Note: For college systems ranked among the top 50 endowments, The Chronicle selected Pell data from the flagship campus or the campus with the largest individual endowment if there was no main campus. Enrollment figures are 12-month unduplicated undergraduate head counts. The percentages of students receiving Pell Grants are based on distribution data collected by the U.S. Department of Education. Ohio State University, Pennsylvania State University, the University of Pittsburgh, and the University of Washington report their data to the department for all campuses in the system. The Chronicle asked each of those institutions to provide annual data on Pell Grant recipients for just the main campus. Pell percentages shown here may not match calculations computed by individual colleges, which may be based on different time frames or different enrollment percentages. In previous analyses of Pell Grants at wealthy colleges, The Chronicle used 12-month Pell disbursement figures and fall enrollment data.
