|tm||Developer Lemi Orhan Ergin posted on Twitter that in macOS High Sierra if you type in "root" as the username, leave the password box blank, hit "enter" and then click on unlock a few times, the prompt disappears and you get admin rights. If you have a root account enabled and a password for it set, the above blank password trick will not work. You can set a root account by going to terminal and entering sudo passwd -u root||https://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/11/28/root_access_bypass_macos_high_sierra/|

|sl||U.S. District Judge William Alsup ruled that Uber had withheld evidence and granted Waymo a request to delay the trade secrets trial that had been scheduled to begin next week. Waymo learned of the new evidence last week when it was shared with Judge Alsup by the US Department of Justice. It involves a letter from former Uber security analyst Richard Jacobs' lawyer that alleges Uber’s markets analytics group “exists expressly for the purpose for acquiring trade secrets, code base and competitive intelligence.”||http://fortune.com/2017/11/28/uber-waymo-alphabet-trial/|
|tm||Microsoft introduced a new Windows 10 function called Sets. It allows apps to open other apps in a tab without needing to launch the app separately. So for example in Word you could open a browser tab in Word to look something up without having to launch the browser separately. You can save the tabs with the file for viewing later or on other devices. Sets will launch first to a select number of users in the Windows Insider Program in the coming weeks.||https://techcrunch.com/2017/11/28/microsoft-shows-off-windows-sets-a-tabbed-app-interface-that-puts-a-web-browser-everywhere/?ncid=rss|

The boy’s mother has filed a legal note calling for Epic’s lawsuit to be thrown out, arguing that her son did not develop the cheats or distribute them, he simply downloaded them from a popular cheating website and streamed himself using the cheats. However, Epic says the real issue was the boy promotting the software on YouTube, and claims he refused to take down a how-to guide video for using the cheating software.||https://www.theverge.com/2017/11/27/16707562/epic-games-fortnite-cheating-lawsuit-debate-14-year-old-kid|

Uber announced a few weeks ago it had entered into an agreement with a consortium led by Softbank and Dragoneer. Some Uber employees and other investors would be allowed to sell shares. If the deal is completed, Benchmark Capital has reportedly agreed to drop its lawsuit against Travis Kalanick.||https://techcrunch.com/2017/11/27/softbank-makes-offer-for-uber-shares-at-30-discount/?ncid=rss|

|This is a direct response to local services like Claro Video (owned by Telmex, who also owns over 70% of the infrastructure for telecommunications in the country) and Izzi (owned by Televisa, the main OTA Television and one of the main cable providers). If users can get in the same bill the services they want, they won't change providers as easily. |
The content distribution is different in different countries because licensing (yes, Star Trek fans are having a better time outside the US if they have Netflix) however the end service provider plays a more important role and that's where Disney/ABC is preparing the play field, Fox might be asking to get out of it, and the rest of the players like AT&T / Time Warner, or Comcast / Universal are perhaps ahead of the rest.

|sl||Good afternoon DTNS team!|
I've been listening to DTNS for about a year now, and have finally made the step of up for patreon. It now says 5,000 contributors now, I'm not sure if I was #5000 or not, but a cool milestone either way.
I just wanted to share one of my experiences which illustrates the real benefit which I've gained from the show. I'm in Brisbane, Australia so I get the pod casts first up in the morning for the previous day, and I listen to them on the way to work. My trip is 25mins, so it works out great.
On the day the Equifax leak came out, I heard it first from you guys. It was awesome timing, as I had a meeting with our digital team first up in the morning. We started talking about our identity management toolset, and the tech lead for the area was talking through the current state and said something like, "...and then we pass the details to Equifax, and they validate the info".
At which point I had a minor heart attack and I relayed the breaking news... thanks to the show I was able to talk to the specifics. Luckily for us, the Australian Equifax was historically a company called Veda, and had been bought recently by Equifax and rebranded, so their systems were isolated, and not affected. A few hours of panic there though.
Like everyone else, love the show and I hope my story helps convince people of the value.
