Down by three runs headed into the top of the seventh inning, Homewood-Flossmoor rallied back valiantly, scoring four runs to take the lead before turning things over to the bottom half of the frame. Jason Ballard got things going with an RBI single to left, a run was balked in, and then senior infielder Charlie Anderson sprayed one into right field, scoring two and giving the Vikings a lead they wouldn’t relinquish. Charlie Faoro had an impressive day for Homewood-Flossmoor, tallying two base hits and closing the game out in relief, while Preston Lund went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double. Tommy Haggerty’s impressive performance on the bump should be noted, as the uncommitted junior fired four frames of one-run ball, punching out five batters and scattering just three hits.
