| Earlymodernists visiting the UK |
---|---|
| Many earlymodernists from outside the UK pass through the country for a short time period, either on a research trip, a visiting fellowship, a conference dash, or for whatever reason. It is nice to make contact with these visitors and potentially invite them to speak at seminars (without the steep international travel fares…), but often UK-based scholars only find out too late. Hence the appearance of this form. It is an attempt to capture information on who will be visiting when and where. At the time of writing it is February, which is early, and many fellowships won’t have been announced yet, but this is already a trial of whether this works in this format or if we need to develop another way to capture and disseminate information. |

| The form to fill in as a visitor |
| If you are visiting from outside the UK and wish that to be known to fellow earlymodernists, feel very welcome to fill in as many details in the linked google form as you are comfortable with. Please only fill in for yourself, don’t ‘out’ others -- not everyone will be keen on this. By adding your name you consent for these details to be available publically online. Do not include your email address directly (for fishing-avoidance-purposes), but link to a webpage with contact information on it. |
| |
| In the tabs on this excel sheet, you can find the preliminary results of the survey. The first tab has an overview of all visitors alphabetically. There is a tab for each term, to keep a chronological overview. |
| |
| This is not final, so keep adding to it if you find out you’ll be in the UK for a while. For UK-based scholars: this is your resource of visiting earlymodernists. Invite them for a seminar talk, take them out for coffee, welcome them to attend a seminar series in your location, etc. If all goes to plan, this overview should foster many exchanges. If you are hosting a visitor next year, invite them to fill in the form, if they wish to be contacted. |
