Junior CF Lucas Ametrano was an All SCC selection as well. Senior C/1B Mike Buccaro has been a starter since his Freshman season and will provide key leadership. The key for us this season will be the development of a young pitching staff. We have some talented young players who are eager to step into new roles and help the team. We return a good core group of players coming off of last year's SCC championship and an appearance in the state finals. Senior P/RF Bryce Meder and Junior P/SS Lucas Deshefy were both All State & All SCC selections. Deshefy was the SCC Player of the Year and New Haven Register Player of the Year, although an injury will limit him to a DH role for most of the spring. SCC regular season & conference tournament champions | CIAC Class L Runner Up | Class L - CIAC | 5/1 | We have shown great improvement each year of my coaching tenure at Guilford (2-16 in 2021, 12-11 in 2022, 24-4 in 2023) and hope to continue to build as a program. We return a good core group of players coming off of last year's SCC championship and an appearance in the state finals. Senior P/RF Bryce Meder and Junior P/SS Lucas Deshefy were both All State & All SCC selections. Deshefy was the SCC Player of the Year and New Haven Register Player of the Year, although an injury will limit him to a DH role for most of the spring. We play a challenging schedule full of contending teams, and as always will aim to be playing our best baseball in late May. I'm excited to get to work with this group. | 1. Toughness 2.
