This document is to provide counsellors with additional information regarding how each institution confirms admission, as well as whether they accept language challenge exams for admission.

English does not need to be the official language of the country.

Queen's University Blended markWe accept challenge exams for non-prerequisite courses. This would include all language courses except for English courses.

Toronto Metropolitan UniversityBlended markWe will use blended marks for admission and scholarship consideration. Please note that career and workplace experience courses, co-op courses and challenge examinations will not be considered for admission purpose

Simon Fraser UniversityAlberta students will get a 2% grade bump to their overall blended grade. Students will need to mee all outlined program specific course requirements and the competitive overall grades. Students will be notified of an admissions decision via email on a rolling basis from February - April. Admission Requirements: https://www.sfu.ca/students/admission/admission-requirements/canadian-highschool/alberta.html Grade Ranges: https://www.sfu.ca/students/admission/admission-requirements/historical-admission-grade-ranges.html All students must complete English 30-1 with a minimum grade of 70%. Course can be completed in person or online - as long as it is completed and listed on transcript by June 30th of the student's grade 12 year.

University of GuelphWhichever mark is highest on the students' transcript: https://admission.uoguelph.ca/acceptable-courses-albertaYes, as long as the official transcript indicates that the course is numbered 30 or 31, is weighted 5 credits and there is a percentage grade.

Courses completed on a “Challenge basis” or through “Challenge exams” may not be used in the average calculation.

Saskatchewan PolytechnicAlberta students must meet Saskatchewan equivalents for admission purposes. We have 150 programs, each with their own admission requirements.
