|Matt Kitchen||DEFINITELY||It’s always good to provide things for kids to do to keep active. There are a large number of children in and around Temple Cloud and the play park is the only facility for them at present. I would have thought that a pump track would require very little maintenance once completed and would be there for a long time for kids to use and also in a safe location away from cars etc. A tarmac track would be safe to use in all weathers too. Something like a pump track is relatively safe too as opposed to a skate park with ramps etc.||30-49||2||2||2|
|DEFINITELY||Always good to get kids into exercise. Would be good for all ages rather than the park there at the moment which is aimed at young kids. Adults could use for bikes, skate boards etc. The playing field is big enough for this also - there's a lot of unused space. The tracks in local villages always seem quite busy.||30-49|

Possibly having two lanes, a fast and slow may be good so both younger and older children can utilise this safely.
|DEFINITELY||A pump track would give the children of the village somewhere to use their bikes and scooters where they are both safe from traffic and not impacting on other residents. Particularly those that don't live on any of the estates.|
It would also give more of a focus to the playing field which seems to be an underused resource at the moment.

|Laura Singh||IT MIGHT BE||I think this will be great for the young people in the community but it’s not clear whether it’s covering the whole of the playing field or whether there will still be an open area for people to continue other outdoor activities. Ideally if there is enough land it would be great to retain some green space as well. Selfishly as a dog owner it’s really nice to have this space which is more accessible than the other local fields in rubbish weather so I would love to retain some open space for this reason.||30-49||0||2|
|Jo||DEFINITELY||lack of a variety of facilities for young children within the local area||30-49||2||1||1|
|Sarah Vincent||IT MIGHT BE||I love the idea and think it’s great to get kids out and about. Gives older ones something to do as well abs younger ones can have great fun playing on it in the daytime whilst older kids at school. However one concern would be motorcycles, there are often youngsters on motorbikes around the village hall, seeing a track could be tempting for them. If access is though through then a great idea.||30-49||2||2||2|
|Tracey Kidd||DEFINITELY||My 8 year old travels to Bath BMX track for lessons on BMX and would love somewhere in the village to practice. It would be a great addition for older construction as the playground, whilst being FABULOUS, has an age limited interest. A pump track would get use throughout the day/evening by different ages. And it's outside exercise. And it's accessible for everyone!||30-49||2||1||1||1|
|Tess||DON'T KNOW||Very Poor lighting there at night. I think it would need a fence around as lots of local dog walkers use this field.||30-49||0||2|
|Angela Ball||DEFINITELY||I think its a great idea. Children will play there and not get into mischief as they would with a skate park . Although I'm not sure if it would be better placed to one side more or nearer a corner rather than right in the middle??? Otherwise, Pump track is the way to go!!! Great!!!||0-9|
We would probably use it most weekends and a couple of evenings
|18/11/2020 09:45:firstname.lastname@example.org||Tom Hemmings||DEFINITELY NOT (PLEASE TELL US WHY)||As some of you may know, I took a proactive role in the re-development of the play park and upgrade of the Village Hall, so I am not adverse to improving the village, especially for young people (albeit I do not have children so do not benefit in any way). However, from my experience as a Police Officer, these types of facilities and Antisocial Behaviour often go hand in hand (shouting, swearing, vandalism, drug use, etc). I have lost count of the number of times I have personally attended complaint calls in both Keynsham and Midsomer Norton relating to similar facilities and can guarantee that the same will happen. We have already seen repeated vandalism of parts of the upgraded play area. They generate a significant noise level, especially when scooters and skateboards are used. If such a facility were to be built, special care should be taken to consider noise pollution and ASB. The current proposed location is not suitable and it should be located as far from housing as possible.|
Furthermore, in this area there are lots on scramble bikes and mopeds. I'm sure they would soon find their way onto any track given that they already ride on the field illegally.
Additionally, there is very little PC owned green space in the village. I think building any permanent structure on this area would be a mistake as that open space can never be recovered and will further reduce the green space available for general recreation of the wider community. Adjoining the playing field is the large field adjacent to the scrap yard. This is encircled by a footpath that is almost the perfect natural ‘bump track’ itself and there has also been one constructed within the copse in the Brandown field. I would have thought that if there was a high demand for such a niche piece of equipment, people would be using those in the absence of a purpose built one, yet nobody does.
At the risk of being accused of being a ‘nimby’, it feels like a vocal group within the village are pushing for facilities commonly associated with larger town and suburban areas, such as skate parks, coffee shops etc. Many people like my wife and myself moved to the village a long time ago in order to live in a tranquil village setting and we accepted and embraced the fact that this meant we didn’t have a raft of facilities on our doorstep. Maybe those seeking such fundamental changes to the village should ask themselves if village life is for them and consider moving to a town such as Keynsham.
If however despite my reservations, the overriding demand is that this facility is built and should be close to housing, maybe the redevelopment of the useless Brandown ‘play area’ should be considered. It is the perfect size for a bump track, would not encroach upon the playing field and would therefore not irreversibly remove the ability to have football (or similar) ever again, and is well overlooked by housing for the safety of the children using it and passive prevention of ASB.

I think this would be amazing!
|Stuart Ball||IT MIGHT BE||This will be a valuable village resource. However, it will be a focal point for congregation at all times of the day and night, and will likely attract users from nearby villages. It is likely to bring with it an element of ASB that will need to be planned for and managed in the long term, in order to maintain it as an attractive resource for local young people. Such things as lighting, cctv, noise etc might need further consideration. Done well this is an excellent opportunity and could feed in nicely to a youth group.||30-49||2||1||1||2|

DEFINITELY NOT (PLEASE TELL US WHY)
|Something like this will bring anti social behaviour and other young people to the village. There is already people hanging around the village hall and playing field in the dark which puts me off walking around it in the evenings so have to stick to the roads. |
The new play equipment area has been vandalised with rubbish dropped and this will be just another area for people to congregate and leave rubbish.
It would be better to spend the money on other projects that would be for the benefit for all the villagers.
I don't see how under GDPR my age or the age of those in the household is relevant to the response to the questionnaire.
|Ms Sally Larkin||DEFINITELY||My son and I are regular visitors to the village as we have good friends in the area. There are lots of children in the village and surrounding areas and a pump track seems a fantastic idea to both promote outdoor activity and build community links and friendships between children and families. Pump tracks can also be used by people of all ages and can be used with mountain bikes, BMXs, scooters etc. They provide opportunities for having fun, keeping fit and stretch and challenge exercising beneficial for both mental and physical health and wellbeing. Whilst the cost to build may be considerable, the resultant activities will be cost free for the user and this seems very timely in these challenging times for many.|
Local businesses could also benefit (pubs, shops, cafes etc) from the visits by residents friends and families.

|Adam s davies||DEFINITELY||I think pump tracks are great places for all ages and sports to enjoy.|
This is only the case when they are built with steep enough sections for boarders to maintain speed. The pump track in Frome is a great example of this and is safely enjoyed by all. The one in Paulton is an example where it doesn't really work for ages over 10 and is only suited for bikes and scooters.
|David W||IT MIGHT BE||From an adult perspective (this adults) It depends on the materials (sustainability) , quality of design and most importantly how much of the playing field it takes up. Whilst the playing fields are relatively lightly used now for formal sports, it may be the case that recreational sport returns at some point particularly with a growing younger population. Even without that, it is good to have flexible green space and people do use that for a variety of reasons. |
A pump track from a child's perspective it could be a great asset and could complement the playground and perhaps the Village Hall, providing an opportunity for some revenue from opening for coffee and refreshments etc (in more normalised times) if it brought more people into that area of Temple Cloud more often.
Two kids in our house are very keen on the idea and say 100% yes!
The pump track may be an attraction for other areas such as Clutton and Farrington Gurney and with limited use of sustainable transport use between those villages and Temple Cloud , it may lead to more traffic into the Village Hall area which will need a bit of consideration for those residents potentially impacted by that increased traffic.
So in summary, kids love the idea, for the adults in the house it depends on how whether a recreational playing field for football or perhaps cricket could still happen (particularly the former as there are many more kids in the Village now so a football club (perhaps just practice) may and probably will happening the future) and the two can coexist without compromising either.
Looking at the map not sure why it would be closer to the Village Hall and closer to the other play equipment.
In terms of other ideas The Skyline Walk playground and fairy door walk is in my view a good way of using natural assets perhaps like the woods between the new estate and Eastcourt Road. Using wooden play equipment for outdoor natural pay and very much like the use of a QR on this survey, QR codes are used to augment the fairy door walk at the Skyline Walk and gives scope for art and imagination as well as play. The Design Council has lots of content on this kind of thing

We currently have issues with young people hanging around our shared garden area leaving litter and generally being a nuisance so anything that gives them something to do! I think it would need to be well lit so that it doesn't get abused at night and plenty of bins!||30-49|
None, we dont have children at the moment
|Jane Harvey||DEFINITELY||My husband ran football team for years shame no one can take it on but this will be great for local kids||65+|

|Cathy Gray||DEFINITELY||Something for the children to do in this village HAS to be a plus!||50-64||None||1||1||2|
DEFINITELY NOT (PLEASE TELL US WHY)
|There has been an on and off drug problem involved with the park, with young people coming in from surrounding villages. At the moment this doesn’t seem to be a problem but I feel this will encourage it again. I’m also worried this will affect the local football club as there is limited space for the football as it is. I feel this will have a negative impact on the village as a whole.||18-29||0||2||1||1|
|Lucy Scott||DEFINITELY||Aside from the park there is not much for children to do in the village, another outdoor space would be beneficial||30-49||2||2|
|Elliott Smith||DEFINITELY||Chosen this response because always as a kid I wished for something like this in the area and even though I’m a bit older now me and my mountain bike mates would deffo get down there||18-29||2||2||1||1|

|We do not wish this to happen, because of residual noise.||65+||Never, none||2|
|Richard Alvey||I DON'T THINK SO||The probability of attracting rowdy kids from all over the area at night. Consider there are sheltered bungalows beside the field, but off-loading kids matters more I suppose...||65+||None||2|

|George Jarvis||DEFINITELY||Would be brilliant for people in the village to be able to use this in a safe place purposefully built. Will prevent boredom and antisocial behaviour especially in the challenging times being experienced||0-9||5||3||2|

|Chris Thornton||DEFINITELY||I think a genuine positive addition to the village’s sports equipment.||50-64||1||1|
|Louis Rickman||DEFINITELY||It’s a great idea. Will give lots for the kids to get involved in. I remember growing up, going to the skate park. It was a great opportunity to socialise and meet people I wouldn’t usually see at school. Also kept me fit and gave something for me to do. I’d love for the kids of this village and surrounding areas to have the opportunity that I had.||30-49||1||2|

|Diane Turner||IT MIGHT BE||I'm not in an age group which would benefit from this resource, nor do I have family who would benefit, so I really cannot see that it will benefit the village as a whole. |
It is certainly NOT "a facility for all ages and abilities" as it states on the leaflet which came through the door, so please don't try to sell it as such.
It's a facility which will only be used by children and young adults - and they will probably enjoy it very much.
Please also bear in mind that there is a community of elderly residents living alongside and very near to the playing field who may not appreciate having such a Track located near to their homes.
Also what safeguards are likely to be put in place to make sure this does not end up just as a location for anti-social behaviours?
|Louise Rickman||DEFINITELY||Reduce youth disturbance in other areas of the village. And stop new housing being built.||30-49||1||2|
|charley||I DON'T THINK SO||because i like the field||10-18||0||3||1||1|
|Emily Adams||DEFINITELY||I like the idea of something all ages can use.||30-49||2||1||2||1||1|
DEFINITELY NOT (PLEASE TELL US WHY)
|The village playing field is too small for this, it would take up too much of the grassed area and just encourage large numbers of teenagers to congregate.We have seen this happen in a previous local park. It brings unwelcome teenage gangs from other areas and we do not want to encourage drugs,vandalism and crime to a good quiet community.||50-64||None||1||2|
|Richard Johnson||DEFINITELY||Great for keeping kids active||30-49||2||2||2|
|Myles Kidd||DEFINITELY||there are few facilities for younger people and this would be a good addition to encourage healthy activities.|
other ideas: shuttle-working on A37 south of Temple Inn to Cameley surgery, to widen the very narrow footway on the hill and make a horrible pedestrian environment much better;
cycle path on former railway line from Hallatrow to Chelwood Roundabout (ideally Midsomer Norton to Bristol but appreciate parts are built on, and parts are unsafe), to offer safer environment for all levels of cyclists given traffic levels and mix and topography and lighting on A37
|Piran Scott||DEFINITELY||Keep kids active, develop cycling skills||30-49||2||2||2|
|DEFINITELY||This will be a great facility for the young people||65+||1||1||1||1||2|
|Yasmin Cole||DEFINITELY||I have children and know they would love it and get a lot from it!||30-49||2||2||2|
|Lisa||DEFINITELY||This will be a great addition to the new park area. The main road is such a safety issue for all local families with young children, having this to ride their bikes and scooters on will be so good for their physical and social development. Sorry it wasn’t there when my children were that age, great idea!||50-64||Sadly none.||2||2|

The ongoing expansion of the village should also include more facilities for the growing population's well being and enjoyment and a pump track in my opinion would do wonders for the community spirit as a whole.
|Mandy Burten||IT MIGHT BE|
I am in favour of providing a facility like this but my only concern is whether it should be fenced off in order to stop dogs from wanting to “join in”! As the park is a shared space it needs to work for everyone who uses it. I also think a proper running track would be a great idea and maybe some ‘workout’ stations??
None - I’m too old for that now!!
I think it’s a brilliant idea. Encouraging outdoor pursuits over sitting playing on games consoles is great for the health of the kids -both mental & physical.
