12:00 - 01:00 p.m.CONFERENCE #2 - "This is how we do data journalism in Spain" by Jesús Escudero, journalist of El Confidencial (The Confidential) and Juan Francisco Caro, author of the blog Extremadura en datos (Extremadura in data). Data journalism is still a novelty in Spain, but it is not an exception anymore. Journalists and the media are getting more and more interested in it. We will discuss this and analyze some of the examples of a newsroom that has bet on the creation of a data department and has a journalist who applies data journalism at a local level.

The international program Chicas Poderosas (Powerful Girls wants to encourage journalists of Latin American newsrooms to learn how to use the necessary tools in order to strengthen and favour investigations and data journalism. Mariana Santos will talk about data visualization techniques, tools and processes.

The clue of its functioning relies on the combination of technology and journalism, beginning with the extraction of information. They will explain how and why they have created this project.
