3 | New Employee Safety Orientation and/or EHS Orientation Form (1Hour) | The New Employee Safety Orientation course will provide an introduction to UNC Charlotte’s EHS program, general compliance requirements and injury prevention resources. | The Human Resources department will contact employees to arrange attendance at new employee orientation. The EHS office will conduct a safety presentation during new employee orientation and require an EHS Orientation Form to be completed within 15 days. 6 | Slips, Trips, and Falls (1Hour) | Slips, trips and falls are the leading cause of injury on UNC Charlotte’s campus. This course will provide employees with the ability to recognize and prevent slip, trip, and fall hazards and to address the key components of ladder safety. | The Slips, Trips and Falls course will be administered online. | Online Module |
7 | Fire Extinguisher (1 Hour, Annually) | This course will address how to prevent fires and recognize fire hazards. 8 | Bloodborne Pathogens (1 Hour, Annually) | This course will provide employees with a basic understanding of bloodborne pathogens, common modes of transmission, methods of prevention, and what to do if an exposure occurs. 13 | Chemical Hygiene/ Laboratory Safety (2 Hour) | This course will provide employees with a basic understanding of diverse safety and health hazards related to the laboratory work environments. The course will also identify general requirements of the Laboratory Safety Standard, recognize the importance of a Chemical Hygiene Plan in your workplace, define the purpose of a Material Safety Data Sheet/Safety Data Sheet, describe safety guidelines specific to laboratory fire and burn hazards, and identify general emergency guidelines to be followed in the laboratory. | The introductory Chemical Hygiene/Laboratory Safety course will be administered online.
