Key Words about Major that I need to know when applying (HINT: Look specifically at the home page for this major, then carefully read for hints at what the program is looking for in an applicant.)

Also look through their About Us, Letter from the President, In the News, etc. This will help you know whether the program is a good fit for you. If the program screams "Giving back to the local community" and that's not in your nature, you shouldn't apply...but if it is, your application should obviously speak to how this is a fit for you
What specifically do you like about this school and the program you are interested inFind a specific professor, a club, an outreach program, etc. What is it and why do you connect with this? It doesn't need to be related to your major. Do your research and demonstrate that you are genuinely interested in the school, the culture, the surrounding community and being an active member.

You can use this when answering the "Why this college" question or any other question that might come up on the application. Make them see you at their campus.
Look through your transcipt and your extracurriculars/volunteer hours, etc. Pick one aspect to highlight and discuss further.

Remember, you are not speaking to experts. They don't know for example, what 1st chair is in band or orchestra, so give them facts. speak in data points. Hours, commitment, purpose. Don't say we, say I. What did you do?
How likely are you to attend this school, if admitted? (1st choice, highly likely, likely, safety, not likely)
