Pinnacle Studio 17WindowsYes, 30fps clips are auto converted to 60fps clips when combined with 60fps clipsYesPlace and drag, other tracks move over.Yes, from timelineYesManyYyes but jagged diagonalsyesManyFull screenDrag and drop to any placeCrashes often and only 32 bit so has limited access to RAM.

Avid Media Compser 8Windows Mac$50/monthneeds plugins which appear to not be available yet for 8.0. In fact all the plugins I looked at were for version 6.5Yes?~5?Full screen in some modes only.Opens streatched across all 3 screens and needs to be reconfigured as first action. All components are sub windows to the main window that do not dock and therefore changing the layout is tedious. non obvious select and placeYou seem to have to click in the window twice to select it when coming back from another window. Then a third time to actually click the thing you were trying to click.

Adobe Premiere Elements 12Windows MacYes, 30fps clips are auto converted to 60fps clips when combined with 60fps clipsYes, though noticing audio only tracks seem to be fadedVisual till single frame step zoom level where you only get a +- time/frame count.NoIs done through audio mixer tool windowMust select all clips to disableManySort of. For example to do a transition from 1 video track to another you have to cut the pieces into the same track. Though you can do PIP style over lays.yes reasonably good though centering is awkwardnoIn Main window. If you move the main window display is trashed with left over bit of the window. You can move the timeline to another window. Note selecting another window stops play.Drag and drop that often seems to go to place unintended including adding new tracks on fly.Seems to randomly go into timeline scrolling mode. (might have been sticky control key) but definately has an affinity for scrolling to end of time line if you click on the timeline scroll bar to page left or right multiple times.

LightworksWindows Linuxfree version, $8/mth, $80/yr or $280 outrightYes but FPS needs to match project so all clips must be same frame rateYesYes in audio mixer windowMore complex than Studio in that you set % og blend at key frames. Plus you seem to need pro version to see the effect before export.Only pro version outputs DVDsF12 echos viewer display to last (3rd in my case) monitor.Main window is full screen on 1 monitor unless you take it out of fullscreen on project selection screen. Doing so lets you stretch the main window across multiple monitors. All components are sub windows to the main window that do not dock and therefore changing the layout is tedious.Need to add tracks for data to go as in add a video and 2 audio tracks seperately, select ONLY those tracks then drag and drop the clip to place.

BlenderWindows, Mac, Solaris, Irix, Linuxfree version, $8/mth, $80/yr or $280 outright30 fps yes 60 fps if project is 60 fpsOf wave files @ 44.1K but not other formats it seemsNot seeing an obvious way???Does not appear to support DVD authoring though wiki compare says does.Appears to be no simple way to undo some layout changes. Just have to start over. Drag and drop clips seem to go where they want. You have to right click a clip to move it and the video and audio are moved seperately even though they came from the same clip and were added together. While you might be able to get it to work it REALLY seems unfinished and does not appear to support output to DVDsbasics

Adobe Premiere Pro$20/mthYes, 30fps clips are auto converted to 60fps clips when combined with 60fps clipsYes but they appear VERY slowly.Syncing audio wave forms is doable but you can only see the wave forms when you stop draggingNoIs done through audio mixer tool windowYesMostly a manual process. See PanYyes reasonably goodYes. In fact most transitions are done with the pan, scale and opacity options on the effects controls tab.Camera icon on preview windowPreview window can placed any where and sized though not to true full screen.Undockable windows so can work in 1 screen to several.Pretty much works though one issue I saw was with 1 audio video pair and a sound track. If you then try and add another video track try and the paired audio for the track in the audio track your soundtrack is in. You should add / move your soundtrack into audio 3 instead. If you are coming from a tool like Pinnacle Studio you will probably end up Googling how to do almost everything since the interface makes assumtions that you are used to a "Pro" style interface where most things are done through options instead of tweaking a preset. Many
