40 | 17/11/2020 12:17:56 | mattskerani_007@hotmail.com | Matt Kitchen | DEFINITELY | It’s always good to provide things for kids to do to keep active. There are a large number of children in and around Temple Cloud and the play park is the only facility for them at present. I would have thought that a pump track would require very little maintenance once completed and would be there for a long time for kids to use and also in a safe location away from cars etc. A tarmac track would be safe to use in all weathers too. Something like a pump track is relatively safe too as opposed to a skate park with ramps etc. | 30-49 | 2 | 2 | 2
41 | 17/11/2020 12:18:57 | josiekjones@hotmail.com | Josie Kilbane-Jones | DEFINITELY | Always good to get kids into exercise. Would be good for all ages rather than the park there at the moment which is aimed at young kids. Adults could use for bikes, skate boards etc. The playing field is big enough for this also - there's a lot of unused space. The tracks in local villages always seem quite busy. | 30-49 | Honestly - rarer than once a month. | 2

55 | 17/11/2020 13:33:28 | n.s.porter@hotmail.com | Naomi Shearwood-Porter | DEFINITELY | A pump track would give the children of the village somewhere to use their bikes and scooters where they are both safe from traffic and not impacting on other residents. Gives older ones something to do as well abs younger ones can have great fun playing on it in the daytime whilst older kids at school. 133 | 18/11/2020 09:45:53 | tom.hemmings@siplicitygroup.co.uk | Tom Hemmings | DEFINITELY NOT (PLEASE TELL US WHY) | As some of you may know, I took a proactive role in the re-development of the play park and upgrade of the Village Hall, so I am not adverse to improving the village, especially for young people (albeit I do not have children so do not benefit in any way). However, from my experience as a Police Officer, these types of facilities and Antisocial Behaviour often go hand in hand (shouting, swearing, vandalism, drug use, etc). I have lost count of the number of times I have personally attended complaint calls in both Keynsham and Midsomer Norton relating to similar facilities and can guarantee that the same will happen. We have already seen repeated vandalism of parts of the upgraded play area. They generate a significant noise level, especially when scooters and skateboards are used. If such a facility were to be built, special care should be taken to consider noise pollution and ASB. The current proposed location is not suitable and it should be located as far from housing as possible. Furthermore, in this area there are lots on scramble bikes and mopeds. I'm sure they would soon find their way onto any track given that they already ride on the field illegally. Additionally, there is very little PC owned green space in the village. I think building any permanent structure on this area would be a mistake as that open space can never be recovered and will further reduce the green space available for general recreation of the wider community. Adjoining the playing field is the large field adjacent to the scrap yard. This is encircled by a footpath that is almost the perfect natural ‘bump track’ itself and there has also been one constructed within the copse in the Brandown field. I would have thought that if there was a high demand for such a niche piece of equipment, people would be using those in the absence of a purpose built one, yet nobody does. At the risk of being accused of being a ‘nimby’, it feels like a vocal group within the village are pushing for facilities commonly associated with larger town and suburban areas, such as skate parks, coffee shops etc. Many people like my wife and myself moved to the village a long time ago in order to live in a tranquil village setting and we accepted and embraced the fact that this meant we didn’t have a raft of facilities on our doorstep. Maybe those seeking such fundamental changes to the village should ask themselves if village life is for them and consider moving to a town such as Keynsham. If however despite my reservations, the overriding demand is that this facility is built and should be close to housing, maybe the redevelopment of the useless Brandown ‘play area’ should be considered. It is the perfect size for a bump track, would not encroach upon the playing field and would therefore not irreversibly remove the ability to have football (or similar) ever again, and is well overlooked by housing for the safety of the children using it and passive prevention of ASB. | 30-49 | 0 | 2

There is already people hanging around the village hall and playing field in the dark which puts me off walking around it in the evenings so have to stick to the roads. There are lots of children in the village and surrounding areas and a pump track seems a fantastic idea to both promote outdoor activity and build community links and friendships between children and families. Pump tracks can also be used by people of all ages and can be used with mountain bikes, BMXs, scooters etc. They provide opportunities for having fun, keeping fit and stretch and challenge exercising beneficial for both mental and physical health and wellbeing. Whilst the cost to build may be considerable, the resultant activities will be cost free for the user and this seems very timely in these challenging times for many. This is only the case when they are built with steep enough sections for boarders to maintain speed. The pump track in Frome is a great example of this and is safely enjoyed by all. 174 | 21/11/2020 17:18:07 | david.willock1@gmail.com | David W | IT MIGHT BE | From an adult perspective (this adults) It depends on the materials (sustainability) , quality of design and most importantly how much of the playing field it takes up. Whilst the playing fields are relatively lightly used now for formal sports, it may be the case that recreational sport returns at some point particularly with a growing younger population. Even without that, it is good to have flexible green space and people do use that for a variety of reasons. A pump track from a child's perspective it could be a great asset and could complement the playground and perhaps the Village Hall, providing an opportunity for some revenue from opening for coffee and refreshments etc (in more normalised times) if it brought more people into that area of Temple Cloud more often. Two kids in our house are very keen on the idea and say 100% yes! The pump track may be an attraction for other areas such as Clutton and Farrington Gurney and with limited use of sustainable transport use between those villages and Temple Cloud , it may lead to more traffic into the Village Hall area which will need a bit of consideration for those residents potentially impacted by that increased traffic. So in summary, kids love the idea, for the adults in the house it depends on how whether a recreational playing field for football or perhaps cricket could still happen (particularly the former as there are many more kids in the Village now so a football club (perhaps just practice) may and probably will happening the future) and the two can coexist without compromising either. Looking at the map not sure why it would be closer to the Village Hall and closer to the other play equipment. In terms of other ideas The Skyline Walk playground and fairy door walk is in my view a good way of using natural assets perhaps like the woods between the new estate and Eastcourt Road. Using wooden play equipment for outdoor natural pay and very much like the use of a QR on this survey, QR codes are used to augment the fairy door walk at the Skyline Walk and gives scope for art and imagination as well as play. I think it would need to be well lit so that it doesn't get abused at night and plenty of bins! | 30-49 | None, we dont have children at the moment | 2

187 | 22/11/2020 13:40:03 | jasphillips007@gmail.com | Jas | DEFINITELY NOT (PLEASE TELL US WHY) | There has been an on and off drug problem involved with the park, with young people coming in from surrounding villages. At the moment this doesn’t seem to be a problem but I feel this will encourage it again. I’m also worried this will affect the local football club as there is limited space for the football as it is. I feel this will have a negative impact on the village as a whole. | 18-29 | 0 | 2 | 1 | 1

213 | 23/11/2020 19:29:26 | diane328diane@gmail.com | Diane Turner | IT MIGHT BE | I'm not in an age group which would benefit from this resource, nor do I have family who would benefit, so I really cannot see that it will benefit the village as a whole. It is certainly NOT "a facility for all ages and abilities" as it states on the leaflet which came through the door, so please don't try to sell it as such. It's a facility which will only be used by children and young adults - and they will probably enjoy it very much. . Please also bear in mind that there is a community of elderly residents living alongside and very near to the playing field who may not appreciate having such a Track located near to their homes. Also what safeguards are likely to be put in place to make sure this does not end up just as a location for anti-social behaviours? | 65+ | None | 2

221 | 24/11/2020 09:11:59 | amandapritchard99@yahoo.co.uk | Amanda Pritchard | DEFINITELY NOT (PLEASE TELL US WHY) | The village playing field is too small for this, it would take up too much of the grassed area and just encourage large numbers of teenagers to congregate. We have seen this happen in a previous local park. 238 | 01/12/2020 06:49:40 | mandyburten@btinternet.com | Mandy Burten | IT MIGHT BE | I am in favour of providing a facility like this but my only concern is whether it should be fenced off in order to stop dogs from wanting to “join in”!
