39 | Kyle Rosette is wiry of build and hasn't hit a growth spurt yet, standing at a mere 5'4". His blonde hair - long bleached almost white by wind, sun, and sand - seems to grow too quickly for him to keep it in check, a wild wavy mess that hangs just below his shoulders and is usually bound in a braid. He is just starting to grow a bit of stubble, and could be considered moderately handsome with a little cleaning up. A bit on the scrawny side, his dusky skin is darkly tanned, visible mostly on his arms as he prefers lighter clothing like sleeveless shirts. He usually wears a scarf and goggles to protect from harsh weather. | Growing up on the outskirts of Pollucite Ridge, a somewhat isolated and nomadic life was the norm for Kyle. His mother Thea was an archaeologist, making regular forays into the desert in search of ruins and the secrets they guarded. Thea was always viewed as a bit of a crackpot, telling stories of the glory days of eons past and making claims that some day mankind could one day rise to such heights again. Her outspoken views were unpopular, but she was an otherwise friendly woman and made herself useful enough as a desert guide to travelers that no one ever seemed to mind her oddities. From a young age, Kyle learned to mostly take care of himself, watched over only by his somewhat irresponsible and neglectful father. Pat Rosette was a hard worker and a good man at heart, but didn't really know what to do with a kid and mostly left Kyle to his own devices whenever his mother was gone. Working the land was his passion, and he had a talent for coaxing abundant life out of the arid earth that seemed impossible to most farmers, easily keeping his family fed and earning enough from selling surplus to fund Thea's expeditions. While Kyle had no interest in farming, he loved the beauty and variety of growing things, one of the few things he was able to bond with his father over. Pat often brought him exotic suculents and rare herbs, and by the time he was ten Kyle's room was full of shelf upon shelf of tiny potted plants, carefully cultivated to survive the desert environment. His first Pokemon, Ambrosia, was one of these gifts, intended to help protect Kyle when the boy began roaming further from the farm on his own. Though he was not entirely inexperienced with Pokemon by that point; his father kept several around the farm to help with work, and had taught Kyle how to care for them. When he turned eleven, Thea decided that Kyle was old enough to start taking on more responsibilities. Knowing that his father's work didn't appeal to him, and worried that his independent streak might become a problem as he grew into his teens, she offered to let him start accompanying her on her delves into the desert. He wasn't much of a survivalist, but he was able to identify edible and medicinal plants, and proved to have a talent for helping people and Pokemon recover from the hazards of desert travel - exposure, minor injuries, and even the occasional aggressive wild Pokemon. In fact, his other three Pokemon were all sick or injured desert natives that he had nursed back to health, and had decided to remain with him afterwards. Seeing Thea's work firsthand inspired the boy and sparked a real interest in the history of the region, but he ultimately concluded that the desert ruins couldn't hold all the answers alone. Thus he decided to set out and explore the rest of Ceres. His parents insisted he become an official Pokemon Trainer for his own safety, and Kyle agreed - through the League he would have access to more resources and information, and as knowledgable and influential figures the Gym Leaders and Elite Four might hold secrets themselves that they might be willing to share if he proved himself to them. Kyle has since made his way to Petalite City, where he's lingered for some time at the University's library and the Cathedral, spending more time in research and reading than Pokemon training. Still, he knows that soon he'll need to move on if he wants to start challenging the League, and believes he's ready enough for the task as he's ever going to be. But his first real callenge will be fiding other Trainers he can work with...

41 | Though a kind and honest boy at heart, Kyle nevertheless finds it difficult trust easily and avoids casual contact with other people. He will go out of his way to help someone in trouble and never turn a blind eye to suffering, but rarely sticks around long enough to make any lasting relationships, and expects no favors from others in return. Kyle has an even temper that is not easily riled, but isn't stoic or passionless, with a hearty sense of humor. In fact, he's a bit of a bleeding heart, easily swayed by sob stories and compassionate to a fault. He possesses a sharp memory and a wide range of esoteric knowledge garnered from his studies and his mother's research. He's inherited her obsession with the history and legends of Ceres, and while much of this information seems useless for simple day-to-day life, Kyle is convinced that it will someday prove important and considers the recovery and protection of the lost secrets of history a vital endeavor. Mature for his age, he takes his responsibilities seriously. Kyle prefers to avoid conflict whenever possible, and has developed a knack for wiling his way out of trouble when necessary. After all, the desert is full of dangerous monsters and unscrupulous, desperate folk not undisposed to attacking a kid...

43 | * Challenge the League in order to get close to its officials. While Kyle has no interest in being Champion, he wouldn't mind supporting someone else more ambitious. He knows the League is not meant to be a solo effort and is willing to set aside his tendency for isolation if he can find a good team of Trainers. *Seek out, preserve, and share Ceres' history, including knowledge, stories, or artifacts. *Increase his own knowledge and skill in natural medicine. While medical technology has advanced significantly in recent generations, Kyle believes the traditional ways still have value that has not been completely surpassed by modern techniques. |
