| Mrs.Ramirez | Monroe Elementary | Special Education / IEP | Melissa Palmer | 2020-02-06 | On 08/14/2019, I was brought to tears when a letter came in the mail from Mrs. Ramirez. Wishing my son Dylan Palmer, well as he was just a few days away from starting middle school. Dylan has had a IEP for years and while he was a student at Monroe, Mrs. Ramirez always made Dylan feel at peace about being pulled from the class room for smaller group lessons. He always felt smart, confident, and excited about school. I was touched that in the hustle and bustle of back to school Mrs Ramirez took the time to write him a letter to remind him what a great kid he is. Amongst other things the letter said, " You are an amazing, kind, smart, respectful young man" and "always stay true to yourself, pick your friends carefully, and shoot for the stars." Enclosed was photos taken of Dylan doing class work through out the years. Dylan just completed his first semester of the 6th grade and achieved straight A's. I contribute so much of Dylan's success and high esteem to all the love, encouragement , and commitment Mrs. Ramirez and her team invested in my son. For that I would like to nominate Mrs. Ramirez for recognition because she is exactly what the IEP program and being a teacher is all about. Thank you, Mrs. Ramirez! 72 | Oron Jackson | Summit High School | Principal | 2020-02-07 | As Principal of Summit High School, Mr. Jackson excels at making all his students welcome. He sees the person and all of the possibilities they have to succeed. Summit, because of Mr. Jackson’s leadership is where students go when so many have given up on them. Possibilities, options, and guidance are what students have at Summit. | Parent
| Blanche Ramirez | Superintendent's Office | Executive Specialist | Mary Perry | 2020-03-01 | Blanche is a true fan of the series Not So Undercover Sup. But, more importantly, she is supportive of the cast and crew who bring each episode to life. In the world of movie making, she would be listed in the credits as "craft services"...the department that provide food to the crew and talent. Thanks to Blanche, the students and staff who recently spent time working on Not So Undercover Sup: Operations had adequate refreshments. | Co-Worker |

| Shaun Encinias | Technology | Graphic Services | 2020-02-28 | Shaun's professionalism and attitude reflect the Values of our District. Recently, he was able to temporarily patch some problems with my ailing computer workstation and has resolved to give it a fresh start when time allows, a process that may take a day or two, with his assurance that he'll get things back to normal for me. | Co-Worker
| Carlos Silva | Technology | Technology | Debbie Bray | Carlos is always kind and helpful but on one recent
troubleshooting visit to my classroom, my students were in the middle of a science activity and had materials literally all over the floor. Carlos made his way through the groups and worked around them without a problem. | Co-Worker

| Chuck Lavrusky | Transportation | Transportation Manager | Mick Wilhite | 2020-02-13 | Chuck, Thank you for your "speedy" assistance with arranging special transportation for our kindergarten student who had an issue during a fieldtrip to the Living Desert. Due to your excellent supervision, the bus arrived promptly and the student and her paraeducator were delivered safely back tp their school. I truly appreciate your extra time and effort on this matter. Mick Wilhite | Co-Worker |
| Angel Santiago | Harry Truman Elementary | Security guard for after school traffic | Sarah Miller | 2020-02-11 | Angel was my school security guard when I was in high school. He remembered me when I walked my little one out of class for the first time. Ever since that day, my kinder says bye to him every day and waves. Angel ALWAYS waves back. He also always asks how their day was if we have time. And waves again when we drive by to leave. He’s always been an amazing person and he’s one of the fun parts of their day. | Parent |
| Kathy Olearnick | Harry Truman Elementary | Teacher | Toni Britton | 2020-02-20 | Ms. Olearnick helped me tremendously when we had to try three different classrooms to set up and hold a TK/KN Group SART meeting for parents - with parents waiting impatiently in the office! She went above and beyond to help out, traipsing from room-to-room, making offers, and suggestions. Also, lending me her personal slide clicker presentation device so I could advance slides from the front of the room. I'm so appreciative for her help. She exemplifies service to others. | Co-Worker |
| Norma Smothermon | Harry Truman Elementary | Librarian | Toni Britton | 2020-02-20 | Ms. Smothermon helped me get the media going (on
not one, not two, but finally successfully in the third classroom we tried!) for a TK/KN Group SART meeting for parents - with parents waiting impatiently in the office! She continued troubleshooting issues in the various rooms, thinking through and offering other locations, traipsing room-to-room to get the projector talking to the computer, as well as providing a wireless mouse to use so I could advance slides from the front of the room. I'm so appreciative for her help. She exemplifies service to others. | Co-Worker |
| Oscar Aguilar | Harry Truman Elementary | Custodian | Toni Britton | 2020-02-20 | Oscar always helps me get into the room where I will hold the SART meetings, with a smile and sometimes with a ride on the golf cart to the furthest possible room from the office. This particular day, there were many complications with the media for the presentation and we had 8 families waiting impatiently in the office for us to be ready for the TK/KN Group SART meeting. Oscar helped brainstorm available rooms, kept in constant radio contact with the office for our various locations, and assisted me with getting set up across three moves. I'm so appreciative for Oscar's help and the additional assistance I needed and received, with a smile, this particular day. | Co-Worker |
| Kathleen Buckelew | Martin Van Buren Elementary | TK Teacher | Antonio Abawag | 2020-02-01 | As a fellow TK teacher, I was fortunate to observe Mrs. Buckelew in action. Even though Van Buren school is known for its strong academic mindset, Mrs. Buckelew additionally promotes the value of "kindness" in her students. There were many areas in her classroom that reminded children that kindness to each other is important daily. Even when I was given directions to Buckelew's room, the office staff told me that the classroom door will have "kindness" on the door. As we increasingly understand the significance of a positive social emotional environment in our schools, seeing Mrs. Buckelew's objectives of kindness is refreshing. | Community Member |
