3 | No. 1 Edwardsville | 0 | No. 3 Belleville East | 2 | Final |
4 | No. 1 Edwardsville and No. 3 Belleville East squared off for the PBR Game of the Day and ultimately saw East hand the Tigers their first loss of the spring by the score of 2-0. Locked at zero runs apiece heading to the bottom of the fifth, '22 Micah Georgian singled through the left-side to bring '22 Kannon Walker to third-base - with Georgian drawing an errant throw from the Tiger's catcher on an attempt to go to second, allowing Walker to score and bring the score to 1-0 at the time. Junior Pat Mendiola would follow shortly after with a sac fly to right-field, bringing the score to 2-0. The Lancers were led on the mound by junior Mississippi commit Zander Mueth - who tossed 3.2 shutout innings with only one hit and five strikeouts. Senior Lake Land JC commit Kannon Walker came on in relief of Mueth and was dominant as well, going 3.1 innings with no runs allowed, four strikeouts and four hits. There are very few players in the country that replicate the amount of talent Mueth has on the mound, with the right-hander sitting 93-95 mph throughout his outing and reaching back for 96 mph. He pairs his darting fastball with a knee-buckling slider at 80-82 mph, kept mostly down - and a heavy fading changeup at 84-86 mph. Despite taking the loss, Saint Xavier commit Gannon Burns was highly impressive. The reliable right-hander tossed five innings with no earned runs (two unearned) - surrendering six hits and striking out six to just one walk. Uncommitted junior Logan Geggus came out of the 'pen for the Tigers and impressed with a lively fastball up to 85 mph to pair off a sharp slider at 70-73 mph - tossing a scoreless frame with one strikeout to hold the Lancers offense.
