The Spartans would add on four runs in the top of the fifth and three more in the sixth to put the game out of reach for good. St. Norbert commit, Jaden Holgado gave an impressive look against one of the top pitchers in the state, turning on a 92 mph fastball in the first at-bat of the game to drive a double off the wall - finishing the day with two hits. The Spartans were led on the mound by Joliet JC commit, Alejandro De Leon, who fired a complete game shutout to earn the win on top of just three hits allowed and four strikeouts. The right-hander attacked hitters all game long with his fastball, cruising at 80-83 mph and flipping in a 68-69 mph breaking ball for srikes as well. Ashton Izzi, Wichita State commit, got the nod for Oswego East and was extremely impressive in his three innings of work - recording eight of his nine outs via the strikeout. Izzi's fastball entered the zone at a steep angle while cruising at 92-93 mph early on, touching 94 mph - he settled in at 90-92 mph later in the game but still reached back for 94 when he wanted to. His slider was the seperator in his arsenal, playing off a short 10/4 plane at 76-82 mph, manipulating shape at times to achieve more depth with lesser velocity. He also threw a late fading changeup at 80-83 mph, mostly to lefties but occasionally threw to righties as well.
