skis nicely above the 2nd gate. #milkituntilmay |
| 4/17/23 8:30AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Cooler night-time temps allowed a lap with the Ginzu to the yurt and back. Broke up the post-holed crust into a nice layer of corn. Skied quite nicely. Thanks for voting with your skis. We see you up there milking this exceptional season for all its worth. |
| 4/15/23 9:00AM | Beaver Bottoms | Waiting for the snow to soften so I can groom, but the crust skating is amazing! Come on up later this morning. |
| 4/12/23 12:00PM | Smithfield Canyon | HEY! If you enjoyed Smithfield the past few years as much as we have, please consider donating toward a NEW GROOMING SNOWMOBILE for next season. As you've noticed, the old one, at 20 years old, is ready for replacement. We have grants to cover about 2/3s of the cost, but need help with the remaining $7,000. Every little bit helps. Here's the link: https://givebutter.com/nu-smithfield-sled |
| 4/9/23 9:00PM | Smithfield Canyon | Little Bunny Foo Foo, oh so fine, Grooming corduroy up Smithfield line. Skiers glide with pure delight, Thanks to Bunny's work all night. |
| 4/9/23 7:30AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | HAPPY EASTER! can you believe the snow! Green is all groomed for this beautiful morning come enjoy the canyon one last time. |
| 4/8/23 1:00PM | Green Canyon - single track | (First section stomped and widened in 3 hours by Boyd) The trail gets progressively softer as you move up. |
| 4/8/23 7:30AM | Beaver Bottoms | Good spring conditions the sun is shining bright after the beaver mtn bash and Easter egg hunt come enjoy some skate or classic skiing in the bottoms |
| 4/7/23 1:00PM | Other | Freshly groomed xc and classic track at the Bear Lake Overlook/Sunrise Campground Friday afternoon. This is not groomed by NU, but rather Epic Recreation in Garden City. |
| 4/7/23 8:30AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Groomed all the way. Bottom half of the trail is a bit rough from walkers, but it gets better higher up. Get out and enjoy! |
| 4/7/23 7:30AM | Smithfield Canyon | Groomed and the Nordic track is set! I was able to get most of the bumps smoothed out. Groomed up fairly nice, it is a little clumpy in spots due to sun and warmer temperatures from yesterday. Probably going to get a little soft later on today but overall the trail is in good condition. This is most likely the last grooming of the season as well. Still beautiful up there with the deep snow piled up next to the creek. Enjoy some skiing on Easter weekend! |
| 4/6/23 8:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Ski track is groomed to the top and classic track is set. Lots of snow up there. Enjoy it while it lasts. |
| 4/6/23 7:30AM | Smithfield Canyon | ! Wow! That was a big storm! 2 to 3 feet of new snow! Worth going up to just see that. trail is rolled nice and wide to the top of the canyon. The campground is rolled and groomed. I ran out of time to groom to the top of the canyon. it is in good condition to skate ski and Nordic ski. We’ll get all the bumps leveled out later on today or this evening. Enjoy what might be the last few days of winter! We may never see the snow this deep again! |
| 4/5/23 10:30AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Parking lot and road NOT plowed as of 11am. Do not attempt to drive to the trailhead without high clearance 4x4, even then bring a recovery strap because odds are someone in a car will be stuck there (single lane). Rolled to 2nd gate only, snow too deep beyond that. Hopefully it’ll get groomed tomorrow. |
| 4/4/23 7:00PM | Beaver Bottoms | 3 plus feet of fresh powder has been rolled. Super soft snow. |
| 4/2/23 10:00AM | Green Canyon - single track | Good packed trail to the end of sec 4 |
| 4/2/23 8:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Super wet soft snow. Skate and classic all set ready to be used. Watch the report if weather permits we will try and groom next weekend as well. Cheers |
| 4/1/23 10:00AM | Beaver Bottoms | April 1 we had about 25 inches at beaver bottoms all groomed should make for a great ski day. |
| 4/1/23 8:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | No snow on the trail, winter is over... April fools! Winter looks far from over. The trail is fully groomed with a nice cord and classic track. The warm temps have made for some sticky snow below Preston Valley, but still very good snow to be had. Enjoy it! |
| 3/31/23 8:30AM | Smithfield Canyon | A little dicey with the thawing and snow coming down the hill. Trail is narrow in spots rolled should be great skate skiing. Road not plowed to the gate. |
| 3/31/23 5:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | No groom this morning. Between the snow and wind, my footprints up Green were getting filled in within minutes, so there wasn't much point in grooming until this storm blows through. Trail should be ready to go tomorrow morning. Road is a little spicy since you can't see where the ruts are under the snow. |
| 3/28/23 11:15PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Groomed for skate and classic. Gate to water canyon. |
| 3/28/23 3:00PM | Logan River Golf Course | I called the Logan River Golf Course (which is groomed by Logan City) and xc skiing grooming operations have ended for the season |
| 3/28/23 9:00AM | Green Canyon - single track | Trail is groomed only by foot and bike traffic so it’s kind of rough and narrow. Especially past the switchbacks at the second gate. Most places higher up track is 6-12” wide |
| 3/27/23 12:00PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | The big moose was back hanging out at the loop at the top of water canyon. |
| 3/27/23 10:00AM | Green Canyon - single track | Soft pack trail |
| 3/27/23 4:30AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Fresh groom and classic track from bottom to the yurt. Lightly Snowing until I left and conditions felt good! Still winter up there. Go enjoy it while you can! |
| 3/26/23 9:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Really really good and great snow the trail had 2-4 inches new low and about 6-8 from the meadow up. Water canyon has some deep drifts in it. It is groomed and classic is set but be aware of the drops due to the drifting in Water canyon. Over all the trail should be in excellent condition for skate and classic skiing!! |
| 3/26/23 5:30AM | Smithfield Canyon | Quick groom to pack the 2 inches received from this morning. Classic track is set. Should be nice and fast in the morning if it doesn’t snow tonight! |
| 3/25/23 10:00PM | Smithfield Canyon | Classic track is set and the road is all smoothed out. Enjoy! |
| 3/25/23 12:00PM | Beaver Bottoms | The Battle at the Bottoms continues! Won this round. Groomed cord and classic, turned out nice but the wind will fill it back in quickly. Raised the course markers again. Too much of a good thing?? You decide. ❄️❄️❄️🦫 |
| 3/25/23 8:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Spring? Never heard of it. Groomed top to bottom, but the top already had 3 fresh inches by the time I skied up. Trail is in great shape aside from the new snow. Road is in moderate shape. Parking lot is in poor shape. Enjoy! |
| 3/25/23 6:20AM | Smithfield Canyon | Anywhere from 8 to 16 inches of new snow. Canyon is looking beautiful again!!! Rolled with the grooming mat down. Trail is in great shape for being rolled. When I went to set the Nordic track and groom with the heavier groomer, the snowmobile quit on me, and is parked in the middle of the trail near the bottom by the bridge. Skiing should be great. You’ll just have to ski/walk around the snowmobile until we can get it working again! |
| 3/24/23 7:30PM | Beaver Bottoms | Trailers had roughly 10 inches of new snow since the last groom. Groomed up super nice however as i was finishing old man winter started blowing and snowing. We hope to have another groom in the morning to freshen it up. |
| 3/24/23 5:45AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Happy fourth day of spring! Green is groomed for skate and classic from the grooming trailer up to the yurt, but it’s coming down hard up there, so expect soft conditions. Enjoy the snow! |
| 3/22/23 10:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Trail was fully groomed for classic and skate this morning. Enjoy! |
| 3/20/23 5:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Warmer temps and a light dusting of new snow. Ginzu was fairly effective despite the firm, heavy snow at setting a nice corduroy but classic track didn't get set very well. |
| 3/19/23 6:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Groomed top to bottom with multiple passes in the split meadow, around the yurt and up water canyon. Trail is very firm, too firm to successfully lay single tracks. |
| 3/18/23 10:30PM | Smithfield Canyon | It’s hard to get all the foot prints out this time of year but it groomed pretty good overall. There are three dirt patches at the bottom of the canyon you’ll have to walk across. After that it should ski pretty well. At the top section of the canyon there are parts of the trail that are potentially in the deposition zone of wet snow avalanches. Be alert if you’re skiing the upper canyon and the sun is out. There is a lot of snow that’s likely to move at some point. |
| 3/18/23 8:30AM | Beaver Bottoms | Groomed and classic set. Conditions are ok trail next to the road is ice. And few ruts throughout the skate lane. |
| 3/18/23 6:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Trail in good shape but hard! Access road about to only 4wd, not awd, due to melt. Be careful! |
| 3/17/23 7:00PM | Smithfield Canyon | The trail groomed up nicely above the third dry spot. The bottom of the canyon is starting to deteriorate a little. It should set up good tonight with the freeze for Saturday’s skaters and classic skiers. |
| 3/17/23 2:30PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Wonderful conditions! Especially trailers up! 😄 |
| 3/17/23 8:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Don't let the rough road discourage you! There's excellent snow to be had, and it gets better the further you go. Earlier is better with these cool nights and warm days. Skate track groomed from trailer to top, and classic track set as best as I could. Enjoy! |
| 3/15/23 9:30AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Firm, rough slush. Recommend 4WD and high clearance to access the trailhead. It is deeply rutted and slick. |
| 3/15/23 7:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | No groom this morning due to the rain and warm temps- we’ll be back at it once things cool off a bit! |
| 3/13/23 11:00PM | Smithfield Canyon | The canyon road is all smooth with a classic track set. |
| 3/13/23 9:00PM | Green Canyon - single track | Groomed to the Yurt. Filled in a lot of postholes. Trail was beat up in places from people without snowshoes and a regular mountain bike or two. Hopefully this groom will help to extend this remarkable season. Everyone who appreciates the groomed trail - please do not use regular mountain bikes. They are like pizza cutters to the base. Runners - stay where you're not leaving holes. This is very often the MIDDLE of the trail (not the edge). If you're leaving holes, please turn around and consider using the first section for laps. |
| 3/13/23 12:00PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Don’t Even attempt to get to the Trail Head without high clearance 4x4! Park at King Park or go to Smithfield Canyon instead. |
| 3/13/23 4:30AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Conditions looked really good for the warmer weather we are having. Fresh groom and classic track from bottom to water canyon. Trail quality improved a lot second gate and up. The road to the parking lot was doable but challenging in my Subaru Forester so be cautious. |
| 3/12/23 8:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Good and solid. Lightly snowing don't let the fresh snow fool you at how firm the base is. Classic reset at the bottom and top. Multiple laps on the skate lane. |
| 3/12/23 8:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Road to the gate is bad reccomend 4 wheel and high clearance. |
| 3/11/23 9:30AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Groomed Trailer to Water Canyon twice, set classic tracks back to the sign post close to the trailer. Conditions are good, classic tracks ok based on the snow hard packed, but much better than how the tracks were when I got to GC this morning. Enjoy! Road conditions are a mess |
| 3/11/23 8:00AM | Smithfield Canyon | Good trail conditions. Skate and classic all set should be a great day for skiing. |
| 3/10/23 10:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Trail in good shape but soft! Access road about to only 4wd, not awd, due to melt. Be careful! |
| 3/9/23 2:45PM | Green Canyon - single track | I fat tire biked it and it is super soft. I didn’t get very far because I felt like I was ruining the grooming job they just did. I’m a bigger guy so maybe that’s why but it was also 40 degrees Thursday. |
| 3/8/23 10:00PM | Smithfield Canyon | There's Sun Valley, Deer Valley, and Cache Valley. Smithfield is a winter wonderland and groomed to perfection for cross country skiers, skate skiers, and snowshoers. It's a bit soft so I recommend snow bikers take advantage of the fantastic grooming in Green Canyon. Happy happy joy joy! See you all in the canyon. |
| 3/8/23 7:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Freshly corded and classicked. Come and enjoy it before the next storm does its thing. |
| 3/7/23 1:00PM | Green Canyon - single track | Groomed to yurt but soft |
| 3/6/23 8:00PM | Smithfield Canyon | Groomed and classic track set. With all the snow there is a small ridge of loose snow in the center. Beware of the bare spots on the road. |
| 3/6/23 10:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Trail was fully groomed this morning classic and skate. Good conditions. |
| 3/5/23 5:00PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Two of us groomed the canyon from top to bottom with numerous passes in all sections. Heavy snow and previous failed grooming attempts left conditions questionable. Breaking trail on sleds, rolling and running the ginzu allowed us to shape it up quite nicely before setting tracks on our way down. Trail looks outstanding for this time of year. |
| 3/5/23 10:00AM | Logan River Golf Course | Logan City grooms the Logan River Golf Course; not Nordic United. Golf Course was freshly groomed Sunday morning. 2 loops. |
| 3/4/23 9:00AM | Beaver Bottoms | Trail is in ok shape had small issues getting tracks from the sled out be cautious with you skis. |
| 3/4/23 8:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Trail is in fantastic shape. A few fresh inches yesterday packed down nicely for some pretty corduroy and classy classic tracks. No sign of Ms. Moose today. Groomed from bottom to top. Enjoy! |
| 3/4/23 12:30AM | Smithfield Canyon | Skate lane groomed tried to leave the classic b we trail is in good shape |
| 3/3/23 8:00PM | Green Canyon - single track | Groomed all the way to the Yurt. Last section getting to the Yurt is extremely soft. The rest should be FANTASTIC for Saturday, March 4. The singletrack gets progressively soft past the 2nd gate. Runners/hikers without snowshoes - please be considerate of the work that has been done. "Think before you sink". |
| 3/3/23 3:40PM | Smithfield Canyon | The canyon was beautiful today. It was snowing lightly with about six inches of un-groomed snow and 29 degrees. Rolled, combed and set the classic track. Pruned many branches hanging out over the road due to all the snow but there are still many coat rippers and hat grabbers to watch for. Enjoy. |
| 3/3/23 11:30AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Whiteout heavy hard snow and wind from meadow to water canyon, Came around a corner and upon a Large full grown moose on ski trail a little over halfway down when coming down around noon….had to go back up and enter the single track to go down around it safely as he was not getting off the trail anytime soon! |
| 3/2/23 6:00PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Decent groom due to moose actively on trail. Worked the skate lane 2x from the hoof divots. Classic lane was left from second gate to yurt. Water Canyon was not worked to give the moose some space. Gate to gate groomed 2x and reset the classic track. It is a tough year for the critters. Give em some space and don't make them burn more energy than they have to! |
| 3/2/23 4:00PM | Beaver Bottoms | ....DDeeeep snow. How deep? many of the snow poles were beneath the snow. They are six feet in length. Travis from Beaver Mountain Resort groomed the trail at 1:15 P. M. today. The snow is firm and dry. Skiing is excellent. Please go ski it on Friday or early Saturday morning. Best conditions of this monster snow season! Trail is groomed for skate and classic track is set. Both access points near the parking lots are shoveled and clear of snow. "until the next pass of the DOT snowplow" The parking lots are plowed. Today's weather was bright sunlight, a little breeze, and 28 degrees on my thermometer. |
| 3/2/23 3:00PM | Beaver Bottoms | Beaver Mt. groomed Beaver Bottoms after yet another epic dump. |
| 3/1/23 3:30AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Rolled and ginzu'd for several laps this morning to widen and pack in the fresh snow. Classic track from Water Canyon to the parking lot but got washed out in a few spots. |
| 2/28/23 2:00PM | Smithfield Canyon | Rolled and it was a challenge! I would guess 8 inches of new at bottom and up to 18 inches at top. Hard to tell with the blowing and drifting. However it is in good shape now. Didn’t have time to groom and set nordicTrack. |
| 2/27/23 9:00PM | Smithfield Canyon | The canyon has been rolled out and is still quite soft but relatively flat. No classic track is set. |
| 2/27/23 4:30AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Great groom tonight after all that snow! Fully groomed and track set from water canyon to the bottom! Snowing as we left. Enjoy! |
| 2/26/23 8:30AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Great conditions trail is groomed and firm should make for some fast PR today. There was a limb above the long meadow that fell and left plenty if pines across the trail. Campground has 3 laps for those want to learn to skate |
| 2/25/23 8:30PM | Smithfield Canyon | Snow was soft and warm should make for fast skiing in the morning. Skate and classic set! |
| 2/25/23 10:00AM | Beaver Bottoms | Beaver Mt. groomed this morning. Reportedly beautiful! |
| 2/25/23 9:30AM | Smithfield Canyon | Worked over pretty good. Packed up and set up nice! Groomed as wide as I could and set the Classic track. The skate skiing should be very good if you can beat the hikers! |
| 2/25/23 8:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Fantastic conditions this morning. Trail groomed from top to bottom with great corduroy and smooth classic tracks. Skating was excellent. Trail will soften throughout the day with the warm temps, but will still make for great skiing. Get out and enjoy the sunshine! |
| 2/24/23 11:30AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Fully groomed and classic track set up to Water Canyon. Beautiful day out there! Enjoy. |
| 2/23/23 10:30PM | Green Canyon - single track | Soft. Lots of new snow. Snow dogs with shep. Down from the yurt and everything below. Hope it settles up over night. |
| 2/23/23 10:30PM | Green Canyon - single track | Very soft - especially so in the last section to the yurt. PLEASE use snowshoes or fatbikes. Running without snowshoes will certainly posthole the trail. This is true even in the lower sections. |
| 2/23/23 8:45AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Rolled to Water Canyon last night (2/23). Grooming this morning (2/24) |
| 2/22/23 3:00PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Wonderful! Thank you for packing it down! Much easier than pushing powder skating 😅And all the way to Water! And it looks like you had to do some tree work! Thanks …Jason says it was Gordon 😁 |
| 2/22/23 2:00PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | N/A Entering volunteer hours |
| 2/22/23 8:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | NA- submitting grooming volunteer hours |
| 2/22/23 5:30AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Well, we asked for more snow and we got it! Trail has been rolled from the grooming trailer to the top of water canyon and groomed from the first trailer to the second gate- should be decent skiing up to the second gate today, expect soft conditions from there up to WC. Enjoy! |
| 2/21/23 11:30PM | Smithfield Canyon | Around 8-12 inches of new snow. Rolled and then groomed, classic track set. Snowing when we finished up. Smithfield canyon is a Winter wonderland again! |
| 2/21/23 9:00AM | Green Canyon - single track | Wet and soft |
| 2/20/23 9:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Sorry for the late post- trail fully groomed this morning good conditions throughout- enjoy. |
| 2/20/23 8:45AM | Beaver Bottoms | Beaver Bottoms should be groomed by the time you get here this morning. Happy President’s Day 🇺🇸 Hit it before the next storm. |
| 2/19/23 9:30PM | Smithfield Canyon | Classic track and road are in lovely shape. Happy President's day! |
| 2/19/23 11:30AM | Green Canyon - single track | Wet packed snow |
| 2/19/23 9:30AM | Smithfield Canyon | 3 laps great skate and xc skiing. With about 3 inches if fresh snow the trail groomed up extremely well. |
| 2/19/23 8:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Have about 2 inches fresh on the bottom and 3 to 4 up top. Super light fluffy snow made for great grooming and a great skate lane and classic. Enjoy! |
| 2/19/23 8:00AM | Beaver Bottoms | 5'' of fresh snow at beaver bottoms today. Packed down nicely. Skating was a little soft, but the classic track set up very nice. Enjoy! |
| 2/18/23 11:00AM | Other | Sunrise Campground is groomed for classic skiing and snowshoeing. Trailhead is the Bear Lake Overlook Rest Area. |
| 2/18/23 1:00AM | Smithfield Canyon | Groomed early! Sorry for reporting late! |
| 2/17/23 8:30PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Trail is in great shape. Groomed skate lane and reset classic tracks from WC to bottom. With a cold night, it’ll be perfect in the morning. |
| 2/17/23 8:00PM | Beaver Bottoms | Great conditions multiple laps made and classic track set. |
| 2/17/23 11:00AM | Green Canyon - single track | Hard pack to the yurt. One pass with dog to upper meadow. Still soft. |
| 2/17/23 12:15AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Trail is looking awesome! I just groomed the entire trail making multiple passes all the way from Water Canyon to the bottom gate. I made additional looped around the split meadow, around the yurt, and in the training area. Fresh single-tracks set from WC all the way down. Trail conditions look outstanding!!! |
| 2/15/23 10:30AM | Beaver Bottoms | 5 inches or new snow. Temperature was 14 degrees, no wind, clear, sunny. Groomed wide skate trail and set classic tracks. Cleared trailhead access at both parking lots. The parking lots were NOT plowed today. |
| 2/14/23 10:20PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Groomed for skate a classic from bottom gate to Yurt. Water canyon only packed with sled due to drifting. |
| 2/14/23 1:00PM | Green Canyon - single track | Good groomed trail first half then groomed but soft to the yurt. |
| 2/13/23 11:30PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Trail is in great condition. Skate track is groomed to the top of WC and classic track was reset as well. |
| 2/13/23 1:00AM | Green Canyon - single track | Hey guys, please avoid biking up Water Canyon, especially in these soft conditions, and especially pushing your bike up the trail. Really makes a mess. Thanks. |
| 2/12/23 7:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Great groom this morning! Nice and dry. Groomed from the bottom to water canyon and set classic track. Get out and enjoy the snow. |
| 2/11/23 8:00PM | Green Canyon - single track | Fantastic all the way to the switchback section. At the switchback (section 6) the trail is somewhat soft, but very rideable. The final section to the Yurt is the challenge. Spent a number of hours stomping with snowshoes and leveling the increasingly off-camber areas on the final approach to the Yurt. Hit this section with the snow dog 2X. However, because of the amount of snow in the last storm, it's simply not setting up well in some areas. Where the sun is able to warm it, it's not bad. In shade areas, it is like trying to pack sugar. That said - we do need traffic on it. Snowshoes, touring skis, fat tires. If you need to walk your bike - please do so on the HIGH side of the trail. The edge is soft and you will certainly create massive postholes. |
| 2/11/23 7:00PM | Smithfield Canyon | All groomed classic track was in good shape. Enjoy. |
| 2/11/23 8:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Fresh cord and classic lanes from bottom to top. The moon is nice and bright right now and these clear skies make for great night skiing. Enjoy! |
| 2/11/23 8:00AM | Beaver Bottoms | Groomed skate and set classic tracks on trail. Skate trail is 20 feet wide. Temperature at 9:00 A.M. was 21 degrees. Clear sky, no wind, firm snow base, with 1 inch of powder on surface. Conditions are excellent for skiing. Parking lots are plowed and trailhead shoveled of snow. |
| 2/10/23 6:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Happy Friday! Green is groomed for both classic and skate from the grooming trailer up to the yurt- no water canyon yet due to some equipment issues. Still, if you’re feeling adventurous, there are lots of big drifts up water canyon that would make some pretty sweet jumps on the way back down… Trail conditions should be great for classic and skate this morning, expect slightly soft conditions from the meadow up to the yurt. Enjoy! |
| 2/9/23 2:00PM | Smithfield Canyon | Groomed for classic and skate. Careful, Canyon Road is narrow and snow packed in places. |
| 2/8/23 9:00AM | Beaver Bottoms | Groomed skate and set classic track on 3 inches of fresh snow. Northeast wind and snowing throughout the morning. Tracks were filling in from the wind. Trailhead access are shoveled and cleared. Parking lots are not plowed. Road to Beaver is slippery and snow covered. Temperature at noon was 24 degrees. |
| 2/6/23 11:00PM | Smithfield Canyon | Classic track is set and the road is groomed. |
| 2/6/23 10:00PM | Green Canyon - single track | Replaced brake cable and housing on the Snowdog. Groomed through section 5. Stopped at the beginning of section 6 (the tight switchback section). Soft, but should set up well. If weather cooperates, we should be getting back t the Yurt by the end of the week. |
| 2/6/23 11:00AM | Beaver Bottoms | 5 inches of new snow with snow falling throughout the day. Groomed skate portion of the trail with roller and set classic track with the razor. Snow surface is firm with fresh snow on the top. Temperature was 28 degrees. Trail access is cleared of snow and parking lots are plowed. |
| 2/6/23 6:30AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Trail groomed up nicely tonight! Skate and classic ready to go from the bottom gate to water canyon. Should be a great Tuesday ride. Enjoy. |
| 2/5/23 11:00AM | Beaver Bottoms | Groomed skate and set classic track. Snow surface is firm, packed, and dry. Snowfall began at 11:30 a.m. Forecast for new snow today. Parking lots are plowed and trailhead access is cleared. |
| 2/5/23 10:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Trail groomed this morning up to Yurt for skate and classic. Good conditions throughout. |
| 2/4/23 10:00PM | Smithfield Canyon | All groomed nice trail for skate and classic |
| 2/3/23 7:00PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Good cord and classic track set from lower gate to Water Canyon. Should have set up nicely by this morning |
| 2/3/23 2:00PM | Other | Right Hand Fork is well-packed and quite smooth (from several snowmobile passes). Only needs a refresher on the surface. Note that No Parking signs have gone back up at where the road meets US 89, so have to park across road again (if there is space). |
| 2/2/23 12:30AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Groomed skate track and reset class track from WC to the bottom. Snow is in great shape and ought to be exceptional skiing. If only the air quality matched:( |
| 2/1/23 1:00PM | Beaver Bottoms | Inversion Buster! Beaver Mt. laid down some crisp cord at Beaver Bottoms today. |
| 1/31/23 6:30PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Groomed from Water Canyon to lower trailer with both sleds and set the single track the length of the trail. The cold temps should help setup firm conditions on the trail overnight for great skiing conditions tomorrow. |
| 1/31/23 3:00PM | Smithfield Canyon | I made one pass up and down the canyon laying down corduroy and classic tracks. It is still very soft. |
| 1/29/23 10:00PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | I went out last night and was humbled by the conditions. Crazy soft in areas and got stuck at the meadow - you will see the hole I dug! Based on my long delay in the canyon, I only grinzied from 1st gate to yurt and back down. I will try to get back out this Monday afternoon to clean up the trail. If you ski today, classic will probably be best with the cold weather. The classic track is set from 1st gate to the meadow..Speacial thanks to Rex for helping with the quick help last, I was kicked back to the apprenticeship program. |
| 1/29/23 2:30PM | Green Canyon - single track | Very soft. A lot of new show. At least 12" at the parking lot. Nearly 3' at the Yurt. Was able to get to the end of section 4 (the long flow section on the North of the road). We need snowshoes and backcountry skiers to break the trail. Snowshoers - though walking right in the middle of the trail is great, it's even better if you'll stomp the high edge of the trail (on off-camber sections). Fatbikers: Consider taking a backpack/snowshoes. Ride to where you cannot ride any more - then snowshoe. Think quality vs quantity. A good stomp with width for a single section is better than a skinny single path to the top. If we work together - we can have the trail back in just a matter of days. |
| 1/29/23 12:36PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | A lot of snow rolled and ginzu with classic still snowing lightly |
| 1/28/23 8:00AM | Smithfield Canyon | Great conditions overnight added about 4 inches of snow groomed up nice and classic set enjoy! |
| 1/28/23 6:30AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Trail didn't sinter much from the roll fellas were gracious enough to provide yesterday afternoon, so trail, while nice corduroy, is very soft. Two passes bottom to top, but Water Canyon was too soft to run the groomer - only packed down with the 'biles. Still, nice cord and classic track set. |
| 1/27/23 7:45PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Only rolled and set for skate at this time. Many drifts and snow is soft. Rolled from 1st gate to Water Canyon. Depending overnight conditions, the plans are for grooming Sat morning and hopefully the track will be in better shape than how it is currently (which is fairly good, but soft). |
| 1/27/23 2:00PM | Smithfield Canyon | Mid-storm roll-out. Also installed pallet-bridge along the south side of the upper dry spot to hopefully save your ski bases. |
| 1/27/23 12:30PM | Green Canyon - single track | Moto and Snowdog we’re running, but most sections were not setting up. Snowshoes only we’re appropriate from switchback and up. |
| 1/27/23 9:00AM | Green Canyon - single track | First half ok but upper half very loose and dry. |
| 1/25/23 12:00PM | Beaver Bottoms | Trial groomed for skate skiing and classic track set. Cold temperatures throughout the day. Early morning temperature of 3 degrees and afternoon high temperature of 19 degrees. Trail is wide and fresh snow groomed. A 10 mph wind caused drifting snow in parts of the trail. Snow is crusted for 2 inches, then soft below. When double poling with strong push, pole is breaking through the crust. Larger baskets on your pole is the answer. While skate skiing, set your ski edge by rolling your ankles inward. |
| 1/25/23 11:30AM | Smithfield Canyon | With new snow and a fresh groom the canyon is in good shape to skate or ski classic. At the turn around at the top there was about 8 inches of new snow. |
| 1/24/23 10:00PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Groomed skate track and set track from base to water canyon. Snowing pretty hard when I finished up at 10 PM. Couple inches of fresh fluff. |
| 1/24/23 11:00AM | Green Canyon - single track | Good up to the hard switchback then loose and sugary. I closed the trail at hard switchback to let it set up from the snow dog. Did take the snow dog above the yurt until I got to the quakies. Needs snow shoes before machines can go any further. |
| 1/24/23 7:00AM | Other | We hope you’re enjoying the trails this season! Please join us at our annual fundraiser and social this Friday at 6pm, Logan River Golf Course Join us on Friday January 27th! https://givebutter.com/NUfundraiser |
| 1/23/23 7:30AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | My first time solo! Groomed from button to the top. Snow was soft and cold. There is no classic track today due to a machine malfunction, but we hope to have it fixed and laid by Wednesday. A skate skier passed me going up and said that the fresh groom felt great. Enjoy! |
| 1/22/23 10:00PM | Smithfield Canyon | Smithfield Canyon is Groomed and the classic track is set! 11° when I finished up. Received 1-2 inches of snow today. Still beautiful up there with all the snow on the trees! Should be fantastic tomorrow! |
| 1/22/23 8:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Great conditions for skate and classic |
| 1/21/23 6:00PM | Smithfield Canyon | 6 to 10 inches of new snow. Rolled it up and down twice then groomed it and set the classic track. Beautiful up there. Should be great tomorrow! |
| 1/21/23 9:00AM | Beaver Bottoms | Groomed trail for classic and skate skiing. Trail is firm and wide. Zero degrees at 7:30 A.M. All the parking lots are clear of snow. Sunny day and no wind for great skiing. |
| 1/21/23 8:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Beautiful conditions. Made multiple passes with ginzu and skate lane is in wonderful shape. Set classic track from Water Canyon to beginning of trail. Snow is cold. |
| 1/20/23 9:00PM | Smithfield Canyon | Trail groomed up really good do have some campers however up the road is really good. Classic set |
| 1/20/23 11:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Snow surface is grand, a little squeaky powder over a smooth base. Blue or purple wax worked swell. Thank you groomers! |
| 1/19/23 9:40PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Groomed late Thursday night, conditions are nice! Two laps up and down. Nice skate lane and classic tracks set from Water Canyon to the trailer. |
| 1/19/23 11:00AM | Beaver Bottoms | Groomed trail for skate skiing and classic track set. Snow base measurement is 58 inches at Beaver Bottoms Nordic Area. Sunny sky and light wind, combined with 2 inches of power snow, excellent ski conditions. Come to Beaver Bottoms to avoid the daily fog in Cache Valley. It is SUNNY !! |
| 1/18/23 2:40PM | Smithfield Canyon | The canyon groomed up nicely from the bridge to the top for skating and with classic tracks set. The snow load in the trees makes for some low branches along the edges so watch for those whippers. |
| 1/18/23 4:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | The light dusting of snow and low temps in the early morning made for some very good snow grooming conditions that should set up nicely today. Groomed up to water canyon and set the classic track down to the parking lot. |
| 1/16/23 2:30PM | Green Canyon - single track | Between 2 motos/groomers - we were able to hit all upper sections multiple times. Packable snow made for very good grooming conditions. Though we did many passes, a lot of section 5 (before the switchback section) is soft. Everything to the YURT is rideable. Hopefully it will setup today and be good for the rest of the week. Runners, please pay attention to how much you are sinking and consider turning around if you're leaving prints deeper than 1". Thank you! |
| 1/16/23 9:00AM | Beaver Bottoms | Dreaming of fresh cord and classic this MLK day?? You got it! Widest skate lanes around too. |
| 1/16/23 9:00AM | Green Canyon - single track | 4 to 10” new snow. Packed multiple times with Big Wheels. Very good condition. |
| 1/16/23 7:30AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Groomed up to water canyon and classic track set from top to bottom. 10-12 inches of fresh snow. |
| 1/15/23 1:30PM | Smithfield Canyon | Snowing lightly 3 pass with ginzu classic track laid. The snow is wet sticky and still snowing as of 1:30. |
| 1/15/23 12:00PM | Beaver Bottoms | 3 inches of new snow. Groomed skate trail and set classic track. Snowfall continued throughout the grooming process. Trail is excellent for skiing due to all the new snow. Parking lots across from the trail were not plowed/cleared of snow. |
| 1/15/23 11:15AM | Beaver Bottoms | 6" fresh snow covering the grooming by 10am so skate skiing a challenge. But beautiful out there! |
| 1/15/23 5:30AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Laid down some courd for your snowy Sunday morning- skate lane should be pretty good, classic tracks from yurt to trailer came out ok. Enjoy! |
| 1/15/23 4:00AM | Smithfield Canyon | Due to rainy skies grooming is paused to to prevent make an ice sheet will be groomed when later. |
| 1/14/23 2:30PM | Beaver Bottoms | Beaver Mt groomed this morning, looks gorgeous. No classic track. |
| 1/14/23 8:30AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Fresh cord and classic from top to bottom. Fresh Lion kill just past the trailers, keep your pets close! 🙀 Kinda’ warm this morn, ahead of our next storm. |
| 1/13/23 1:00PM | Green Canyon - single track | Hard first half and soft second half but great biking conditions. Used the trail dog. |
| 1/13/23 9:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Skate lane groomed and classic track set from lower gate to water canyon |
| 1/12/23 8:30PM | Smithfield Canyon | Classic track is set and the road is groomed. The base is fairly soft so I encourage skis or snowshoes. |
| 1/12/23 2:00PM | Green Canyon - single track | Hard packed first half and soft but great second half. Did a lot of trimming on last section before yurt. |
| 1/11/23 8:30PM | Green Canyon - single track | Groomed to Yurt. Very soft from Switchback section to the top. Please no foot traffic without snowshoes. Riders, if you cannot stay mounted, please do not walk up the trail. The last section (beyond the Yurt) has not yet been touched. The last section will need snowshoes to get it back into rideable condition. |
| 1/11/23 1:00PM | Green Canyon - single track | Full run on the BW to the yurt. Had to make multiple runs due to all the new snow. |
| 1/11/23 10:00AM | Beaver Bottoms | 20 inches of new snow. I was unable to pull the roller through the deep snow. Contact Beaver Mountain Resort to ask for grooming by the Piston Bully. |
| 1/11/23 8:45AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Note that the road and parking lot have not been plowed yet. Very poor conditions. Snow tires, 4x4 recommended |
| 1/11/23 8:30AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Lots of new snow especially up high. Rolled trail multiple times to water canyon. No classic set yet. Lots of low branches. Probably will skate ok but expect soft conditions near meadow and above. |
| 1/11/23 8:30AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Trail is groomed with classic really a great snow especially the higher you get the bottom needbto watch for ice patches |
| 1/10/23 8:30PM | Green Canyon - single track | Very Soft. Ran the snowdog up the trail Widened where I could. Smoothed trail out to the Yurt. Was really hoping to go above the Yurt into the last section. However, the snow was just deep and wet enough to make it too much for the snowdog. Please use snowshoes if using the singletrack over the coming few days (especially in the higher sections). |
| 1/10/23 5:55PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Rolled only from first gate to Water Canyon, snow is heavy and wet, many drifts and many inches of snow. Probably ok for skating if you set your expectations correctly!!! Hopefully it cools down soon for the snow to dry out and we can set the classic tracks. Also the road is a nightmare, had to push out someone and we got help from a follower groomer who had a tow rope with him... |
| 1/10/23 2:00PM | Green Canyon - single track | Good packed snow up to yurt. |
| 1/10/23 8:00AM | Green Canyon - single track | 4” of wet snow at base with 8” at the hard switchback. Unable to go further with the BW |
| 1/8/23 9:30AM | Smithfield Canyon | Great shape. There is a lot of low limbs bring some pruning shears and help yourself to clearing them back. |
| 1/8/23 7:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Made multiple passes and reset classic track. Snow groomed up nice, particularly above second gate. Snow was cold and powdery this morning. |
| 1/7/23 7:00PM | Green Canyon - single track | Very Soft. Please use Snowshoes or Fat Bikes. Please do not run past the first section without snowshoes. If you're a fat biker, turn around if you're walking your bike. |
| 1/7/23 2:00PM | Green Canyon - single track | Good half way up. Very soft the rest of the way to yurt. Closed above yurt. |
| 1/7/23 12:00PM | Green Canyon - single track | Na |
| 1/7/23 9:00AM | Green Canyon - single track | Made it to the yurt with the BW. Great 1st mile, good second mile, 3rd mile fair to poor very soft above hard switchback. Last section good luck! Very soft could barely get up to the yurt with the BW. Not rideable past the B yurt. |
| 1/7/23 8:00AM | Green Canyon - single track | Packing run on the BW to the yurt. |
| 1/7/23 7:30AM | Beaver Bottoms | Soft powder snow. Groomed soft light unlike the valley the snow is light roughly 12 new inches groomed 5 laps classic track set. As of 7:30 am no parking has been plowed. |
| 1/7/23 7:30AM | Smithfield Canyon | Groomed the fresh snow to the top. The trail is beautiful, but very soft! Please please please use snowshoes if you will be walking, and avoid stepping on the classic track. Skating is tough today in the soft snow, but the classic track is pristine! |
| 1/7/23 5:45AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Happy Saturday! Groomed 2 passes from the parking lot to the top of water canyon this morning, set classic track from the yurt down to the parking lot. Expect very soft conditions above the second gate. It’s a beautiful day to escape the inversion with some skiing! |
| 1/6/23 6:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Good corduroy but soft! Started raining at the parking lot so be cautious. Great up top. |
| 1/5/23 5:00PM | Green Canyon - single track | Tough going on the Snow Dog to the hallway. The snow was really warm and kept packing up in the track. |

| 1/4/23 9:00AM | Beaver Bottoms | 2 inches of new snow this morning. Groomed skate trail with roller, and classic track set with razor. Temperature at 9 a.m. was 21 degrees. Snow was fluffy and groomed easily into a firm surface. Trail condition is the best this season. |
| 1/3/23 2:00PM | Other | Road up Right Hand Fork and past Camp Lomia was glorious, refreshed by about 5" of new snow on a packed base. Saw a moose, 2 grouse and a herd of elk. Can park right where road departs highway 89 (last year's no parking sign is nowhere to be seen). |
| 1/2/23 1:00PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Hikers:: An amazing single-track trail exists to the right of the road. Road makes for great cross country skiing! Thanks! Skate Skier #1 |
| 1/2/23 10:00AM | Beaver Bottoms | 5 inches of new snow on Monday morning. Groomed trail with roller for skate skiers, and set classic track with razor. Snow had lower water content than this past Saturday. Snow surface is smooth and compacted. Skiing was VERY good. Trail is widened for skate skiing. Fresh snow began at 1 P.M. Parking lots are not cleared daily by UDOT. Parking your car can be difficult. Limited space!! |
| 1/2/23 7:50AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Great for both classic and skate!!! Tracks are set from the trailer to Water Canyon. Tried to get out the deep post holes and ruts on the lower section, but still some deep post holes and ruts, so be careful. Groomed from 1st gate to Water Canyon, sorry tracks start at the trailer.... |
| 1/1/23 9:30PM | Smithfield Canyon | The trail groomed very nice , should be great for tomorrow if it doesn’t snow too much tonight. It was lightly flurrying when I finished up. |
| 1/1/23 3:00PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Ran two sleds in tandem to groom all the way to water canyon setting fresh single tracks all the way down. Multiple additional passes made in split meadows, yurt and below second gate. Snowfall continued throughout but the afternoon groom will hopefully help establish a solid base for future snowfall. |
| 1/1/23 3:00PM | Green Canyon - single track | Packing snow made for good grooming. Made through most of section 8 above the yurt. Made for fantastic conditions on Monday 01/02/2023 |
| 1/1/23 9:00AM | Green Canyon - single track | Packed with moto to yurt. |
| 1/1/23 8:00AM | Smithfield Canyon | Snowing made a pass things look good with a super wet packable snow classic set. |
| 1/1/23 4:15AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Groomed bottom to top with multiple passes made below second gate, at the split meadow and up water canyon. Heavy snowfall quickly erased most progress although deep ruts formed in previous warm conditions were filled and smoothed out which should make for an easier groin as snowfall dissipates. |
| 12/31/22 3:15PM | Beaver Bottoms | New snow is heavy, wet, and 9 inches deep. Trail is groomed for skate and classic track is set. Warm temperature of 38 degrees at noon today. Parking is a problem because UDOT has NOT plowed any of the lots. Sheriff arrived as I was leaving at 2 P.M. This is the second time parking lots have NOT been plowed for skiers and snowmobiles. It also occurred on December 10. |
| 12/31/22 9:00AM | Green Canyon - single track | Trained Jerry on singletrack grooming with the Motos. |
| 12/31/22 7:30AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Warm temps have made things pretty soft all the way to the top, but don't let that discourage you- there's still great skiing to be had and no lift lines to wait in :) Rolled from the trailer to the top of water canyon. Too soft for ginzu, so no classic track unfortunately. Bottom is still icy, but it's a short walk to the trailer and the snow is good from there on up. Happy new year! |
| 12/30/22 6:00PM | Green Canyon - single track | Fantastic. Took time to fill in post holes and ruts. |
| 12/30/22 8:15AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Very icy at the bottom, use caution well past the trailers. Ginzued the skate lane only from the trailer to Water Canyon. Conditions are fairly nice a bit past the trailer, some icy areas before the second gate. Fairly nice after the second gate, much nicer after Preston Valley. Some icy areas as you work your way up to the yurt, so be careful when coming back down. Many ruts from snow bikers (lower section before the turn off) and deep holes from walkers/runners up most of the trail. Too Bad folks don't understand the damage they cause, and the work needed to get these deep holes and divots groomed out of the trail. Pass the word along if sinking ankle deep, go back home and do something else...I don' see how walking or running in ankle deep slush is enjoyable..... |
| 12/30/22 7:30AM | Beaver Bottoms | 4 laps groomed up good currently snowing. Classic is also set around. Enjoy the skiing! |
| 12/29/22 12:00AM | Smithfield Canyon | Classic track set, trees shaken off - somewhat, and about perfectly groomed road. I hope everyone enjoys it! |

| 12/28/22 10:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Slush fest to the second gate above the second gate conditions improve. Above the meadow ther is another pond in the trail. Rolled and ginzu. |
| 12/28/22 10:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Classic track is set above the winter regulations sign. And stopped at the top of candy cane hill and starts again at the second gate to water canyon due to the ponds that have formed. |
| 12/27/22 8:00AM | Green Canyon - single track | Very Wet conditions. Packed from bottom to yurt with the big wheel |
| 12/26/22 9:30PM | Smithfield Canyon | Classic track is set. The road is still fairly rough after grooming. It is flattened but a bit rough. |
| 12/26/22 10:00AM | Green Canyon - single track | 2-3 inches of new snow. got in a fill run with the snow dog |
| 12/26/22 9:00AM | Smithfield Canyon | 37° and slushy. Lots of foot prints but it skis pretty well. Groomed and classic track set. |
| 12/26/22 8:30AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Super soft spring like conditions did best to leave coord but sometimes it ens up more like mashed potatoes. Use caution in the parking very slick. |

| 12/24/22 7:40AM | Beaver Bottoms | New snow, 3 inches, temperature 28 degrees, trail groomed for skate and classic, snow texture is soft, pole plants go 3 to 6 inches below surface, snowing throughout the morning, blue kick wax for classic, for skate skiing Swix chart indicates TS7, if you have fluorine wax from past use LF6 for trail conditions. excellent skiing today. |
| 12/24/22 7:30AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Outstanding conditions and grooming. Big thanks to whoever was grooming this morning. Just beautiful. ― R Davies |

| 12/23/22 8:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Hard packed had a bent Skagg on ginzu was it has been removed but not till the grooming was finished. There may be a small scar in the middle of trail because of this. Use caution. |
| 12/23/22 8:00AM | Beaver Bottoms | Groomed skate and classic on both loops. A couple rocks in the middle of the trail have been marked with wooden stakes. Merry Christmas! |
| 12/22/22 2:00PM | Green Canyon - single track | Lots of post holes from all the irresponsible hikers. Took some time to try and clean up the trail a bit. Was able to use the snowdog to pack the entire trail from the trailer to the top of the hallway. Spent some extra time widening the trial past the yurt |
| 12/22/22 8:30AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Hard pack between the first and second gate. Be careful! Above 2 gate trail becomes bowl shaped due to winds and drifting. Water canyon drifts were knocked down and ginzued however still some mogul action available. |
| 12/22/22 3:30AM | Beaver Bottoms | All groomed and ready for skating or classic. Enjoy! As I finished up 4 snowmobiles entered and tracked up the S turns on the hill so those sections are going to ski a little rough until we groom again. |
| 12/21/22 11:30PM | Smithfield Canyon | Classic track is set and the rest of the road is all smooth. Enjoy and Happy Solstice! |
| 12/21/22 4:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Groomed top to bottom with both sleds including Water Canyon and set the classic track all the way down. Windy conditions early above the meadow. 243 | 12/20/22 2:30PM | Green Canyon - single track | Sections of the trail were heavily wind drifted. Had to use a shovel and the snow dog to break through the drifts. Full run from trailer to the top of the hallway. |

| 12/19/22 9:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Trail is fully groomed for classic and skate from parking lot to Water Canyon. Enjoy the winter wonderland! |
| 12/18/22 10:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Two groomers hit the trail this morning, ginned up and down, and set classic tracks from Water Canyon to second gate. Left classic tracks as-is from 2nd gate to 1st gate....cold snow, so probably better for classic, bit great corduroy 2nd gate to Water Canyon, fairly hard pack from 1st gate to 2nd gate, but this area groomed up nicely... |
| 12/18/22 8:30AM | Beaver Bottoms | Groomed! Top loop is in tip-top shape. Bottom loop has a few spots that are still getting smoothed out, but there's lots of great snow to be had. Enjoy! |
| 12/17/22 4:00PM | Beaver Bottoms | Bluebird ski day at Beaver. Snow cat removed the moguls and creek crossings. minus 4 degrees fahrenheit at 8 a.m. and 20 degrees at 4 p.m. Snow is "chunks" where snow cat moved in snow to cover creek. Snow surface is excellent on remainder of trail. Glide is plus 20 feet while skate skiing. Skiers gave me thank you while I worked on the trail. I made one pass with razor and classic track setter. Also, reset marker poles and filled low spots by shoveling snow, re-tied rope along part of the trail. |
| 12/17/22 12:15PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Good shape runners posted all the way up to water canyon had to go pretty deep to get out the tracks overall trail is in good shape. |
| 12/17/22 6:00AM | Smithfield Canyon | Trail groomed good leveled out some spots need to bring some pruning sheers for classic there are lots of low limbs |
| 12/16/22 11:00PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Trail was in rough shape from heavy usage. Classic track set very well and clean. Corduroy is great in some spots and just ok in others. |
| 12/16/22 4:00PM | Beaver Bottoms | Beaver Mt groomed this afternoon with the cat and likely fixed some of the challenges we were facing with the deep, faceted snow and the creek crossings. Thanks Travis! |
| 12/16/22 11:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | A little packed down and worn till about second gate, unfortunately, several snowshoe, and hiking shoe imprints on the middle of the trail in skate ski section from bottom to halfway up as of mid day today, looks like trail was rolled yesterday trying to keep up with all our new snow! After about half way up, there were classic tracks in good condition and from there conditions were significantly less trafficked and good up through yurt and water canyon. Some car keys were lost near or in the bathroom up by the yurt yest… please message athwenna @yahoo.com if found. |
| 12/15/22 10:00PM | Smithfield Canyon | Corduroy and classic track set. There are lots of low hanging heavy laden branches went to snow. Beautiful. |
| 12/15/22 6:30PM | Beaver Bottoms | By my tape measure, 10 inches of new snow. Groomed upper and lower sections with the razor and comb. I was unable to widen the lower section. Moguls still high and deep in the lower section. I skied classic style entire course. Snow texture is excellent, blue kick wax worked great. Air temperature when I skied at 5 P.M. was 18 degrees. |
| 12/15/22 6:30PM | Green Canyon - single track | Very soft. Should be good tomorrow. |
| 12/15/22 5:00PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Rolled only from first gate to Water Canyon. Went late this afternoon to help prep snow for the next groomer. Lots of snow and drifts along the trail. Snow is soft, but should be fairly good for skating - as long as it doesn't snow anymore |
| 12/15/22 7:00AM | Green Canyon - single track | Fully groomed track to the hallway. |
| 12/14/22 5:30PM | Green Canyon - single track | Soft - but good to the yurt. Very soft past the Yurt. |
| 12/14/22 5:00PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Rolled only. Rolled from first gate to Water Canyon. Soft conditions, should be fairly good for skate skiing. Lots of snow and drifts most of the trail. |
| 12/13/22 9:00PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Rolled trail to Water Canyon - handed off to Noah who was going to run the Ginzu; expect soft conditions with light covering of new snow. |
| 12/13/22 9:00PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Groomed with ginzu up to yurt and back to parking lot, set the classic track on the way down. With cold temps the trail should set up well - as Dennis mentioned soft conditions with a few inches of fresh snow. Refilled Scandic after grooming - one empty gas can in trailer. I forgot to check the status of the battery after grooming but I did not have to do much adjusting of the tines and it seemed to have plenty of juice. |
| 12/13/22 7:00PM | Smithfield Canyon | Reporting last week’s rolling. About 7 inches of new snow, rolled Smithfield Canyon |
| 12/13/22 2:00PM | Green Canyon - single track | Powder then |
| 12/13/22 1:00PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | 2-3" of loose fresh snow. Tried to do some skating around lunchtime and didn't make it too far. Poling was difficult with all the fresh snow and the base was too soft to get much power when pushing off. Hopefully grooming will firm things up. |
| 12/13/22 10:30AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Lots of snow and soft. Rolled only and made two passes from trailer to Water Canyon. Should be very good for skate skiing, and soft skate skies are probably best. Snowing fairly well while I was grooming, and thus the reason not to set tracks - assuming they would have been snowed in quickly... |
| 12/12/22 6:00PM | Smithfield Canyon | Rolled the canyon still snowing pretty good as I finished. The trail is super soft but in good shape. There is no classic track due to rolling the canyon only. Classic track will be set tomorrow. |
| 12/12/22 5:30PM | Green Canyon - single track | Snowing as we finished up. Trail is in good shape, but soft in the last section gettng to the YURT. Very soft after the Yurt. |
| 12/12/22 5:30PM | Green Canyon - single track | Groomed up past the yurt to the Hallway. Soft conditions above the Yurt. |
| 12/12/22 4:00PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | super soft powder all the way up. About 3-4 inches at the first gate about 4-5 at the second about 6 ish at the top. With little to no moisture in the snow the xc trail is super soft. Lower campground also rolled for those wanting to get and learn on flat area. No classic due to just rolling. |
| 12/10/22 6:00PM | Beaver Bottoms | Groomed upper section with roller, multiple passes. Used razor to groom upper section for skate skiing and set classic tracks. Snow is packed and coverage is very good. Ski that area for the best skiing. Lower section that parallels the roadway too narrow for skate skiing, also has exposed sagebrush branches (I bought and used loppers). The section between the trees has deep crevices that create moguls. I attempted to widen this section...no success. I made one pass with the razor to set classic tracks. This lower section is good for classic skiing. Clear sky and high temperature of 36 degrees today. Parking lot was full of snowmobile trailers. |
| 12/10/22 4:30AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Groomed and laid classic track all the way to the top. No new snow but it’s still cold and in great condition. Get out and enjoy! |
| 12/10/22 12:00AM | Smithfield Canyon | Reporting from the 10th of December. Groomed Smithfield canyon |
| 12/9/22 5:00PM | Beaver Bottoms | Rolled entire course (finally). Quite the Rodeo, and we were the clowns 🤠 Alan will be up in the morning to finish the job as it needs to set up tonight. |
| 12/9/22 11:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Groomed from first gate to Water Canyon, set classic tracks down to the trailer from Water Canyon. Snowing a fair amount while grooming, conditions are great, and the snow is better after Preston Valley. Enjoy! |
| 12/6/22 11:30PM | Smithfield Canyon | Neatly groomed with two track set. |
| 12/5/22 9:00PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Super nice for morning trial is starting to flatten out had a couple inches of fresh snow from Sunday night. Enjoy |
| 12/5/22 6:00PM | Green Canyon - single track | Fantastic. Snow was in a good state for grooming. Was able to roll many postholes from runners/hikers. Trail is in good shape. |
| 12/4/22 10:30PM | Smithfield Canyon | Warm soft snow prevented good grooming. The canyon is packed down. Later this week when it cools off we will set a two track and adequately smooth out the canyon for winter activities. |
| 12/3/22 6:00PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Good it was rolled multiple times last night and then tonight it was groomed with the classic track |
| 12/3/22 2:00PM | Beaver Bottoms | Upper loop groomed and classic track set. Would you believe there’s still too many day-um rocks to groom the lower?? 🦫 |
| 12/3/22 9:30AM | Green Canyon - single track | Soft. Groomed up to the Yurt. Should be fantastic tomorrow (12/04/2022). |
| 12/2/22 6:00PM | Green Canyon - single track | Get the motos and snow dog in place to start the new year of grooming. |
| 12/2/22 8:00AM | Smithfield Canyon | The canyon has been rolled it will need to set up over night before we can groom the trail. Great start to the season! |
| 12/2/22 8:00AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Lots if new snow the permit. The canyon will get rolled before early morning. We will have grooming training at 10 am on Saturday. So look for fresh groomed trails on Saturday and Sunday! |
| 12/2/22 7:30AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Glorious snow. 6-8" light fluffy. Slow ski breaking trail to 2nd gate only - had to get home for breakfast. |
| 12/1/22 4:00PM | Green Canyon - single track | Pre-storm widening effort |
| 11/30/22 8:45AM | Green Canyon - ski trail | The road from bathrooms parking lot to locked gate is plowed (not groomed) for some reason....not sure how to access skate/classic track unless you want to walk up the plowed/slushy/melted road. Was good yesterday before they plowed. Nothing was groomed as of yesterday. |
| 11/28/22 2:00PM | Green Canyon - ski trail | Plenty of snow for good skiing. The lower gate is open and cars are driving up the canyon, kind of ruining the good snow. 2nd gate is closed and conditions really improve above the gate. Hope grooming happens soon. |
| 11/19/22 2:00PM | Beaver Bottoms | Pre-groom passes with the roller on the upper loop to pack the track. Still a few land mines lurking below the surface, best to wait for the next storm. 🦫 (Hours include equipment delivery & set-up, course & boundary marking and snow shelter maintenance by Alan, Rex, Jeff P. & Jason W. over multiple days). |
| 10/29/22 9:00AM | Green Canyon - single track | Trail Maintenance |
| Other | Road along Right Hand Fork had snow enough for a fine ski |
