35 | By: Isaiah Glidden Associate Scout/Staff Writer Backed by a dominant performance on the bump from Nate Langbehn, the D.C. Everest Evergreens took down our preseason No. 10 team in SPASH. Despite his impressive outing, the SPASH offense did jump on him early after single from Jackson Fox on the first pitch of the game and another single from Kale Roth, SPASH was threatening in the first. Bennet Klish then came up and grounded into a fielder's choice to bring home the first run of the game. After this one run first inning, Langbehn would then start to dominate as he would hold SPASH scoreless until the sixth and he got some help from his offense. In the fifth, with runners on, Preston Miller grounded into a fielder's choice but SPASH tried to get the runner out advancing to home which ultimately brought home two runs after an errant throw and gave D.C. Everest the 2-1 lead. In the sixth, SPASH grabbed the lead right back after a sacrifice fly from the aforementioned Klish and a an error to make it 3-2. When it was D.C. Everest's turn to hit in the sixth, Cuyler Soppe delivered a RBI single to tie the game up at three. Then after a sacrifice fly from Logan George and a RBI single from Preston Miller, the Evergreens found themselves up by two going into the final inning. In the seventh, Langbehn continued to dominate but was ultimately taken out to his pitch count but Noah Chmielewski came in for the final out and produced a ground out to give D.C.
