If this has to be a partnership with METRO focus on the damages/aftermath that the metro rail has done on Harrisburg. Focus on the parks and lack of attention they have. Look at the aftermath of the bike lanes fix that too before it gets messier. City signs (stop signs, one way signs..etc), The roads in particular that first responders, school busses, metro busses, and the public take to avoid the long train wait. Those roads have many potholes and even though many have been filled the actual roads need to be fixed. The band aid of filling potholes can only do so much. Im sure drainage improvements can be done without having to build an overpass.

1182816417652023-03-29 12:25:382023-03-29 12:45:4612345678910I agree with the association's priorities - eliminate the overpass all together. Chose an alternate route. However, long term - I suggest that a multi agency collaboration should be explored to fund construction of a train trestle - City, County, FRA, TXDOT, Metro and include the railroad companies. $2 M doesn't go far but I suggest sidewalk improvements and additional street lighting making the neighborhood more walkable.

1182814555122023-03-29 09:53:262023-03-29 09:59:1118352749610METRO work with the community to address the root cause of trains blocking the intersection near Harrisburg and Lockwood. Overpass / underpass would not be needed if trains moved normally and did not park on the tracks for extended periods of time. Buses would run on set schedule and not be trapped behind the trains along with pedestrians, cyclists and motorists. Lobby to address parked train issues which would improve quality of life for everyone.

Metro isn't safe anyway because of the homeless always riding and endangering riders.Work on the parks for the children. On the sidewalks so they can walk home and not have to divert to the street. So much can be done in the community for the community that doesn't involve metro of all things.

The mark of crossing is on the maps but I don't know what they will look like and I think a simple crossing is not safe enough. Fix Lockwood and keep the same METRO routes with a middle lane indicating "only METRO" buses. No need for the overpass, that is just an excuse to spend the money.

Any disruption to the neighborhood should be heavily weighed against and any needs for a transit system route down Lockwood that has not shown to be a need for this neighborhood or it’s ridership should be halted!Improve the current roads! Any infrastructure improvements for the roads will and should also aid in the perceived flood control that Metro appears to be heavily concerned with!

Losing a lane of traffic for cars between Harrisburg and Leeland might be good for the neighborhood's walkability in the longterm. I would do something to kill train blockages. Over/under passes or raise/lower the trains tracks. Train Quiet Zones. Add more speed cushions on residential streets. Minimum lot size protection for every block. Plant 500 trees and native plants in public and private spaces. Pedestrian overpass on train tracks. Make our school parks [Lantrip basketball courts] open to the public (spark parks). Better more protected bike lanes. Better draining in recurring problem areas, next to Kroger, etc. Public art all over.

1182792869402023-03-27 09:21:282023-03-27 09:33:4952637841910Consider alignments that make full use of the transformational power of BRT/Light Rail. Hirsch and Jensen are alternatives where BRT/LR can enhance changing development patterns in a much more sustainable way. Both Jensen and Hirsch line up with the emerging East River Project. Hirsch could feed into the York-Sampson Corridor, which is another walkable district being developed. Jensen BRT would feed into the east downtown LR district. BRT/LR is not just about transportation. If it were, leaving existing bus lines in place, perhaps with some minor improvements, would make more sense. But BRT/LR is about changing the pattern of development, establishing routes where walkability is already taking place. Transit dollars will have a greater impact on the alternative alignments on Jensen or Hirsch. These alignments should be looked at in detail. Is it critical that the alignments pass through the Eastwood transit center. Could the alignments not continue south and intersect with Segment 3 directly?

1182792543852023-03-27 08:54:502023-03-27 09:02:4632456781109it sounds like the real problem is Union Pacific blocking streets and traffic. why not fix that problem? building an overpass does nothing to resolve UP's disregard for the safety and schedules of East End residentssidewalks to make neighborhood more walkable cleaning up trash fixing the streets damaged by all the heavy vehicles (like Lockwood)

1182789471702023-03-27 00:08:512023-03-27 01:30:1232569741810There are way better routes to the west. Waco/Hirsch for example skirts the eastern side of the massive East River project. BRT would increase walkability in a major way. In addition Hirsch feeds into York, another where a new walkabiliy district is emerging. Jensen skirts the western edge of the East River project and could tie into existing east downtown stations. BRT/Light Rail is about much more than transportation. It is about enabling high density resource-efficient walkable development in areas best suited to this kind of development. BRT on Jensen or Hirsch would enable walkable districts way faster than anything on Lockwood. Walkable development will not occur for a long time even with BRT. Hirsch would speed up walkabily and would connect major new high density developments just to the east of downtown. Spend the money where it makes a difference. Higher density development will occur along Harrisburg, but not on Lockwood. Reroute this line to where it makes sense.

1182788710122023-03-26 22:16:572023-03-26 22:24:5921354769810I think Lockwood easily makes the most sense for the project and I bought property in Eastwood with heavy consideration coming from the future BRT connection with the green line. The associated sidewalk and road improvements that come along with it are vital. I think the best option for everyone is a bus-only underpass, but I would rather have a bus-only overpass before moving the project to a different corridor.$2 million buys approximately 3-4 linear miles of new sidewalks. I'd put it all there. Also the Dumble shared path from the East End Mobility Plan to link Telephone to Eastwood Park/Harrisburg. That would be a walking path for many neighbors to get to the LRT.

More coordinated historic area signage including the major subdivisions (Eastwood, Lawndale, Broadmoor) and entry points. Some similar to sign on Lockwood and others with color/font style that would work in narrower ROW application.

1182788612962023-03-26 21:53:562023-03-26 22:04:2789513471062The plan eliminates the clay/Lockwood/telephone connection. That connection allows people traveling on Lockwood to do turns prior to reaching Polk when coming from I45. It's loss is going to be additional pressure on the light at Polk and on Leeland in at Cage elementary. There needs to be something to remedy that pressure. Preference would be to keep that turning area. They could also add additional lines on Leeland. There needs to be pedestrian access on the rusk side of the buss overpass to the rapid bus transit station at Harrisburg. Stopped trains will make it near impossible for that station to be used by people on the Rusk side of Harrisburg

1182788477672023-03-26 21:23:532023-03-26 21:31:3876528931410TAKE THIS PROJECT TO AN ALTERNATE ROUTE!!! There is NO good option for this ridiculous bus lane in our neighborhood. None. I'd rather things stay the same than have this project run down Lockwood, though I do support the bus and the idea of solutions. Go to Milby! Go to York/Sampson or Wayside/69th st. BOTH OF THOSE HAVE PLENTY OF LANES TO DONATE WITHOUT TAKING HOUSES OR TREE CANOPY. Plus, Milby would include another college campus, HCC! WE HAVE PAID OUR FAIR SHARE ON INFRASTRUCTURE!!!! This is a historic neighborhood and we deserve the right to maintain our integrity! Improve sidewalks all over the neighborhood and bus shelters on all routes--maybe run an express 80 bus (streets as they are, maybe resurfaced) down Lockwood.
